It’s just a game…

Thanks to all who showed up at TTAC3 yesterday it was fun. πŸ™‚ I enjoy those attack and defend style scenarios more than straight team elimination and last night’s task was quite difficult. While the night overall was enjoyable, a few of those “veteran” players really need to lighten up, airsoft is just a game.

Personally I don’t give a damn what one’s background is, you could be a nursery school teacher or an ex Canadian JTF2 when we’re on the floor, we’re all equal. More experienced players handing out advice is ok but I certainly do not agree with people scolding others. Sorry about making you run point Mike the first game, I didn’t expect the Paul to be such an asshole about things. The way he argued with Charlene later is also not cool, what’s the point of picking a fight 10 minutes after the fact?!? “Thanks” Russ for the advice on the flashlight… I’m sure when a real combat team enter a darker area with no night vision where the enemies are dug in, they don’t use flash lights. Oh wait yes they do…

If I wanted to play like you did Russ, I just won’t call my shots when I’m hit. It’s not just me who thinks this fat fuck doesn’t call shots, every member and player I’ve talked to has the same problem. Oh ya btw thanks for the back up when clearing the change room earlier… For a guy who likes to preach tactics, he didn’t attack the room with me and left me high and dry. In case you didn’t know, this is how you’re suppose to clear a room. The entry team should consists of at least two people (the more the better) the first person decides to take left or right (following odd numbered members go the same direction) while the second person (and following even numbered people) attack the opposite side. He didn’t cover his side because he’s an idiot. Sorry I hate hypocrites and yes I have a problem with Russ.

I have no problems naming names, the way these two handled things last night was not cool. Listening in on a few conversations, I heard the same complaints from other players. πŸ™ Perhaps next time these airsoft commandos should be on a team of their own to show us “newbs” how it’s done. Funny for all their “skill” they didn’t last longer than anyone else even though they were usually third or fourth in.

Thanks to Jason for bringing the light sabre, heh too bad I didn’t have a chance to deflect shots with it, you know I’d be able to. πŸ˜€ I was really happy that Mark, Charlene, Mike and even Maggie came out and it was fun to play with you guys as usual. πŸ™‚ Heh Maggie has a couple of bleeders (she’s now all girly about it ;)) and I have a rather nasty wound on my neck. Oh well it’s all in the name of fun and despite how hard the other two guys tried to ruin things, we all had a good time. πŸ˜€

Really wet at FR

Mark, Charlene, Maggie and I went to play at FlagRaiders (yes again ;)) and boy was it wet! So much for Charlene’s magic rain dance, it didn’t work and I want my million. πŸ˜€ Anyway we were initially invited to play a private game by DragonHawk, we’re considered “honest players” (which is quite an honour) but because of sagging attendance it was opened up to the public.

Overall Maggie and I had a great time, my M14 mechbox didn’t suffer a failure (first time the gun lasted a whole game woo :)) however it did have a feeding problem which affects all highly upgraded M14’s. πŸ™ It got very frustrating as only every second or third shot would fire, I don’t think I can fix this thing myself and I’ll probably have to get Bartek to take care of the issue as he’s a pro. Maggie ran into some bad luck as well and broke the tappet plate inside the P90, she finished up the day with the MP5K.

B_Tappet.jpg

Oh well it does happen, it was the stock part and an upgraded tappet plate should be more durable.

Since it was Remembrance Day, at 11AM we paid respects to fallen soldiers of the various wars. To those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and veterans, thank you for fighting for our way of life.

I got plenty of kills yesterday but still felt I played rather poorly… Maggie and Charlene were a lot of fun to watch and they played great. It was a blast to watch Maggie and Charlene rush a hill with three people defending it and overall they played very well!. πŸ™‚ I didn’t take pictures because it was raining pretty much the whole day but Norrie snapped some great pictures and videos. πŸ™‚

DSC01171.jpgMaggie.jpgBoth.jpg

Heh you can see a video of Charlene and Maggie at the front line here, Charlene got hit but Maggie was able to stay low. Team GHOSTS usually wears Multicam but my teammates weren’t there so I wore North American Woodland. It’s a bit too dark for a fall game but it’s not a milsim and we’re just having fun. πŸ™‚

Perhaps it was the cold weather but I heard a lot of whining especially from experienced players yesterday. Every airsoft’er I’ve played with does not goes head hunting (if that’s the only shot though, take it) but shots to the face do happen especially in confined spaces. If you’re so worried and get upset when you get hit in the face, wear a full face mask instead of goggles. Sorry for this mini rant but it’s ruins the fun to hear all the bitching and complaining.

