A bit late but I hope all the fathers out there had a good fathers day. Before I get to that though I’ll start with my weekend.
On Friday I attended a private training session at TTAC3 and it was fun, the crowd that attended is always fun to play with. Heh on the way home I was following a dark grey Toyota Camry briefly and thought it was Stephen’s car so I made some hand gestures to it from the rear, unfortunately when I passed it I noticed the driver was a woman! LOL oops! π
Saturday in the morning we did some banking, grocery shopping and played with little B till he went down for a nap, then I decided to take a nap as well. Mid afternoon I left for another airsoft game and it was great! While I can’t talk about the venue (lol told the host I wouldn’t), I had a lot of fun and this place is absolutely awesome. We played a variety of games and lol I absolutely love having an IR designator (eye safe power levels) as it makes aiming with the PVS-14 much easier. Move the dot over the target and fire, thanks to that little piece of equipment I was making first shot kills at over 100′ successfully!
I was able to hit people’s feet under a big rig at around 70′ with the NV/IR laser combo and hitting the top third of someone’s head (it’s the only thing I saw) at around the same distance. LOL no one said fighting had to be fair right…
Sunday was my first true father’s day as last year Brandon was with Maggie in China and I really enjoyed it. He’s such a good boy and I certainly felt very fortunate to have what I have in my life. In the afternoon we went to my folks place to help them move some furniture around as they’re putting hard wood floor in one of the living rooms and re-carpeting the upstairs bedrooms.
Brandon was a bit fussy but he put on a cute show for everyone and I know my grandmother loved it. π
All in all a great weekend, back to the daily grind now.
I have to say house hunting was fun but it’s also stressful at the same time and I’m glad this weekend I didn’t have to look anymore. π Instead I planned to do nothing, which is exactly what I like to do. π
On Friday we went to my folks place to pick up Brandon’s birth certificate (we moved a bunch of things there to declutter our house when we were staging) and decided to take my folks out for dinner. On the way to the restaurant, we all went for a drive by my new home and man I have to say I absolutely love the neighborhood. It’s so scenic, there are some crappy apartments on the main streets but once inside it’s very nice. I can’t wait, I hope that next time I’m around I can take some pictures…
Saturday I reconfigured my 6094 vest and put a couple of grenade pouches upside down as I find it’s easier to access those pouches that way. I guess I’ll find out next week when I go play airsoft at the new urban facility we’re hosting Rhino at. π
I also swapped out the front shingles for some real Tactical Tailor shingles in CB, nothing beats real gear. Right now I’m still running a repro 6094 vest but I’ll definitely get a real LBT 6094a soon as it seems wrong that I’m running PTWs, a real ops-core helmet, a PVS-14 and using a repro vest… Ugh talking to Bray earlier in the week is bad, now I’m considering a new mounting system for my NV, to replace the J arm / rhino arm combination with something a bit more stable. Too bad it’s so expensive. π
Spent a lot of time with the boy too and man Brandon is just so much fun, he’s always happy and it certainly makes looking after him easier.
Hehe he’s a good boy. Life is good and yeah I’m a lucky man as I have it all!
So the lady in the VW called me Friday night to talk and it would have been funny if the whole situation weren’t so sad… The first thing I told her was the deal I’m offering is the only one available, basically as I outlined below as long as she doesn’t fight the insurance claim, I’ll call the cops to tell them that we worked things out. Initially she complained I even went to insurnace saying I should have talked to her first but lol how could I do that when she took off… Later she asked me if I could bring it to a body shop she knows, I declined and told her I could only deal with ones that were approved by my insurance company. Lastly she told me if there is to be any communique that I text her cell phone before calling, she doesn’t want her husband to find out.
Saturday Mark showed Maggie & I (my dad also tagged along) 9 houses starting from Steeles & Don Mills going all the way down to the Beaches area. Of the nine, there were a few I liked though the one I really like, Maggie thinks is too small. We liked the houses we saw along the Bloor line as it would cut my commute time to like 20 minutes each way (which is awesome) but those places were even smaller. We’re keeping a few of those as backup for now. Nothing though really “wowed” me so I’m considering continuing the search but frankly time is getting tight and I’ll have to make a decision soon. There are 4 other houses in the Fairview mall area that I’d like to see and will try to arrange with Mark for tomorrow after work.
