CQBR PTW!

I picked up a used CQBR barrel set from Brayden for the Systema PTW and man I have to say, the thing is nice and short!  It’s going to be great when I need a lot of fire power up close and personal. 😉

The PTW is just slightly longer than my CA MP5 A5 and I think it’ll great be the alternative to the KWA MP7A1 for indoor use. Colin is happy, now if he could only play…

Training Newbs is fun!

On Saturday I ran an airsoft team training day for new/novice players and it went very well.  The purpose of the session was to help new players be more effective on the field and we discussed (and practiced) things like field communication, target identification and flanking techniques; things which are not immediately obvious to new players, but essential when playing in a team environment.

The day started slowly as I had to make sure that the players were all at the same level before we got into the more advanced stuff and the rain certainly didn’t help… I cut the lessons short when it started to rain heavily around 11AM and went into a bit more action since standing out in the rain watching people practice maneuvers kind of sucks.  Luckily the rain let up after a short intense soaking.  In the afternoon I got all the individual fire teams to work together and assault defended positions and they performed very well.  I was particularly pleased  with how well the teams communicated and coordinated their attack.

It’s a shame I had to leave the field at 4PM as I had a dinner to go to but ya the training session went well and I think I’ll hold another one, perhaps a more intermediate level training session with more emphasis on fire and movement and discussions on radio communication. 🙂

Maggie is home

Well I certainly had a good weekend.  On Saturday I went out for dim sum with my dad, Estelle and Imran then relaxed the rest of the day.  Sunday I played at Flag Raiders with Mike, Stephen, Jason and Cameron (Jason’s brother in law) and we had a good time.  There were a few small issues but overall the day was very good.  I used the A&K M249 Para as long as I could, after lunch the tappet plate broke and the gun would no longer feed so I went to my backup the PTW.  I left the game early as I wanted to go home and take a shower before I picked up Maggie.  Her flight was delayed about 30 minutes but ya she arrived safe and sound so I’m happy. 🙂

Life is good for Colin.

Yay I can spray again

This is going to be a fun weekend.  Yesterday I picked up Simba to cat sit for my parents and I have to say man he’s so damn cute. This time around it only took him about 10 minutes to get comfortable with his new surroundings, I guess he could smell himself (from last time) so yeah within a few, he owned the place. 😉  He was pretty good last night when I was sleeping, didn’t wake me up and kept me company (he was sleeping on the futon next to me).

I also acquired another A&K M249 Para, this time around I won’t make the mistake of selling it. The CA M249 MK2 I had previously was nice but definitely not built for an Asian person and was very uncomfortable to wield, the more compact Para is easier for me to handle.  I can’t wait to try it out, will be playing on Sunday so I can spray woo!

Finally Maggie is coming back Sunday night and yes I’m very happy.  It was a fun two weeks for sure but I definitely missed her a lot and when she’s away, I always worry about her safety.  More so now I guess since she’s carrying Positron. 😉

Fun relaxing weekend

I had a busy long weekend, I hope yours was enjoyable as well.   On Friday I helped my dad pick up some Japanese Maples that he ordered, now that I have a hatchback I guess I’ll be helping people move lots of stuff now lol.  I also went for Pho with Stephen and Helene, I wasn’t too hungry at the time but I wanted to drop off the stuff Stephen and I ordered from HK.

Saturday night I went to play a night game hosted by Chris and Tom and it was a lot of fun.  Even though I’d prefer to simply be a player I was in command of the coalition forces.  It was fun even if we were outnumbered most of the night, we played quite well as a team and were able to achieve most of our objectives.  LOL things got easier when Brian (who was playing on the other team) and Tyson left as the other side no longer had any leaders and the other side did not play as much as a team.

Team picture before the game. 🙂

Finally yesterday I didn’t really do much, went to get the car washed and mainly relaxed at home.  Was a bit sore from the night game but I’m 100% now and could do another one.

Things are well

Yeah it’s been more than a few days since the last post, things are going well. 🙂  Nothing much to report honestly, I’m filling my time with a lot of videogames (GOW 3) and airsoft on the weekends.  Looking forward the night game on Saturday, it’s going be damn tiring but woo first night game of the airsoft season.

Maggie is having fun in China though she says it’s cold in her city, heh I’m glad she took the cold weather with her because it’s beautiful in Toronto. 😀

I guess that’s all I have to say for now, I’ll report back later…

Nice weekend

The weather in Toronto was beautiful over the weekend and what do I do, spend it indoors playing Dante’s Inferno on my PS3.  🙂  Mission complete, I was able to finish off the game and even the extra unlocked content. I have to say while the game is a lot of fun, there are many parts which are damn annoying like the Malebolge “challenges”.  I guess it follows the poem but it had absolutely nothing to do with the game and it was also disappointing that Lucifer was so easy to beat.  Oh well the graphics were good and the story was ok…  It’s a great tune up for God of War 3 which I’ll be getting next week, since the controls and game play is virtually identical.

I also picked up a package from LA Police Gear that Mike and I ordered like a month ago, the store has great prices but is damn slow when it comes to shipping. Anyway I have a new indoor molle vest and setup, can’t wait to try it out at TTAC3 next time there’s a CQB session.

It’s very light and should be pretty quick, the only bummer is that I bought the wrong mag pouches.  I bought up two 5.11 single stack double pouches, should have gotten the double stack versions because I can’t put my tornado grenades in the singles. Oh well in any case I paid like $30 for the set up since it was on sale so I’m coming out ahead. 😉

TAC10 Convention

On Saturday I attended the TAC10 airsoft convention.  The team had a table and it was nice to see some familiar faces along with new/potential players.  Man standing for ~10 hours is damn tiring but totally worth it. 🙂  About the only thing to report was that there were full metal/black guns for sale, now that airsoft is on a better legal footing (for now maybe).  I didn’t buy much, just my season’s stash of BBs along with a few odds and ends.

It was Jeremy’s birthday and Odessa was kind enough to provide a birthday cake.  LOL it was funny to see his face when the team and then everyone at the convention sign happy birthday to him. 😉  Anyway yeah that’s it, you can bet the GHOSTS will be back for TAC11.

Interesting development in Canadian airsoft land

My hat goes off to Dave, perhaps he’s the savior of airsoft in Canada.  I think I’ll take a wait and see approach while having the legal right to buy full metal guns is great, now that we’re on the radar of the government I can see politicians using airsoft as an issue for scoring political points too.

Despite the love in on ASC, I think people should also understand we’re at the whim of the government.  It’s legal right now (well certain brands and models) but things can change very quickly too.

Here’s what Mach1Airsoft currently can get and prices.  Let’s hope that this leads to better things for airsofters in Canada. 🙂

Busy busy, well not really

Sorry for the lack of updates I’ve been pretty busy playing a new game for my PSP, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3.  The reviews were only ok but I’m enjoying it quite a bit. 🙂  Saw the doctor on Saturday with Maggie and got to hear the fetus’ heart, that was rather exciting.  Err that’s about it I guess I hate the shitty weather we’re getting right now but I’ll complain about later maybe.
