No longer collecting…

So over the weekend I decided that I’m no longer going to collect airsoft guns. I’m not getting out of the hobby but I don’t feel the urge to keep a large arsenal anymore, I’ve had a large collection for around 6 years now and I think at my height I had just over 30 guns but I’m going to shift focus. Most of my gear is real already but I’ll spend some money optimizing what I’m actually using on the field as that’ll make me a more effective player on the field.

The pruning has already started, on Friday I gave Mario his KWA MP7A1 back (we give each other guns every now and then when we’re not using them), sold my real EOTech 551 and ICS AK74M on Saturday and also am trying to sell the CA MP5 A5 and CA P90 RDS. I’ll probably list a few more guns on Airsoft Canada soon though I don’t know what else I want to get rid of…

Even though I’m lightening the collection, I’ll still probably have about 15 or airsoft weapons as I love my pistols too much but ya I’m going even further with quality over quantity now. πŸ™‚

Sore!

What a great Saturday… The morning started off slow but we went out for lunch, I had won ton noodles from a local food court which are my favorite in Scarborough. πŸ™‚ While Maggie & her mom were still eating, I ducked out for a hair cut and after I was done it was Brandon’s turn. As expected he cried, cried and cried a lot, it was kind of cute but at the same time sad. I wish I could save him but we put off cutting his hair for over 3 weeks now and it was pretty long.

Later after B’s nap in the afternoon Jason, Jessie & Logan came over to have a play date with Brandon. At first the kids were pretty hostile towards each other as they were competing for the same toys. After dinner though they loosened up and played together pretty well. Logan talks a lot more than Brandon does and it was cute to watch them interact and play with the trains together. At certain times it sounded like they were having some high pitched baby voice conversations and there were a lot of smiles and laughs.

Jason and I left after dinner to meet the guys at Ultimate Airsoft, Chris was bringing his gf Keiko to play her first game and a bunch of us decided to go to support her. We arrived at around 6:15PM, Stephen was there and Mario, Jeremy 1 & Jeremy 2 showed up about 10 minutes later. The first few skirmishes we played, we dominated so badly that the ref split us up to be more fair. The game was more balanced afterwards and everyone had a pretty good time. As the night progressed Eric showed up, just after we were talking smack about Chris, he shows up with Keiko and Qlong. I asked the ref to allow us to play together as we rarely get to play together these days and lol it was another slaughter (even though the teams had an even number of players ;))

There was a small incident where one of the opposing players was pretty slow to call shots so as good airsofters we fired for effect. He complained and I told him that we’re playing a game where we’re shooting projectiles at each other, f you don’t want to get shot up then the easy option is not to play. Later Jason and I were clearing out the hurt locker area and nailed him quite a bit, again though he was slow to acknowledge his hit and just stood in the way afterwards. He remarked that we almost hit him in the balls to which I replied in a not so nice manner to get out of the way.

The last game of the night was a zombie game and while I had fun, I also ran into a low door frame that knocked my PVS-14 off. πŸ™ It hit the ground and broke at the battery housing but luckily the tube is still working. Chris will help me get a new housing but sigh it sucks and now my precious NV is down so I can’t walk around in the dark at home. Good thing the mil sims are all done, by the start of the outdoor season I will be good to go.

Today well is still ongoing, I watched the last race of the 2012 F1 season at Interlagos Brazil and man it was super exciting. Things didn’t end well for my favorite driver, Lewis Hamilton as he was involved with a race incident (not his fault) that disabled his car sigh he’s had some terrible reliability/luck issues this year and had things gone his way he would have been challenging for the driver’s championship.

I’ll figure things out for the rest of the day, I’m pretty sore from the game as I pushed pretty hard. I guess I’ll just play with Brandon the rest day and call it early as I’m tired. πŸ™‚

Mustache Power

So as some of you may know I’m growing a mustache for Movember, anyway on Monday I went to renew my Ontario health card and they needed to take my picture. πŸ™ So that means that my health card for the next 5 will have a picture of me with a mustache even though I don’t normally have one. Thought it was funny, on a side note I have to say after having a my “nose neighbour” for over 2 weeks I hate it. It’s damn itchy and lol because I’m older I find that my nose hair sometimes sticks out and touches it which then makes my nose itchy too.

