On Friday Jia invited Maggie and I to his place for a farewell dinner party, he’s moving to the US and wanted to have a small gathering. Jacky, Julia and Frank were also in attendance. Anyway the night did not start off well as Jia’s car was towed, lol for years he’s been parking in front of a No Frills coming downtown to work and on his last day he gets towed… 😉
Anyway after picking it up we went to his place and he has a pretty nice home out in Ajax, right next to lake Ontario, it’s very tranquil. Throughout the week we were both trash talking each other over our abilities at Wii Tennis and I made a deal with him, I’ll have a drink for each time he beats me. It’s significant because I haven’t had alcohol in two years but anyway onto the match.
Jia beat me straight sets the first game but had difficult time in the last set, I was starting to get comfortable. Since I lost I had a beer but that would be the last drink I was required to have ;). The next 6-8 games played that night were all won by me and Jia conceded that I’m a better Wii tennis player (woo!). 😀 Near the end of the night, I agreed to have a few shots with him and while it tasted awful, it was fun. 😉
On Saturday initially the team was suppose to play a large game at the Durham Tag field however some last minute confusion on legalities. The team had decided to skip the event instead of risk getting in trouble but Mark and I were restless so we went there anyway (minus our gear and guns) to check things out.
After trying twice unsuccessfully trying to get on the 401, I had almost felt like fate was stopping us from going to the game. Anyway after a bit of a car ride, we were able to make it onto the 401 and were on our way. An aside, Mark and I have been friends for a long time and when the dude drinks the night before, he has nasty farts and kept farting the whole way there and back! Thanks dude, that part was fun. 😛
Anyway we got to the general area of the game but was unable to find the field. We drove on the right streets but there were absolutely no signs indicating where this place was. After driving in circles for about 45 minutes we decided to call it a day and headed back. On our way back to my place we stopped by Princess Auto and man I have to say they have a lot of cool stuff there, picked up a few odds and ends that I’ve always wanted (rubber mallet, punch set, 7.62 NATO ammo box).
After he dropped me off, I lounged around at my place surfing the internet and tried to coordinate JR’s Bday social at the Korean BBQ that he likes. Stephen picked Mario, Shawn and I up a bit early and we dropped by Best Buy to get a gift cert for JR, after we went to Stephen’s place. Heh there we saw his cute cats along with his beautiful new Sony Bravia 52” LCD TV. 😉 Makes my 37” Viewsonic look like utter crap!
At 8:30PM we met up with Jessie, Jason, Alan, JR, Mark and Charlene at the Korean BBQ place and had dinner. A bit later into the evening by coincidence Ice-man and a couple of SnowDragons happen to get a table right next to us, they told us that a lot of people bailed from the Border War game we were suppose to attend that day so I didn’t feel quite as bad.
After dinner we headed to a bubble tea place for drinks and desert, after questioning JR’s sexuality for an hour or so (hey it’s his bday! :D) we called it a night and went home. Looking back at things I’m almost glad we didn’t go to the Border War game, if we had, we definitely would have had the energy to have fun after.
On Sunday I went to my parents place to help my dad reinstall his Wacom Tablet software and help set up VPN so my mom could work from home. Besides that I played a bit with Simba and man he is just so cute… Even though he’s almost 3, he’s still very much a kitten and that’s definitely cool, makes me want to get a cat. 🙂 No pictures because I forgot to take my camera, after coming home I did nothing but screw around on the computer and on my guns the rest of the day. Very relaxing and I felt great this morning. 😀