Thanks again Derrick and I look forward to the next game! πŸ˜€

Guarder Polycarbonate Piston Heads Suck!

Unless your airsoft gun is using a version 2 mechbox, do not install a Guarder polycarbonate piston head! Not knowing any better I replaced my broken M14 piston head with another Guarder polycarbonate, since I had an extra and it’s a good thing I checked the mechbox before this weekend’s field game.

PHead1.jpg

That was only after ~100 rounds of test firing! As you can see there’s a small crack near the top three holes similar in what happened to my P90 piston head, although not as far developed.

In case you’re wondering what my M14 setup is, I’m using a Guarder SP110 spring (with a few coils cut off so it fires 400 fps), a Guarder spring guide, the stock cylinder and stock cylinder head. Nothing special and stress from the SP110 should be consider moderate. Heh if you’re wondering about my competency, the only part I’ve had a problem with is the Guarder polycarbonate piston head. That and I’ve worked on 10 AEGs so far this year. πŸ˜‰

MadMax of ASC Armoury posted this thread at Airsoft Canada and they’ve confirmed that the Guarder polycarbonate piston head is weak and prone to breaking. πŸ™ They have since pulled the product from their shelves (kudos to you guys for not selling them anymore!) but you should keep this in mind if you deal with other retailers! It would suck if your piston head shatters while playing a game like mine did a few weeks ago.

I’m happy to report that the M14 piston head was replaced with a Guarder aluminum model and the gun is firing nicely. Heh the aluminum piston head will not break but it adds stress to a mechbox. Knowing my luck, I’ll be the first person in the world to break a version 7 mechbox…

TTAC3, Dim sum, Borat and Shopping =D

On Friday I “tricked” my cousin Douglas into going to TTAC3 with me for a quick and dirty shootout and it was fun. πŸ™‚ We played a house scenario where there are gunman inside and the attacking force must go in after them, I enjoy those type of games more than team elimination. Anyway Douglas played quite well, he was out of place earlier in the game but as the night progressed he got better.

1.JPG4.JPG3.JPG2.JPG

There were quite a few pictures taken (thanks Jesse!) and you can check them out here. I had a great time, I was testing Maggie’s TM Hi Capa 4.3 which was upgraded with a Nineball 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel and a brushed aluminum slide, heh everyone at TTAC3 loved it. I’m happy to report that the gun performed very well and at least at short distances, it’s predicable as my TM Hi Capa 5.1. Maggie keeps asking when the next field game is (she doesn’t want to play TTAC3 because it hurts more), hopefully we can test it out next Saturday. πŸ˜€

4.3_1.jpg4.3_2.jpg

Isn’t it pretty? πŸ˜‰ I got plenty of kills last night and killed Douglas a two or three times, he didn’t get me once. πŸ˜€ Unfortunately later in the evening a couple of other “regulars” showed up, one of which I hate playing against. This unnamed person doesn’t call his shots and it’s really starting to get to me. It happened again last night the dude was in a corner less than 2 meters away from me, I shot him three times (I could see the BBs bounce off). As I’m about to move on to engage other enemies, he raises his gun and shoots me almost 4 seconds after I shot him! It’s not just me who has a problem with this guy, I’ve talked to a other TTAC3 regulars and they all have similar problems grr…

Maggie and I got up early on Saturday to get some dim sum and it was yummy. πŸ™‚ We planned to go out with my sisters but Estelle has a cold and Megan has a lip infection so they stayed home, that’s alright it means I have more to eat.

Food.jpg

Yum trust me it tastes even better than it looks! Next time you’re back from Waterloo Estelle, I’ll take you and Megan out for some.

After lunch Maggie and I went shopping a bit and as usual she dragged me from store to store woo.

maggie.jpgTree.jpg

“What do you think about this Colin?” “What do you think about that?” “Do they match?” LOL clothes all look the same to me, Maggie often complains I have no sense of style yet she still seeks my opinion… πŸ˜‰ Walking along Queen St. W I saw this tree with “hug me” painted on it and I just had to take a picture of it, isn’t it awesome? I didn’t hug the tree but I definitely wanted to!

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is a very funny movie and if you like to laugh, you should definitely check it out. The humor might be a bit uncivilized but much of it pokes at Western society rather than making fun of Kazakhstan. There are so many priceless moments, I don’t know how Sacha Baron Cohen can keep his cover without laughing at all the stupid people.

Anyway we ended the day out early because I want to watch the Leaf game, hopefully they can win tonight although I doubt it considering they’re playing in Buffalo.

