Religious freedom my ass

Reading things like this makes me so happy that I live in Canada however this crap is spreading up here as well… Anyway there’s a nurse in Tampa that’s suing a health clinic for discrimination because they didn’t hire her after she told them she would refuse to prescribe birth control.

Sara Hellwege, a nurse-midwife in Tampa, Florida, opposes most forms of birth control, including the birth control pill. Well, when she applied for a position with the Tampa Family Health Centers she was asked about her affiliation with anti-contraception groups. That’s when she informed human resources that she would refuse to prescribe birth control to people who specifically requested it.

Needless to say, she was informed that prescribing birth control was a part of the job – and she wasn’t hired.

Now Hellwege is suing the clinic, claiming she’s being discriminated against based on her religious views.

Am I the only one that thinks she’s freaking ridiculous? How the hell does someone taking birth control affect her, if her beliefs tell her not to use it then she shouldn’t but rather what she wants to do is push her iron age beliefs onto others. I think the thing that bothers me the most is, when someone says something against this insanity, we’re not being religiously tolerant. How about them respecting the views of others, would they dare be tolerant themselves if a Muslim was pushing their agenda?

Religion can’t die soon enough.