Today I didn’t do too much, went to Gymboree with Brandon and there are way too many people there. They should limit kids who participate to 2 adults maximum, when grand parents & siblings come (who are older) the play area gets full very fast.
Earlier last week I was bad and bought a friend’s 2012 Systema CQBR SCK PTW (with hopup, motor mods & Colt engraved receiver)… I really shouldn’t have but it was an excellent price and I gave in to temptation. Since I already have a CQBR upper that I’m happy with, I traded the new one (which had a real fancy Daniel Defense rail & a real vltor flip up sight) with Jason’s M4 upper, put a RIS on it and now it looks like a regular M4, which is exactly what I like. π Thanks to Mario for the pistol grip too, the one I got was um ugly.
Don’t know if I posted it earlier but I sold my old 2007 SCK PTW a few weeks back and was really missing having 2 PTWs so now I have a backup again in case one goes down! I guess I’ll make the new 2012 lower as my primary and swap the uppers as needed.
Mmm plain looking but I like my guns to look utilitarian rather than all “riced up”. Sigh if I only had time to play, oh well June is right around the corner. π
So my long weekend started on Friday, every long weekend I get an extra day off from my company. π
Anyway I took Brandon in for a hearing test and man was that sound proof room scary! I wish I could have taken a picture but the room was maybe 4×4′ in size and for some reason some of the steel mesh was rusty which gave the box a very creepy feel. To make matters worse, there were three toys with drums which move and is suppose to attract the attention of the kid and boy were those toys scary! Reminds me of a horror movie where when the toy is drumming, you know someone is going to die lol.
Brandon was very scared and struggling the whole time, I felt so bad because he was crying very hard and I could feel his heart pumping fast. π The good news is he reacted to all the toys and it looks like his hearing is ok. I guess he’s just going to be a late talker, he says a few words but he should be farther ahead right now.
On Saturday I wanted to take things easy because I had an airsoft game to attend in the afternoon so we just went out for an early lunch. Stephen picked me up at around 4:30PM and we were off to Flag Raiders.
So it was a terminator night game and Chris broke up the attendees into small groups so they could run around the field scavenging for the objectives that were placed there prior to the game. Teams would start off with no technology and would need to trade in the items for tech upgrades (lights, NV, etc) and it certainly made for an interesting night. I started the game with just Stephen and Jeremy and frankly it was quite difficult to find anything due to the darkness… It’s alright though we survived and eventually got teched up to use NV. π On the restart I was put into a team of 5 and we were a lot more successful finding and securing the objectives as there was plenty of firepower to go around.
Later we decided to “hunt” the terminator and man he was hard to kill! We were able to shoot him all over and still couldn’t find his kill switch, good for Jeremy (another one) though he was a good sport!
Ugh I rented out the ARES CQBR to another player and he tripped and fell on it snapping the buffer tube right off. Sigh it’s alright, it was an accident so I’m not upset and am glad that the guy didn’t hurt himself.
Today we didn’t do too much, went out for for a Pho lunch and to get little B’s haircut. It was pretty sad to watch him during the trim as he was crying quite hard. The haircut didn’t even turn out that well but I guess it’s hard when he doesn’t cooperate.
There were also viewings every day so far this long weekend (and another tomorrow) but nothing solid yet… I hope the house sells soon, definitely time to move on.
On Friday Mark my real estate agent came over to take some pictures of my house and to sort out the paper work and my house will officially be on the market tomorrow. It’s an exciting time and I hope it sells quickly, this house has been good to us but it’s time for us to move on now…
Saturday I hosted an airsoft game at Flag Raiders and it was fun. It was intended to be a low key simple skirmish for novice players but lol it was mainly vets that came out. Not that I blame them, the weather was absolutely beautiful and overall it seemed people enjoyed themselves which is good. I did bitch out this one guy after lunch (the FR rot dogs didn’t help my illness), he had the nerve to tell me to “do anything, elimination to get moving” while I was waiting for people to gather! Needless to say I told that guy off and he can do whatever the hell he likes at his game. At my games I do what I want.
