Woo some goodies…

Today Maggie, Brandon and I went out for dim sum with Will & Michelle and it was fun! We haven’t seen them in a while but we talked about kids, their new condo and about the wedding last year that we couldn’t attend unfortunately… The food was good but Brandon was pretty fussy and cut lunch short. I’m always surprised how quickly he can “recharge”, he slept for about 5 minutes before we got home and didn’t need to sleep again in the afternoon!

Earlier I also picked up a hockey bag to lug my airsoft gear around, my old Pantac gear bag has a large tear on its side and is no longer usable so I figure I would replace it with something else. The hockey bag works, it’s large enough to carry my gear (even my plate carriers) and doesn’t look like anything suspicious, which is helpful when you have nosy neighbors haha.

Time will tell if this was a good $50 investment…

Jason came by in the late afternoon, he got me to look at his M16 PTW because last time out it was chopping too… I couldn’t take apart his inner barrel for some reason so instead I just gave him one of mine and afterwards it fired ok for me. Hehe he was also kind enough to drop off my new “tactical iPad case” and I have to say it’s pretty darn cool!

Fits pretty well but it’s also a bit bulky… Still I absolutely hate the stock Apple case so I think I’ll use this thing more and see how it goes.

Henry also came by to pick up his CA CQBR, there was nothing wrong with the mechbox his jamming issue was due to a stuck hopup rubber. Busy day, I’m looking for a much quieter time tomorrow, Maggie has to go into the office so it’ll just be me and the boy.

Kind of sore

Earlier in the week I ordered one of TorontoAirsoft.com’s Cansoft (translucent receiver) CA MP5Ks and it came on Friday. Initially I wanted to use it for parts and fix up my metal MP5K but while I was trying to “fix it” I ended up breaking the body. πŸ™ Now I don’t know what I’m going to do… I guess I’ll try to repair it and we’ll see how successful I am. The Cansoft CA MP5K is the Sportline model and it’s actually very nice, the body is dark tinted and with a a black gearbox & cylinder you barely notice the receiver is clear.

Yesterday the guys and I went to Flag Raiders to play our first outdoor game of the year and it was fun. The temperature was decent just above freezing but it was very wet over the last week and the field was quite slippery and muddy. The tan team had more experienced players and to make up for it Zeon gave us lousy terrain, lol it wasn’t fun to go through that stuff but I understand why he did it… The best part for me in the whole game was when I stormed the church, I had used up all the ammo for my PTW and had to rely on my TM 1911 springer! Got 3 kills with it while I was waiting for reinforcements so that wasn’t too bad. πŸ™‚ At lunch I got to try out some of wildcard’s cooking and it was very good, I especially enjoyed the steak sandwich.

Derek is not part of the team but he’s our BB Bastard sponsor so we were glad to have him in the picture. πŸ™‚

After lunch, we couldn’t find Zeon (though later I found out he was dealing with some personal/family issues which occurred last week) so I took over hosting duties. The gusting wind was a real killer and while we started the day with probably about 50 people, we were down to 20ish in the early afternoon. All in all we had a good time and I know Jason and I enjoyed grilling Mario on the way there and back from the field. πŸ˜‰

Mario declined to join Jason’s family and mine for dinner and we went to Asian Legend. Despite being packed we were able to get a table in a timely manner which was nice and during dinner we told the ladies a bit about our heroics haha.

Today I didn’t do much… I’m sore from the game so I decided to keep a low profile. Brandon is a bit fussy but oh well what can you do with a baby right. Hopefully he goes down easy tonight and Maggie and I can enjoy our evening.

Work tomorrow woo…

Lots of action!

I like relaxing weekends. πŸ™‚

Didn’t do too much on Saturday during the day, Maggie was out so it was just Brandon and I. He was quite fussy the whole day but it wasn’t anything i couldn’t take care of thankfully… In the early evening, my mom came by to look after Brandon so Maggie and I could go see Act of Valor with Mario, Shawn and Wan yee (I think that’s her name, I don’t remember) at Yorkdale and it was alright. I read and heard a lot of people saying it’s just a propaganda film but to me it was just a typical action movie, just with real US Navy SEALs playing the main roles instead of actors. Typical outcome, the US are the good guys and the other people are the bad guys, lots of shooting & explosions and the good guys win. I think those in the propaganda camp are over analyzing things frankly…

I enjoyed the movie and it certainly made me want to play airsoft. πŸ˜‰ Surprisingly though after watching the movie, I did not feel the need to buy new gear! I guess perhaps I have most of the stuff already but ya they weren’t using anything super special so I guess that’s good news for my wallet haha.

Sunday morning was the typical routine, we went to T&T to buy some groceries and hit up Congee Wong for lunch. I was a bit disappointed in the won ton noodles I ordered, there were a lot of shrimp shells still on the shrimp and it made eating the won tons a pain in the ass.

