Dealing with Trump

So Donald Trump has gone back to his greatest hits and is threating tariffs on everyone again and it drives me nuts when I hear political pundits talk about strategy and how best to deal with him.  Trump has no strategy, he doesn’t think ahead and is totally winging it as he goes.  He’s a lousy business man who’s bankrupted 6 of his own companies due to his gross incompetence which includes a freaking casino.

I think political leaders would be better to follow the example of Qatar who gave President Trump a plane; hell one up it perhaps PM Carney should build Trump a yacht.  The Canadian government spends a ton of money on stupid shit already, Trump is very transactional and it’s easy to buy your way into his good books.  What definitely should not be done is to arbitrarily surrender like Carney did with the Digital Services Tax (which was a stupid tax to begin with but I digress), by doing that Trump can simply move the goal posts and ask for something else now.

There’s also no value in any “deal” that you can hammer out since Trump can go back on his word without notice. The other option is to negotiate and buy time, Trump’s causing quite a bit of pain to the American people and the mid terms are only 16 months away, perhaps the Democratic party can regain one chamber of Congress that could stop this madness if they’re willing to exercise their power and hold Trump accountable.  Ugh, how did we get into a world where we have to depend on Democrats to help.

Prime Minister Mark Carney is suppose to be a smart guy so we’ll see what he has in store but if he treats Trump like an honest actor, he’s going to be up for a rude awakening.
