Busy weekend!

Well I certainly had a busy weekend! On Saturday Jorai and I went to an airsoft game at Flag Raiders and it was a fun one to end the outdoor season. Stephen, Mario, Jason, Cameron & Eddy from the team also joined us though Mario was wearing his Russian camo so he was stuck on the other team the whole game. I purposely tried looking for him to kill but was only able to do it once unfortunately. Because it was my birthday last Thursday, Zeon let me play terminator and that was fun. I knew I’d be playing that role going into the game so I packed some extra gear and brought the M249 with me (I would need the extra firepower). I took some video but it looks like the video from the second terminator game got corrupted. πŸ™ I’ll see if I can fix it later on but for the time being here is the video from the first game.

Too bad the M249 was not feeding 100%, otherwise I would have kicked a lot of ass. πŸ˜‰

My Systema CQBR PTW was giving me problems all game as it kept chopping BBs on full auto. Not really sure what the issue is but it was the gun using the new upper and I think there may be a fitment problem, too bad it’s going to be a tough one to diagnose. Doesn’t seem to happen on semi thankfully.

Overall the game was fun, the green team camped a bit too much for my liking but that’s how it goes sometimes.

Sunday I went to my folks place for a small family birthday party and lol Brandon was the star of the show. It’s alright, I like it when people shower him with attention and love. πŸ™‚ Many thanks to my sister Megan for picking me up a copy of Assassin’s Creed Revelations as it’s certainly a game I wanted to play.

Later Jorai came over and I helped him build his new computer, it’s almost identical to mine (i7 2600k, GeForce 580 GTX, etc) but he bought 16GB of memory and a SSD HDD. Funny he picked up the mid tower version of my Cooler Master case, what are the odds huh…

I spent the rest of the afternoon/evening playing Assassin’s Creed but decided to stop because I was in between missions and Maggie wanted to watch TV. Sigh too bad the weekend is over already!

Nice long weekend…

So as I mentioned earlier, I had a nice long weekend and man was it action packed. πŸ™‚ On Friday I bought some computer components and totally overhauled my computer, about time too as my rig was easily 4 years old already. I picked up an Intel i7 2600k along with 8GB of DDR3 memory, a Gigabyte P67 motherboard, Seasonic X760W PSU and topped it off with a Zotac GeForce 580. I know Intel will be refreshing its CPU line up shortly but I’m no longer an enthusiast and didn’t want to wait. I reused my hard drives, I wanted to go SSD but had a hard time justifying the price considering I purchased a 300GB WD Raptor early last year.

After installing Windows 7, I immediately installed Battlefield 3 and that’s when the fun happened. πŸ™‚ I wrapped up the single player campaign on Friday (fun but short) and played a bit of mulitplayer. My new machine doesn’t “feel” much faster than my old computer when I do my office work but my god it’s many times faster when playing games, that’s for sure! Nice that I’ll be ready for the new generation of games, at least for a little while…

Saturday afternoon Stephen, Mario and I went to Chris & Jim’s Werewolf themed game and it was fun. I was not officially tasked with a command position in the game thread but on the field, as usual I was asked to lead. Things started off slowly but the night progressed nicely. On the second and third restarts (after all the humans were dead), I got a lot of action and man I have to say I absolutely love my PVS-14!!! πŸ˜€ It’s seriously not fair but whatever that’s not my problem right? Despite having a technological advantage, it was still quite difficult as the majority of the play was in tight quarters indoors. Still I was able to stealthy move around for most of the game, even when I was stalking the other human faction. πŸ˜‰

At around 2AM Mario, Stephen, Brian & I were on a mission (all of us had NV, we could see everything! :)) and as I was walking through the rear of the second building, I happened to walk right off the loading dock (about 50cm off the ground) as I was scanning for targets outdoors and didn’t really watch where I was going. As I fell though I twisted my body so I landed on my back and thus saving my PTW and PVS-14 from potential damage. I hurt my right ankle a bit (it’s a bit swollen today), my right knee (sore but ok) and my right elbow (very tender, didn’t have elbow pads and I hit the ground with some force…) but so be it, that’s the price one has to pay if they want to play right.