He’s such an angel when he’s asleep lol!

Later I tweaked some guns, first I worked on Henry’s new Echo 1 M249 MK2, it’s just a rebadged A&K and giving the gun a once over it looked better than my A&K M249 Para. Compression was good though I did swap the spring and hopup rubber and now the thing is shooting a solid 380 fps. I also worked on my Systema M4A1 PTW, the new upper I purchased late last year was causing my gun to chop BBs so I tore it apart and rebuilt the upper receiver. Seems to have done the trick and now the gun is firing nicely though I don’t have much of an opportunity to test it other than shooting in my basement. I’ll get a better idea next week when I go play at Flag Raiders…

Tonight hopefully Brandon sleeps early and well so Maggie and I can enjoy the rest of the night.

Snow?!?

Heh and here I thought old man winter had forgotten about us… Well if you live in the Toronto area you’re probably digging out from the snowfall over the last two days (not me though, lol that’s done for me :D) and I have to say, again I have to say I’m glad I have snow tires on my car. πŸ˜€

The weekend was alright I guess, didn’t do anything on Friday other than relax at home and reconfigure my 6094a vest. Even though it’s smaller than my CIRAS it actually holds more than I had on the larger vest, all without feeling bulky when I wear it too! Saturday I went to aunt Dora’s office to top up my RRSPs, woo that’s always fun. Afterwards I went to Stephen’s house, sigh for some reason he’s always selling his airsoft stuff so I picked up a Magpul PTS Masada ACR & 4 additional tan PMags. It’s a solid rifle with no wiggle room or play anywhere and I think I’ll use it as the backup to my primary. I have to say, I do feel bad when I think about it, it’s like I’m taking advantage of him. πŸ™

Maggie wasn’t pleased but I told her I’ll sell the CA M15A4 RIS Sportline rifle, it was my primary loaner the last year but it’s just too fragile since the body is plastic. I’m always worrying about that thing snapping in half. I have a CYMA AKM that I can lend out and I think I’ll also move the CA MP5A5 to the loaner role. I doubt I’ll ever use it but it’s a solid little gun and easy to use.

Today we didn’t do too much… In the morning we went to T&T to buy some groceries and I think the only time I can stand that store is early in the morning when no one else is there. Brandon didn’t sleep in the afternoon so we’ll see how he is tonight, someone is suppose to come by later to take a look at the Sportline so hopefully it’ll be gone by the time I wake up tomorrow.

Rhino 2012 Date Set

So looks like Operation Rhino 2012 will be on the July 21st weekend and I absolutely can’t wait! πŸ˜€ I’ll definitely be in for doing the helicopter again and perhaps I’ll lead another squad. Not much details on the game yet, Chris just got back from Shot Show so I’ll bug him about it after he settles down.

Oh I noticed that the PRZ guys posted their own video of the 2011 game.

I’m in the video quite a bit but it’s difficult to tell who I am because of all the stuff I’m wearing. Man I absolutely can’t wait for that game. πŸ˜€

Aww

So I recently bought two new lamps (P61 & MN11) for my Surefire M951 & M961 weaponlights but neither work with my rechargeable CR123 batteries. πŸ™ They work ok with standard CR123s but just won’t run with the rechargeable which is very disappointing. Stephen sent me a link to this store which sells Surefire CR123 batteries, the price is very good and I guess I have no choice. I wonder if I can find other rechargeables that will work, I just hate using disposable batteries.

On another note my RIS mounted M203 launcher finally came after ~4 weeks of waiting.

Sigh it’s alright I guess but I really would have preferred the barrel mounted version as there are no RIS mounted M203s in real life. Still the thing only cost me $100 so I guess I can’t complain, I’ll just sell it later and get a barrel mounted version when it’s available.

Getting better

Brandon still has a bad cough but it’s definitely getting better, or at least I think so. Hopefully he’ll be back up to 100% early next week and Maggie and I (more Maggie) can catch up on our sleep. Last week my Surefire FM13 IR lens cap finally came in for my Surefire M961XM07 weaponlight, now all I’m waiting for is the more powerful MN11 bulb and my M4 PTW will be NV ready too. Interestingly enough though, during limited testing in my basement (which I know isn’t very scientific) my Surefire M951XM07 (60 lumens) + FM63 IR lens cap illuminates the darkness better for my PVS-14 than the more powerful Surefire M961XM07 (125 lumens) + FM13. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when I get the more powerful lamps for both lights in (hoping this week).

Last night I also rigged up a new mouth protector out of an old paintball mask and some paracord, it doesn’t protect as much of my face as the mesh mask but it protects my teeth and allows me to sight down my weapons much easier.