I don’t think I’ll participate next year, am not enjoying the experience…

What a great weekend!

While I wasn’t able to play airsoft with my boys on Saturday I still had an excellent weekend. Things started early on Saturday, Brandon likes trains so I figured I’d take him on the TTC so he can ride the subway. It was very cute but he definitely didn’t like it and at every stop little B wanted to get off. Instead of riding the subway downtown as originally planned we went from Don Mills to Sheppard and back, then met up with Maggie and her mom at Fairview.

After a bit of shopping we decided to go for lunch and I got my favorite, won ton noodles yum! Later I decided to go to Toronto Airsoft, Maggie was encouraging me to buy a gun the last couple of days and while I was hesitant I eventually succumbed to temptation. After all it’s not every day that she tells me I should buy a gun. πŸ™‚ I was a bit torn at what to get but eventually I picked up a King Arms M4A1, initially I wanted to get the nylon body RIS version but I figure for $40 more I could get one full metal M4 though I’d have to add the rail system on later.

It certainly feels like a solid gun, hopefully my search for a good loaner AEG will finally be over. I took a lot of pictures of the thing and will post a review on it shortly, after I get a new spring to swap out as it’s shooting ~410 fps right now.

In the middle of the afternoon Maggie and her mom went out so it was just Brandon and I, the weather was nice so I took him out to the playground as it’s been a while since we’ve been there.

There weren’t many kids out so B had the pick of the playground and I love hearing him laugh as it’s so sweet. πŸ™‚ The last picture is one taken later at home, I thought it was cute because he’s always happy.

After Brandon went to bed Maggie came down, we looked at our finances once again and I’m happy to report that I’m on my way to be in a position to buy a Porsche 911 in a few years. πŸ™‚ Not the most exciting way to end the day but I had a lot of fun.

Today things were a lot more low key, my folks, grandma, Estelle & Imran and Megan & Frank came over for lunch, they wanted to get me something but I told them to buy Brandon something instead. He’s my son and I love it when people pay a lot of attention to him. πŸ˜‰ Anyway the gift they got us was a very cool keyboard playmat, needless to say since it makes sounds Brandon loved it! I can also see me hating it in the future haha, it’s fun but um can get pretty annoying too.

Unfortunately he was so worked up by the guests that he didn’t nap in the afternoon but I have a feeling he’ll be checking out early tonight which is nice too. Anyway that’s all she wrote to my birthday weekend, no shooting but i had a ton of fun and love spending time with my family. I do feel pretty fortunate to have what I have, Maggie and I worked hard for it but ya things have gone very well.

I took tomorrow off for good measure as nothing is more fun than a long weekend right.

Happy birthday to me

So today I turn 33 years old and frankly I couldn’t care less. πŸ˜‰ I guess as a guy age doesn’t bother me as much and today is well just another day in my life. Anyway it’s been a pretty busy day, will post an update tomorrow or something.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me…

Hehe fun stuff

We decided to pull a prank on a coworker who was away on vacation and I think it turned out ok. πŸ˜‰

Luckily I had some packing saran wrap (when I moved the movers left it at my house) so yeah we did all the small items on his desk, keyboard, mouse, pens, etc and it was a lot of fun! Too bad I’m off on Monday so I can’t see his reaction but I’m sure it’ll be priceless.

Reading?!?

So last week I picked up a copy of the book No Easy day by “Mark Owen”, it’s a first hand account of a DEVGRU operator who was on the Osama Bin Laden raid last year and it certainly was an interesting read. I enjoyed reading about how he made it past DEVGRU selection and about the other missions he completed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think it was also the first book I’ve read in about 10 years, too bad it was so short and at ~300 pages I was able to finish it in just over a day. Oh well it was fun, I don’t know if I’ll read another book though it just feels like a waste of time. LOL I’m sure I’ll get some flak for that comment but so be it.

What a beautiful Nov weekend

So let’s start at the beginning shall we…

On Saturday morning Cindy called and told Maggie she’s going to drop by with about 20 minutes notice, I was kind of peeved at that because I hate surprise drop ins but whatever. I asked Maggie if that meant we were going to lunch, while she assured me we were not I knew we it would happen. At around 12PM they decided to go for lunch (as I predicted) and Maggie seemed surprised that all the near by restaurants were busy and would take a long time to seat a party of 8. We lucked out at the second restaurant, it was a dim sum place and it only took about 15 minutes to get us seated.

