Earlier in the week I received my Thumper TG6 distraction device and absolutely could not wait to try it out at TTAC3. Essentially it’s a sound grenade which generates a 120dB of noise when activated and should add a new dimension to the CQB games that we play.
I picked up the “Starter” kit which comes with three CO2 cartridges and three blasting caps. Originally I planned to use the grenade twice however when setting it up for the second go around, I accidentally pierced the CO2 cartridge which caused the thing to go off in my hand (luckily it was a slow leak so it didn’t blow in my face).
To say the grenade worked well is an understatement. Previously games without the grenade resulted in usually in 40-50% casualties on the attacking team when storming a 4 man defended position. When the grenade was used, the attacking team did not suffer one loss! Heh sorry to Mark, I didn’t mean to the grenade at your feet and I’m glad you covered your ears. 😉
I wrote a review on ASC and you can check it out here, if you’re into airsoft this is something you should definitely consider getting!
I also got to check out Mark’s new AK47 and I have to say that thing is totally awesome. Full metal and wood, the gun is super solid and internally it’s upgraded to the max. I was envious, I have a lot of guns but man that thing just looked so awesome. We’ll see how it performs next Sunday when we play a field game at Wasaga.
Also got to see JR’s new TM VSR G-Spec BA rifle, it looked pretty darn sweet too. Can’t wait to see how it performs on the field, hopefully he’ll make the Wasaga game too. Last pic is of Stephen, the other guys were setting up and I was just screwing around with the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. Stephen the camera is pretty awesome, you know you want one… 😉
Rant of the night
Generally I try to be friendly and courteous to everyone but last night there was one player who really irked me. This fellow is one of the guys I ranted about earlier in my “What’s the point?!?” post and things got worse last night.
His CQB experience is well limited yet he continually voices his opinions, I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if his suggestions were logical but most just didn’t make sense. Next the guy’s job most of the night was to give the entry teams fire support (cover us while we get into position) yet almost could never hold his line.
He then demands that the entry team identify themselves before exiting the complex to look for more enemies otherwise he’ll shoot. It got so ridiculous I ended up telling him “shoot at the people pointing a gun at you, not at the guys with their backs to you” but that didn’t work and there was a lot of friendly fire.
The dude continually boasts about his superior abilities and aggressiveness yet camps at the very back of the maps, one time in the “1 in 2 in” game when he was running point, he stopped at the map entry (and thus not allowing his 4 teammates to get around)! They must have been yelling “GO!” for like a good 5 seconds before he would move.
I don’t mean to be picking on the guy but damn last night I wasn’t much in the mood for BS. I’m glad I’m not the only who feels this way, there were many other vets who were growing tired of his antics. I guess worst of all is that he doesn’t pay at the end of the night! Brian mentioned that it’s the second time he skipped out without paying, I guess we’ll see what happens next time he shows up.
End Rant
Anyway I’ll spend the rest of the weekend relaxing and getting comfortable with the Digital Rebel XTi. 🙂 The camera is great and I think I’m getting better with it.