I signed up for an outdoor game on March 3rd, I guess that’ll be when I test my new contraption. I’m really jonsing for a game right now, there have been a few games at TTAC3 I wanted to go to that were snuffed out due to unforeseen incidents. πŸ™

Enjoying my favorite hobby

Friday night I went to TTAC3 for the team Christmas dinner and it was great. I really enjoyed seeing everyone and the food was definitely awesome, many thanks to Brian for allowing us to have a good time there. I wish I could have brought Maggie & Brandon but the dinner was late and she thought it’d be best if they stay at home. Heh I even had a small drink with Brian and it must have been the first time I’ve had alcohol in at least 5 years. I agree with Odessa, we should do gatherings more often because they’re always so much fun!

On Saturday Mario, Stephen, Eddy & I went to Flag Raiders to play what I’m sure was our last outdoor game of the year and it was fun! Much of the day Zeon was playing the role of terminator (as it was his birthday) and I definitely blasted him a lot. πŸ˜‰ The weather was ok, it was a bit cold but clear and sunny for most of the game. There was a light layer of snow which made the ground a bit treacherous and I twisted my ankle running up a hill as I didn’t notice the gopher hole (flat feet and rigid ankles are a bad combination).

I’m happy to report that my CQBR upper works just fine with my Systema SCK lower though I didn’t get much hop on the BBs for some reason. I’ll have to try it out when it’s warmer as it’s possible the nub was too hard from the cold to apply much backspin. My M4 PTW also had the same problem initially but as it was used more and more the hop up nub seemed to “break in”.

Me and the rest of the human contingent taking on the “Terminator” at least till I get shot in the back… Yeah my reloads were slow, my body wasn’t cold but the weather definitely affected my hands.

And from the Terminator’s point of view. LOL at the end of the video I’ll be frank, I did not know if the Zeon was in play or not which is why I didn’t shoot at him…

On Sunday the family went out for some Pho and it was fun. Hehe I wanted to give him a lime again but Maggie objected unfortunately. We then went to Center Point mall to pick up a few odds and ends for the house. While Brandon was asleep, I played a bit with my M249 and put a new stock on it… Now all I’m missing is the proper barrel and it’ll be as close to the MK.46 as I can get. I also reconfigured my 6094a vest and it’s ready for CQB play (I think)…

It was a fun and productive weekend, I enjoy my job but am sad to see the weekend go.

What a crappy day

Man yesterday was so busy I didn’t even have time to complain. I guess I still have the cushy job frame of mind but yeah I absolutely hate it when stuff comes in last minute before I leave. To make matters worse on the way home, the train I was on lost power between Wilson & Downsview stations for about 20 minutes. Nothing is more frustrating than sitting on a half lit train with no updates… Well I guess at least I had a celluar signal so I could surf the internet in the dark.

Brandon was good when I came home, he’s always able to buoy my spirits no matter how lousy I feel. He’s so much fun to play with and I feel fortunate to have such a wonderful son. I love you buddy!

The CA P90 RDS I bought last week also arrived which was nice. It’s not something I planned to get as I’m not a fan of the P90 frankly but I’m turning into a collector and it’s something Maggie would use if I am able to convince her to come out to play again. I didn’t get to play with it much last night and I don’t think I’ll be able to play with it tonight either. Ahh well I’ll give it a good once over on the weekend then decide on what I want to upgrade. πŸ˜‰

Buzz cut for the men

So today Maggie and I went to the Oriental center (god what a stupid name) for lunch as I wanted to pick up a few odds and ends from Huang to do some maintenance on my airsoft guns. Brandon was pretty good though he was spooked by some of the other men at the store who were speaking loud and kept asking me to leave. LOL Maggie was pleased to hear that when we met up with her a few minutes later… While I did get what I was looking for I’m not sure I’ll be going back. Every time I do, I’m disappointed at the quality of the parts yeah they’re cheap and in stock but what’s the point if I have to buy the same part 3 or 4 times…

Anyway afterwards we decided to get Brandon a haircut and that certainly was a fun adventure for Maggie and I. Brandon was scared the whole time and it was really sad to see him cry but funny at the same time to see his reaction. πŸ˜‰

The first picture was on the way, he was very tired… Later I found out why he was crying so hard as the barber was pretty rough at least when he gave me a shave.

When we got home I worked a bit on Jason’s PTW but it looks like I’ll need to order some parts to get it up and running. I also looked my original PTW (SCK), while it’s served me well over the years I noticed that the trigger is just a tad slower than my factory PTW and it’s always bothered me. After resoldering the motor wires I’m happy to report that the SCK trigger response is now the same as the factory PTW. πŸ™‚ Now if I could just get my CQBR upper to stop chopping BBs…