On the way back I felt pretty good but after consuming 10 chocolate timbits (I was hungry) I began to get really tired, so tired I had to pull off and let Stephen drive. Luckily he was completely alert and didn’t mind taking over.

Today I didn’t do much, I played with Brandon, took a nap in the afternoon and played with my computer a bit more. All in all an excellent weekend and I’m so excited to start my new job tomorrow! I won’t have any trouble going to sleep tonight, I’m still pretty wasted from the night game.

Brandon getting it on haha!

So here’s a funny story about Brandon, when I got back from my airsoft game Maggie told me my mom and her witnessed Brandon kissing a picture of a cosmetic model in one of her magazines so I put the picture in front of him and low and behold he bent over and kissed the picture of the woman on the lips! Haha it’s the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen, I haven’t been able to get it on video but you can bet I’ll be trying for the next little while. πŸ˜‰

Yesterday’s airsoft game at Flag Raiders went pretty well. Maggie told me a couple of days prior that she couldn’t make it which kind of sucks but at least Jorai & Jashen had a good time. πŸ™‚ There were 50 odd players and as the host I did not get to play myself but it was still fun to watch and organize things. Kyle set up a booth for his store (CDNAirsoftStore.com) in the safe zone and with all the newbs, I’m sure he’ll get a lot of customers. LOL I have to admit I was weak and picked up a new CA M15A4 CQB X-Series AEG, why I don’t know because I’m a sucker haha. I’ll use the new rifle as my primary loaner as it’s full metal and much nicer than the Sportline I’ve been giving out. His prices are very competitive and I wish the guy luck with his endeavors!

A picture Brent snapped of me, it was nice to see him and his gf out at my game. πŸ™‚ If there are any pictures of Jorai or Jashen I will post them up later.

Today I am not doing much, I fixed a friend’s AEG and swapped out the spring on the CA CQBR so it’s shooting a nice 380 fps now. πŸ™‚ I went for a walk with Brandon and now we’re just all being lazy at home. I love lazy Sundays, too bad I have to go back to work tomorrow ahh well.

No glasses yet…

Man what a busy weekend, where to begin… On Friday I picked up an ARES CTAR-21 rifle from Mike, we earlier agreed to trade guns my G&G UMP for his Tavor (Maggie didn’t like the UMP after all, says the stock is too long) but there was a catch, the gun was in many pieces… When I finally opened the box up, a little puzzle greeted me but I knew it was something I could handle and all in all, it took me about an hour to put back together. The gun shoots nicely, well as nicely as I can test in my basement and chronies at a consistent 360 fps w/0.2g BBs.

If I decide to keep it, I may get the proper MARS sight for the gun but for now the simple RDS will have to do. πŸ™‚

On Saturday Maggie went to work her part time job with Elections Ontario (a part time gig that pays her way more than what she makes at the bank) and it was pretty much me and Brandon. My mom came over in the morning to give me a hand which was very nice of her, after she left I put him to bed and he slept for a good 2 hours. Afterwards we played around the house and I took him for a walk around my townhouse complex and a bit later we went to my folks place.

My dad was having computer issues and seeing as how I was bored at home, I figure it was time for grandpa to spend some time with Brandon. πŸ˜‰ My mom was busy playing mah jong. Brandon loves my parents place and he particularly enjoys terrorizing Simba. Chasing him up and down the stairs, around the floor and even into Simba’s special spots lol! Afterwards I went to pick up Maggie and the rest of the night was uneventful.

Today Jason, Jessie & Logan came over for a baby play date and that was fun. The kids don’t seem to get along too well but meh they’re young and I’m sure they’ll warm up to each other as they grow older. We also exchanged some baby toys as it’s cheaper than buying new toys. πŸ™‚ After they left Maggie, Brandon and I dropped by the Promenade mall so I could get a new pair of glasses but to my horror, none of the stores were able to supply me with a new pair during that visit. I think the problem is due to my astigmatism so being frustrated I decided to just commit with the local Lenscrafters as I didn’t want to go searching but it’s a pretty big pain in the ass as now I have to wait up to 5 days grr.