A bit later in the afternoon I left home to pick up Jason & Mario so we could go play airsoft at UA and when we arrived at around 3-3:30PM, it was already quite busy. There were lots of newbs so it was pretty easy hunting over all and as the day progressed more and more people showed up. I got to grenade countless people with the Madbull AGX attached to my PTW CQBR and that was a lot of fun. I was testing Jason’s lower and it performed flawlessly for me, I went through over a thousand rounds so hopefully it’s good once and for all. Sigh for such an expensive gun you figure Systema would get its motors right, if it goes down again I’m going to tell him to just get a FCC like Stephen.

The Spanish guys that Mario and I slaughtered a few weeks ago showed up later and as usual when they were hit they complained like there was no tomorrow… I try very hard never to complain about being shot (even if I get hit after I’m dead) as we’re playing a game where we’re shooting projectiles at each other. It’s also not my fault that they don’t know how to pie the corner properly but whatever I enjoyed killing them.

At around 7:30PM the owners turned off the lights so the three of us busted out our PVS-14s though it wasn’t a huge advantage because there were too many people so we couldn’t stalk. Still I found it a bit frustrating/comical when I was shooting one of the Spanish guys (I know who they are based on their gear) while he was engaging someone else and not in cover from my angle yet wasn’t calling the shots. Not only could I see him clearly with the PVS-14, when I had him lit up with my PEQ box and could see the BBs bounce off him his body and hands (he shook his hands after being shot)…

We left shortly afterwards, even though we were not at UA long, the games are always fast and action packed so it’s quite a work out.

On Sunday the weather was awesome so I took advantage of it and cleaned out my car, mowed the lawn for the last time in 2012 and raked the leaves. I also played with Brandon a lot, hehe I just love how sweet his voice is but then again all young children have cute high pitched voices.

Other than that I didn’t do anything else but relax which was very nice, heh too bad I have to go back to work today as I wouldn’t mind another day to be lazy. πŸ˜‰

4 more years

If you read my blog enough, you’ll know that I love politics and even though as a Canadian I have no say in what the Americans do, I find their political system fascinating but freakishly scary. I don’t believe I’ve commented or at least not much on the 2012 presidential elections because frankly I knew President Obama would win again but with that said, it’s remarkable that a man like Mitt Romney who stands for nothing even had a chance!

The rest of the world was definitely thinking that Americans are nuts if they feel that Romney and the rest of the GOP are good alternatives, I mean handing the keys back to the group that created the mess the world is in, yeah that’s a good idea… Lower taxes and deregulation does not directly lead to economic growth and the trickle down effect is a total lie. You figure Americans would figure that out by now but I guess if you repeat a lie enough, people start to believe it…

Anyway I hope the President has an easier time pushing through his policies though the next two years will be difficult as the Democratic party doesn’t have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and the GOP holds the House. Let’s see what the future brings, hopefully some sanity for the world’s sake prevails.

New Blaster

Even though I picked up a LBT 6094B vest for my birthday, over the weekend Maggie was encouraging me to buy a new gun and well temptation got the better of me. πŸ˜‰

On Saturday afternoon I went to Toronto Airsoft and purchased a Madbull AGX grenade launcher. Yes I know I’ve had many grenade launchers in the past but there was always something about RIS mounted M203s that I never like, I guess it’s because a real version doesn’t exist and finding a barrel mounted M203 in Canada is difficult. The AGX is RIS mounted but it’s as close to the M320 as it gets for now and the Iron Airsoft M320 is not available in Canada yet. May replace the AGX with that later but it’s not something I’m concerned about at the moment.

Anyway with the outdoor season wrapping up, I figure some extra firepower wouldn’t hurt in CQB situations though now I need more 40mm grenades lol. My PTW CQBR is now freaking heavy but that’s alright indoor games are always fast so it’s not like I have to lug it a great distance. Can’t wait to use it, will probably go to Ultimate Airsoft this coming weekend. πŸ™‚