Edit: 9:33PM edit, the Leafs beat Buffalo 4-1 woo! πŸ™‚

New Hi Capa 5.1 Inner Barrel

I just received a Tanio Koba twist Hi Capa 5.1 inner barrel and man I hope it lives up to expectation! πŸ˜€ These inner barrels are specifically designed for low to moderate power airsoft guns and are suppose to fire more consistently than regular smooth barrels.

TB.jpg

The twisting groves are suppose to help stabilize the BB quicker which should equal more consistent shots. From what I “hear”, these barrels also deliver straighter more predictable BB trajectories, that should allow the user to adjust for environmental conditions easier.

The Tanio Koba Hi Capa 5.1 inner barrel certainly has its work cut out for it, the Nineball 6.03mm tightbore that I was using earlier is already pretty awesome and has gotten me kills at distances of 25m (80’+). πŸ˜€

Yes more airsoft…

Yesterday I went to the Greater Toronto Area Milsim Airsoft Convention held at TTAC3 and it was fun. Things moved slowly but it was a great intro to the sport for newbies (and boy there were a lot of them). I was pleasantly surprised at the attendance level especially since in the previous couple of weeks, airsoft politics flared up and a few teams/retailers pulled out.

In any case I had a good time and if I had remembered that there would be a load out competition, I probably would have brought my gear down too. πŸ˜‰ Anyway here are a couple of pictures, I took quite a few but some didn’t want them posted online so I’ll respect their wishes.

WW2.jpgloadouts.jpg

I was very impressed with the WW2 airsofters, their setups looked very authentic. πŸ™‚

In the mean time I was able to score a TM Hi Capa 4.3. I won’t get into how I got it but in any case the gun is a perfect side arm for Maggie. It’s slightly smaller than my Hi Capa 5.1 but the mags are cross compatible and most importantly, it shoots very well. The TM Hi Capa series are a cut above most other GBB’s in terms of performance on the field and I can’t wait to try it out. πŸ˜€ It’s completely stock at the moment however I have a metal slide and tightbore inner barrel coming in which should improve things.

4.3_4.jpg4.3_3.jpg

Picked up an additional two 4.3 mags (which look very nice in my 5.1) and Maggie is happy. πŸ™‚

My TM P90 RDS was not shooting up to its potential and the problem happened to be Guarder’s cylinder, it’s the wrong model for a shorter barrel weapon like this. I put the old cylinder into the gun and it’s firing a nice 105m/s (345 fps) with 0.2g BBs. πŸ™‚ I’m a fan of Guarder products but I’ve had a few issues with their polycarbonate piston heads recently. Last week my M14 piston head failed all together and after taking apart the P90, I found this…

Piston_Head.jpg

The piston head makes contact with a rubber pad on the back of the Guarder cylinder head which helps absorb some of the impact yet it still cracked! The spring I’m using is a Guarder SP90 which is not a high tension spring and the gun was only fielded twice briefly. If you plan on upgrading your gun take note, it would suck if you suffered from the same issue too. I have a couple of aluminum piston heads handy, perhaps that’s the way to go with non Version 2 mech boxes…

Anyway the wknd is not over yet and I’m going to enjoy my Sunday afternoon, just wanted to make a post. πŸ™‚

Airsoft Super Weekend

Overall I had an excellent weekend. πŸ˜€

Saturday morning I met Charlene at my place early (7:30 AM :() so we could go to a FlagRaiders field game. Seeing as how the outdoor airsoft season is fast coming to a close, I want to hit up as many outdoor games as possible before the weather turns cold. πŸ˜‰ Anyway my task for the day was to test out my M14 tweaks, would it shoot better than last time? Since Charlene doesn’t have an AEG, she used my G36C with quite a bit of success and she played quite well.

The first few games were straight team elimination and I played alright, my M14 had great range and I got quite a few kills however I kept getting killed because of my positioning. Grr, I always start games slow. πŸ™ The fourth game was were I started to have problems with my M14 and the gun completely seized up. I was furious with the thing and wanted to throw it into the garbage… I’ll get into later what was wrong (completely my fault I later found out) so I was left with just my Hi Capa 5.1 side arm on the field.

It turns out I wasn’t at much of a disadvantage with my pistol on the field. Yes I had limited ammo but range and accuracy of the Hi Capa 5.1 was awesome, it easily matched that of stock or moderately upgraded AEG’s! I demonstrated that to a bunch of guys during the pistols game. πŸ˜‰

Highlight of my weekend below!