Later Henry dropped by to return my Systema CQBR PTW MAX I lent him a few weeks ago as he was going to games I couldn’t attend and his WETTI was down. We chatted a bit and the games that he played sounded awesome, I wish I could have went. To my frustration after he left, I noticed that the PTW upper reviver was badly cracked! Judging by the damage, I’m guessing that he fell on the gun but sigh the damage is done…

πŸ™ I’m sure it was an accident and Henry said he’ll cover the costs but seeing as how he’s going in for a surgical procedure tomorrow I told him not to worry about it for now and that we’ll talk about it next week. Frustrating but it happens… I haven’t told Maggie yet and I’m don’t think I’ll mention it. If she reads it here so be it but she usually doesn’t so we’ll see.

Busy weekend, too bad the work week starts tomorrow.

Thanks Marky!

Today I went to Mark’s place to pick up a 6mm Marushin Mossberg M500 gas shotgun that he was selling and it’s something that I’ve been trying to acquire for quite some time now. He’s slimming down his collection to help finance his new hobby (restoring old motorcycles, does a good job too) so it’s win win all around. πŸ˜€ LOL he certainly did me a favor to sell me the gun at the price he did, and I also picked up a folding stock.

Sexy eh? God so can’t wait to try this thing out at a game and next weekend at CQB paintball will be a good opportunity. πŸ™‚

Woo new low profile loadout!

Yesterday I picked up a tan TMC 6094a molle vest and a couple of TMC M4 double M4 shingles. I’m not familiar with the brand but it was inexpensive and from what I’ve read online the quality was alright so I figure I’d take a shot as I wanted to use a LBT 6094a (repro or real, this was cheap so I figure why not) style vest to build a light weight low profile molle vest which I could use for field or CQB use. Outdoors I usually run an old school Phantom CIRAS (or HSGI Wasatch, LBT 1961) but frankly that thing is a bit to big to use easily indoors and I was never really comfortable with my other indoor rigs which usually just consist of a belt setup.

Yeah I know the vest is sitting a bit low, put it on quickly to take a picture

My 6094a rig will be minimalistic with just 4 mags, 2 grenades and radio. Let’s see if my long search for a low profile rig are over, I certainly like the feel of this one (even with plates in them) but we’ll see finally when it comes game time. πŸ™‚

OP: Rhino July 16-17 Mil sim

So over the weekend the guys, Jorai, Mike and I played Chris’ Operation Rhino mil sim held at the Craig Complex in Picton Ontario. There were three teams Insurgents, Russian & US forces and I was part of the Airborne group on the US side. The game started at ~10AM however the US team was not allowed in till about 1PM so it was just the insurgents and Russians slugging it out for a few hours. US Airborne was inserted by helicopter to recce the situation and well we got slaughtered as both teams were thoroughly entrenched in defensive positions. During our next and subsequent insertions we chose rooftop landings because well it’s cool. πŸ˜‰ To be honest we were not very combat effective and I kept getting my squad killed so we could reinsert over and over again, I’m simply at a loss for words how much fun it was to ride in a helicopter with my full airsoft kit on.

After the helicopter left at around 7:30PM we were integrated into the US ground forces and then the mil simmer in me came out. I particularly enjoyed screwing around with the Russians, at 10PM Temir, Oleg and Alister came to our camp to see what was going on because we were suppose to launch a coordinated attack on the insurgent team but instead we took them into custody. My orders were then to go into the Russian controlled building and wreak havoc and that’s exactly what was done. πŸ˜‰ I bluffed my team’s way into their strong hold by faking radio transmissions from command telling me to go into their building and onto the upper floors. By the time the Russian players found out, we were on the 3rd floor and for some reason instead of taking us out in the hallways, they stuck us in an easily defensible position.

