Back to the grind…

August 24th, 2010

After two weeks off, I went back to work today and boy was it busy!  In the few spare moments, I did miss Brandon and found myself looking at pictures of him on my blog. :)  Oh well in any case Maggie tells me he was fussy during the day but lol I guess that’s not really my problem haha…  He’s quietly sleeping right now, I went to pay him a visit but he look so at peace that I didn’t pick him up.  Will take pictures tonight and perhaps post them up later if I’m not too tired.

8:44 PM Edit: Took a few pictures, here they are. :)  Yeah that’s a scratch on his face, Maggie said he scratched himself earlier…

Not here yet…

August 3rd, 2010

So I’ve been bombarded with messages and calls from everyone asking if Brandon has been born yet and to answer that…  No.  Maggie’s cervix is not ready yet (went to the doctor’s a few hours ago) so he’s definitely going to be late.  Oh well that’s alright haha it doesn’t affect me much but I know Maggie is tired of being pregnant. ;-)

Had a busy weekend, lots of places to go to on Saturday and on Sunday Maggie and I took her mom to African Lion Safari and it was fun.  Took a bunch of pictures, yeah I took a picture of the traffic jam going into the park and then of a car that broke down in the drive through section.  Heh good thing the dude was in the ostrich section and not the deadly cats.

Anyway yeah if there’s news I will post it. :)

I think Brandon will be here soon…

July 30th, 2010

Hehe well yeah Maggie is due on Monday and if things go to plan he’ll be here sometime this weekend. :)  If he decides to stay inside, well he can get a maximum of one more week so it’ll be soon!  Maggie is having stomach pains now, I’m not sure if they’re contractions but lol I guess things are starting to get exciting.

Difficult game!

July 12th, 2010

Patrick and the team hosted an unusual airsoft game on Saturday night and man it was a bit of a disaster.  There were three elements in this game, an army, a mercenary group and a civilian population.  The issues began even before the game started, when the game was posted months ago we indicated that the civilians should well dress like civilians, not to come in full kit and that there would be periods where they are not actively fighting and would have no weapons. I guess people do not read so well these days and there were many “civilian” came wearing some sort of camo along with a full military loadout.

Seems like much of the Southern Ontario airsoft community is willing or ready to go to a themed airsoft game, the first half did not run much better as civilians were blatantly disregarding the rules.  Yes it was chaotic and confusing from the get go, it was set up that way because a civilian population under occupation would not be as organized as say the military.  What was suppose to happen was there would be a small group of insurgents which would stir up crap and get either the PMCs or JOTF (military) to shoot unarmed civilians and then the uprising could start.  It never got off as there was a group of civilian players who couldn’t wait, walk around in full kit and openly skirmished with the other forces.  Anyway that totally screwed up the game dynamics and for the next few hours, game control was trying to sort things out.

After a unscheduled break, the game restarted and things went a lot more smoothly.   Anyway yeah it’s not a typical airsoft game and those who were causing problems left and they definitely did not want to play a mil sim, they were looking for a skirmish.  Good riddance! Anyway the second half of the game went much more smoothly and I think we got a lot of decent game time in.  Here are a few pics, man you gotta give Eddy credit for the awesome signs. ;-)

Even though I brought the PTW to the field, I ran the entire night with my TM Glock 17 in a covert civilian loadout. :-)

Sunday was less eventful, I was pretty damn tired from the night game so Maggie and I stayed at home and cleaned up a few things.  Watched the World Cup and it was a decent game, got to give Paul the octopus credit for calling it and being perfect!  Later the fridge Maggie and I bought last week was delivered and I’m glad to have it.  Our old (and it was really ancient) fridge was junk and needed to be replaced but only had resources to do it recently (after doing all types of things to the house).

We got the Samsung RB194, the reviews were mostly positive and I’ve always liked their products. :)  Hopefully it works out well for us.

Productive weekend

June 21st, 2010

It was a productive weekend for Maggie and I.  On Saturday we went to a prenatal class and was taught how to take care of the baby after he arrives. It was definitely informative but damn it was long and ate up much of the day (at least from 9-4).  Later we went to my folks place for a small fathers day celebration, lol it’s hard to pick something up for my dad so we ended up getting him some lottery tickets. :)  Megan was also there but unfortunately Estelle had to work… We watched a couple of movies and had panzerottos (mine was very messy) and it was fun.

Initially I had an airsoft game planned for Saturday night but had to bail because there are a lot of things to take care of for the baby and time is starting to run short.  On Sunday Maggie and I put together the crib, changing table and a small chest set and I have to say I rather enjoyed it.

We still need to arrange the furniture but at least it’s built. I also put the wheels onto the stroller and damn that thing is cool!  It folds so easily, with a pull of one strap and it you’re done!  Anyway yeah I’d have to say we had a good weekend. :D

The luckiest guy

June 16th, 2010

is me. :) You know I’ve been thinking about how things in my life has gone and overall I think i have to say I’m pretty damn lucky. I own my own home, married to a wonderful girl, have a career that I enjoy and soon Maggie and I will welcome our son to the world.

Yeah things have gone very well for me and I thank my lucky stars every day.

Lots of food and plants…

May 16th, 2010

Well I certainly had a busy weekend. On Saturday, Maggie and I had dim sum with Jessie and Jason (I wanted to borrow his GPS unit when we go to Buffalo next weekend) and man Jessie’s stomach is really big! Well she is like 8 weeks ahead of Maggie and since they’re having a boy too, it’s like a preview of what Maggie will go through. I wonder if Maggie’s belly button will become an outtie too…

Saturday night, we were invited to Mike and Ange’s in The Beaches for dinner and they have a nice home. :) It’s very cosy and I like what they’ve done with it. The star of the show (other than Ange’s cooking which was superb) was their two year old daughter Emily. Heh she was very well behaved and very cute.

On Sunday I went with my dad to Sheridan nursery to return a plant which died and there he gave me an education session on the various plants and trees that we saw. Now that I’m older I find that I appreciate these things more, though not enough to get me into gardening myself. ;-)  Later we went to another nursery on Steeles near Bayview and man did they have some expensive trees…  Heh maybe if I win the lottery I’ll buy one of those red weeping trees for $15k. ;-)

I have to say I was rather surprised how much I enjoyed looking at plants with my dad because if I were younger, I’d probably consider it death lol.  I think the next time my dad goes I’ll tag along and maybe pick up something for my house too.

Piece of junk!

April 25th, 2010

I wanted to fix a few things around the house so last week I picked up a caulking gun from Canadian Tire.  Today as I was preparing to seal a faucet after the first pump the handle broke.  I hastily went to Canadian Tire to return the piece and picked up another one (different model this time) and it also broke after the first pump too!  God, what a piece of junk, I guess I’ll go to Home Depot tomorrow and try and pick up something better.

Other than that the weekend has gone well, on Saturday Maggie and I went to Baby’s R Us and started a gift registry…  She plans on having a baby shower sometime maybe in mid May.  Prepping my stuff for next week’s game, yeah I know a week away but lol I’m always antsy when it comes to games. ;-)