One guy didn’t have a sidearm and only had a bolt action sniper rifle (on the other team) and during the first pistols game he picked us quite easily because the two teams started far apart. Before the next game, some of my teammates were talking about how to take the sniper out first since he had pretty easy pickings the first time around. I could clearly see the guy and decided to take the shot. I had confidence in the accuracy of my Hi Capa 5.1 so I took my time to aim and bang. To everyone’s surprise (including mine) I was able to hit the guy and he must have been at least 100’ (guestimate) away! πŸ˜€ In all fairness I think the shot was wind assisted but that was definitely the best shot I’ve ever done, I’m not sure if I could have done it better with the M14 had it been working…

During regular play the Hi Capa 5.1 still performed very well. One time I was able to advance into the school bus (which is very easy to defend, hard to attack), I was able to take out 4 guys (around that I think) and even got to mercy Charlene. πŸ˜‰

Here is the link to the pictures that were taken and here are a few teasers. πŸ™‚

normal_IMG_7553.JPGnormal_IMG_7588.JPGnormal_IMG_7599.JPGnormal_IMG_76061.JPGnormal_IMG_7638.JPG

On Sunday I decided to take apart the M14 to find out what was wrong. What happened was the piston head cracked and shards of plastic jammed the gears. I have since replaced the piston head and its firing fine again. Hopefully I’ll be able test it out soon.

piston1.jpgpiston2.jpg

Sunday afternoon I spent at TTAC3 going through its ATQ2 course. It’s an intermediate player course which teaches CQB tactics in a two person group, how to clear rooms, how to attack T junctions and how to cover 360 degrees.

I didn’t get to take any pictures but Albert was able to take a bunch of videos with my camera. They turned out great but out of respect for Brian and his course, I will not post them online. If you want to learn, you should attend the course, its well worth it. πŸ™‚

Anyway that’s how I spent my free time, aside from the stupid M14 it was great and dare I say close to a perfect weekend! πŸ˜€

TM Hi Capa 5.1 Barrel Mod

Earlier in the week I dropped by ASC Armoury to pick up a few parts and Carl showed me the work he did on his TM Hi Capa 5.1. Specifically he got rid of the barrel wobbles (inner between outer and outer between slide) and was telling me how it dramatically decreased grouping size.

He machined custom shims and his results were definitely excellent, I witnessed them first hand on Friday. πŸ˜‰ Anyway I don’t have the skill, know how or tools to make myself what he did but I do have a lot of electrical tape and patience. πŸ˜€

Barrels.jpgInnerBarrel.jpgOutterBarrel.jpg

Yes it’s crude but the results are rather surprising! At 6 meters groupings after 10 shots are within 5 cm!!! Note one shot was taken every second I didn’t spray the area but then again I didn’t have time to fully set either, that’s what makes the results so surprising!

Unfortunately I didn’t test how the gun performed before the mod. With the tighter inner barrel, the gun performed pretty well but not up to this level for sure. I can’t wait to try the TM Hi Capa 5.1 in a game situation. πŸ™‚

Never enough CQB… ;-)

What better way to spend a Friday the 13th than at TTAC3. πŸ˜‰ Not going to write a huge wrap up, I played rather poorly but oh well. It was nice to finally see Carl in action and that dude is pretty crazy. Was a ton of fun to play with and I totally love his TM Hi Capa 5.1, it’s super sexy and accurate! Anyway as usual I took a game off to snap some pics and here they are. πŸ™‚

normal_IMG_7459.JPGnormal_IMG_7457.JPGnormal_IMG_7461.JPGnormal_IMG_7466.JPG

I seem to be having a problem with my TM Hi Capa 5.1, the mags are jamming. A couple of times the jams got me killed. πŸ™ Anyway onward and upward I guess…

I touched someone…

Just received this PM on the Airsoft Canada forums and thought it was quite funny…

Here was my reply.

Hey there.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, to each their own I guess. Feel free to spread your point of views about the world and life on your own site, pass me a link when it’s up, I’d love to read about it.

Colin

Yeah people can be real tough on the internet and this dude should grow up. People have all types of vices, yes I enjoy dressing up like a solider and playing with toy guns. I also enjoy other “childish” things like playing videogames, computers and driving fast. Airsoft is not illegal and I’m not hurting anyone so fuck off. I could care less what others think of me or my activities especially from strangers on the internet. Would it be better if I drink or gambled?

If you don’t like my opinions or activities that’s fair enough I’m not trying to push them onto you. Thanks for your PM though, I enjoyed it and I guess in a way you’re blog worthy. πŸ˜‰