We held the Russian forces off for about an hour and a half, during that time when the fighting died down I told my enemies about Brandon and actually sang them the ABCs (Brandon likes it so I figured I’d sing it for them too haha). The third floor has almost no light but with my PVS-14 seeing was not a problem, lol I particularly enjoyed shooting the Russians as they tried to sneak around in the hall. I also killed Temir twice, both times I let him know who did it too. πŸ˜€ Anyway with my team whittled down from ~12 shooters to 3, they stormed the position with about 15 players and finished us off. That’s alright though, my mission was to give them a hard time and I did.

Airborne took part in the snatch and grab of a HVT and Jeremy played the part of an uncooperative hostile well. In fact he gave us so much resistance that I told the guys we’ll have to carry him to our CP so two guys grabbed his arms, I grabbed his left leg and someone grabbed his right and we ran him the last 100 or so meters, god damn that was really difficult!

After that I told Airborne to stand down and get some rest, Jorai and I went back to the car to sleep as there were just too many damn mosquitoes… When we restarted after the pause (there was an injury on the field), our job was to take and hold the middle building keeping the insurgent and Russian teams apart. By that time the mission came down though we were down to approximately 15-20 players and in the last hour I was told that my team had no more respawns. Ahh well that’s how it goes but all things considered I was surprised with how long we held out.

Here are a few pictures from the game that people posted up, I didn’t have time to take any as I was busy playing. πŸ˜‰

Got to love how the new team patch stands out. πŸ˜‰ The last two pictures were action shots, geez I didn’t even notice the camera man I wonder where he was hiding… And here’s some footage from my helmet camera.

Yeah the helicopter was absolutely awesome, I’m going to do it again next year for sure! Jorai kept up very well for his first real mil sim, I’m surprised he played so well. Sigh my last big game of the year but that’s ok, I played a lot of airsoft and am looking forward to spending some time with the family. πŸ™‚

Good weekend so far

Are you enjoying your Canada day weekend?

I’ve certainly had a busy weekend so far, on Friday in the morning I went to help Jenny move and man for a single girl she has a lot of stuff. It wasn’t too bad though, her bro Jamie and I moved most of the big stuff and Ali well she acted as the foreman. πŸ˜‰ Later in the evening I hosted an airsoft dusk/night training session and it went pretty well. I might not have any formal training but I have played a ton of night games and I know what works and what doesn’t in airsoft anyway…

LOL I bet it was Oleg who started putting stuff on my vest… Anyway we started off slowly, I had the various groups move through a map with a lot of diverse objects to see how take the area and communicate with each other and boy it was horrible haha. I kept trying to drill in the fact that an area is not clear until you’ve actually been there to see (so many times they’d assume a place is clear yet there was a person hiding there) and to communicate or yell (we weren’t using comms, too complicated) at each other so everyone knows where the contact (hostile or non combatant) is.

By the time the darkness came the various units were working pretty well together though the fact that it’s dark presents a new challenge. Light discipline was excellent which was nice as most airsofters have no idea how to use flashlights and once we drilled in challenge codes there was very little blue on blue friendly fire. The only downside to the training session was, most of the attendees are on the Russian team for Op: Rhino later in the month so I’ll be going up against them very soon. Oh well that’s how it goes right and if I can help raise the level of play then it’ll be worth it.

Saturday I didn’t do too much, cleaned the house a bit and lounged around which was nice. Today is much of the same, there are a few things that I still need to take care of around the house and I have to reinstall the car seat but other than that the plate is pretty clear. Some bad news though, Maggie’s flight has been delayed and will now arrive around 11:55PM instead of 6:45PM… It sucks but they’ll be home soon and that’s all that matters. πŸ™‚

Ops-Core FAST Base Jump

Well Maggie’s parents computer is not working properly in China so I haven’t received pictures in a few days… In any case today I did receive my Ops-Core FAST Base Jump helmet and I have to say, it’s pretty damn swanky! I love the support at the back of the neck and I’m sure it’ll make using the PVS-14 much more comfortable compared to my Protec helmet. πŸ™‚

That’s it, I ain’t buying any more airsoft stuff the rest of the year well minus any up keep expenses. I can’t wait to try it out at tomorrow night’s training session.