After the game I went to Douglas’ place for a birthday BBQ and it was fun! It was the first time I went to his new home, the interior is a bit dated but who cares it’s better than a condo right. π
Sunday we didn’t do too much. I cleaned the house further and when Brandon went down for his afternoon nap I went to Home Depot to buy some paint to touch up a few places. Dropped by my folks place in the mid afternoon to rifle through a few boxes I have stored there then came home.
Busy but fun weekend, too bad the rain and cooler weather comes back tomorrow… At least I’m off, Maggie and I both booked the day off as we have to take the little guy to see the doctor in the morning woo.
Chris has put a lot of effort in his marquee game and set up a swanky website to track and manage things and the game will be held during the last weekend of July. The guys and I will be running as a squad, it’s too bad so many of my boys are working as game control but it’ll be fun none the less.
No helicopters this year but an awesome new venue and I’m really excited to check things out. π We own the night and I can’t wait to play the game! π
So a bunch of the guys are organizing to hit the Operation Blacksheep at Fort Drum NY and oh man I’d absolutely love to go! Trying to work out the details with Maggie and to my surprise she didn’t object as much as I thought she would so there’s a chance. π
Doesn’t it look awesome?!? The Youtube video is from 2010’s game and yeah a field like that makes Picton feel like a playground. It’s going to be complicated though because the team is hosting Op: Rhino a few weeks later so Maggie might not be happy with me gone two weekends in such close proximity. I’ll figure something to smooth it out hopefully. π
So yesterday I went to Picton with some of the boys to play Jim’s 12 hour game and it was fun. It was difficult to breach the buildings during the day as the insurgent group’s respawn was right next to one of the buildings and they did a good job defending the complex, that and our side lacked central leadership so most of the teams “did their own thing”. I was just a grunt for this game, Chris was in charge of our team and I have to say it was rather relaxing just playing and not having to worry about the plan and stuff.
Heh most of the day we just bided our time and waited for the night portion of the campaign since that’s where we really shine. Of the 9 guys in my group, only one person did not have NV (6 guys PVS-14s, 1 PVS-15 & 1 European Gen 3 NV setup) so we had no difficulties dealing with enemies in the darkness.
A picture taken with Mario’s gNote phone (I was on the US side hence the OD US flag patch on my right arm), I wish we took a team picture but we were busy setting up the CP early on. My stupid PTW was chopping BBs a lot and I now suspect it may be the magazines. I’m torn if I should get the new PMag style mags or just get new internals for my current mags… PMags are nice and light but they don’t match the look of my guns. π
After the game the boys and I hit up the Fifth Wheel restaurant for a victory meal and that’s always fun. Got home at around 4:10AM and lol I’ve been wasted every since, it was a difficult Sunday.
Friday night I went down to FACT (along with the other GHOSTS & those who will not be named) to help Brian set up the place for the Toronto Airsoft Convention 2012 (TAC12). There were a lot of vendors showing up so I assisted in moving their wares to the appropriate spots and lol even got buried behind boxes of gear in the cargo elevator when I helped Army Issue load things. I told Maggie that I would be late but she called to bug me anyway so I left at around 10PM. It wasn’t so bad, the general layout and tables were all set up, it was just up to the vendors to load up their stuff anyway.
Saturday morning I left bright and early as I wanted to find a good parking spot and set up the table.
I didn’t take any other pictures, we had the usual suspect of gear retailers and a couple of new gun sellers but it’s not anything I haven’t seen in the years before and frankly I wasn’t that interested in new stuff. I was there mainly to talk to the newbies and friends who showed up and that part was a blast. π I was also pretty good, I budgeted to spend around $200-300 but ended up only spending $85. I purchased a 5.56 NATO bullet belt, some patches and a very cool tactical apron in multicam! π
After the convention I gave Mario a ride home before picking up the family to go out to eat. We decided to go to this spicey food restaurant in Scarborough and it was good.
The rest of the night was nothing special, just went home and relaxed.
This morning we went out to T&T to pick up some groceries and to a Pho restaurant to have some lunch. After Brandon woke from his nap we went to Earl Bales park to walk around and it was fun! There were way too many older kids at the main playground for Brandon to play, though we did let him go down the big slide a few times. We walked around and found another playground behind the community center which was designed for younger children and there Brandon had a blast. π
Hehe his laugh is so sweet. π He’s a bit fussy right now but meh that’s out of my control. Nothing planned for the rest of the evening, just resting up and getting ready for tomorrow…
