Maggie will attest to the fact that I hate shopping but today after work today with the Canon Rebel XTi, we walked around the downtown core. Along the way I took pictures of things that I thought were interesting (mainly things to complain ;-)) so here they are.
I know this is something that really bothers Daniel, anyway is it just us or are these “mobile advertising platforms” are a complete waste of resources? This truck’s ultimate goal is to drive aimlessly around the city in a lame attempt to attract attention. I checked out MOTOMEDIA’s website and it appears to suggest that its trucks use biodiesel but that’s not the point. To be truly environmentally friendly, we have to reduce our consumption! Also at the moment renewable fuels like bioethanol and biodiesel are quite dirty to manufacture. Sad I wanted to see 300 but because they chose to advertise this way, I won’t.
I have to say this next guy kicks ass very much. I didn’t get his name (Maggie was cold and wanted to go to HBC) but instead of begging for money, he picks up trash and asks for donations. As we walked closer I observed him pick up all types of refuse, yet no one was kind enough to give him any money. We gave him $20 and thanked him for his service, dude you’re awesome!
When I got my FutureShop gift cards, I also got Maggie a $100 gift certificate to HBC company of stores and we were in for a rude surprise. After picking out some cosmetics we were told that we had to use the entire $100 gift certificate all at once! After speaking with the manager, she pointed out the clause on the back which states the gift cert cannot be used for payment towards HBC credit cards or payment towards HBC gift cards. Thus because of the latter, there would be no way for us to carry a balance.
Gee it would have been nice if RBC Rewards (Royal Bank) told me that before I ordered the gift certificate! Another thing I don’t understand, with the ability to claim denominations as high as $500, does Royal Bank and HBC expect people to spend that type of money all at once?!? Sounds a bit ludicrous to me and it’s a good thing I only got her $100. Needless to say though, Maggie had no problems spending it all and then some. 😉
Maggie was wearing a new pair of boots which turned out to be uncomfortable so we called the night early and went home. Heh I think it’s the first time that we were in a mall and Maggie wanted to go home before I did. Fun and I look forward to taking more pictures with the Rebel XTi, it was a lot of fun today! 😀
