Busy day!

Yesterday I held a newbie skirmish game at FlagRaiders and it was alright. The weather and crowd was good though we were stuck with a ref who to be frank was a bit of an asshole. In all the years of gaming, I have never seen or had to deal with someone who gave airsofters such a hard time. Rallying 60+ players to move onto the field at the same time is near impossible and the ref would only let us go when the majority of players were ready. That part was frustrating but overall the game play was good, though I did have to keep the games very simple, anything I tried that was relatively complicated was a total failure. It’s alright live and learn right, next time around I’m definitely going to put a player cap in place so things do not get out of hand.

I brought Jorai and his friend Chris to play and they both had fun. πŸ™‚ Jorai has some bad luck, every AEG he starts the day with breaks and this time it was the CA Sportline. I don’t know what happened to the gun but sigh I’ll have to tear it apart sooner than I would have wanted. Haha I’m going to spoil him, every time he has a gun failure, I lend him my PTW. The CYMA AKS-74U performed flawlessly though for Chris and I’m actually quite impressed with how consistent the gun is, not bad for a cheap gun.

I was happy that Jason and Mike were able to come out, those guys don’t get to play enough unfortunately.

When I got home I took a shower, cleaned up and took the family out to celebrate Maggie’s mom’s 60th birthday (I arranged the airsoft game before I knew it was her bday :(). It was a small affair with just my parents, Imran, Estelle & Megan attending and even though it was her birthday lol as usual Brandon was the star of the show. Hehe it was funny to watch Brandon burst into tears when my dad looked at him, we all got a good laugh. After a little while Brandon got comfortable and put on a cute show for everyone as usual.

Man we’re so lucky, Brandon is always good when we go out so everyone thinks we have the perfect baby haha. πŸ™‚

Mmm more NV goodness!

On Saturday I met up with Chris and grabbed up his AN/PVS-14 weapon mount and I have to say, with the NVD on the PTW it looks pretty damn sexy! πŸ˜‰

Oh this should be obvious but definitely do not use repro optics with night vision devices (yeah I’m an idiot)! I tried just for fun at the lowest setting and it left a temporary spot in the image right in the center and lasted for about half an hour! That was pretty scary considering how much the damn thing cost but I’m glad there’s no permanent damage. Yeah I can use the EOTech 551 but it doesn’t look good on a CQBR style weapon and now I guess I’m in the market for a real Aimpoint M2 lol.

AN/PVS-14 HAS LANDED!

Heh well I sold my old set of gen 3 NVGs to Mario so I could get myself an AN/PVS-14 night vision scope. πŸ™‚ This device is a monocular and it can be attached to my helmet or my weapon! It’s generation 3 and mil spec, comforting because if it is designed for military use I know it’ll handle anything i can throw at it. The last picture is of my gear in the darkness.

Oh god with Chris, Brayden, Henry, Mario and I equipped with generation 3 night vision, the GHOSTS will totally rule the night! LOL Maggie was saying, how come it’s her birthday and I get a nice toy like this… πŸ˜‰

JOTF-SOG TFBG Training session

Yesterday I held a training session at thanh’s field for the TFBG and overall it went well. I’ve come to accept the fact that my group of players will not play as well as AFO or QRF simply for the fact that I have the largest group of players, whom do not have experience playing together as well as having the less experience overall. Still I was pleased with how the team progressed during the day.

Sigh too bad the field was so small, I was hoping the recce portion of the game would take at least 2 hours but it was really done in about 30 minutes so I had to start making up missions on the fly. Much of the rest of the day I tried to teach the TFBG guys to attack aggressively while watching for no shoot targets.

There’s still too much chatting during patrols and the guys bunch up way too close but we’re making progress. πŸ™‚ It’s going to be slow but I do believe that we will achieve all objectives that we are tasked with.

Mmm EOTech goodness!

So today I picked up a used EOTech 551 from Brian (another one) and boy is it sweet! πŸ™‚ I’m not sure what I’m going to put it on just yet as I prefer Aimpoints on the PTW but I’m thinking of maybe the M249, I think it would look good there.

Hehe gotta love the NV mode, just in time for… Um I’ll tell you later! πŸ˜€

Productive weekend!

Well I certainly had a productive weekend. πŸ˜€ As I mentioned to a few friends, eventually I want to turn my M249 Para into a MK46 mod 0 (well as close as I can get, can never remove a few things) and it’s going well. I removed the bipod and put in its place a fore grip and it’s definitely easier to wield now. Next piece to change is the barrel though I’m still debating if I should keep the sliding para stock as I like that look more.

Heh I think it looks awesome, I wonder if those replica Elcan sights are any good…

Saturday night the family and I went to an impromptu family gathering for my grand mother at my parents house. Apparently she’s having difficulty sleeping these days and nothing cheers her up like seeing and playing with her great grand son. πŸ™‚ To see her her smile and hear her laugh when she holding him just warms your heart…

Finally let’s see today I finally finished Assassin’s Creed 2, the game is definitely better than the first one though along the way I gave myself a really bad headache lol… I sometimes get motion sickness when I’m playing games but that’s nothing a nap can’t fix! πŸ˜€ Anyway I just started the third installment, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and it’s turning out to be a pretty good game too so I’m happy. πŸ™‚ Definitely a fun series, if you have a PS3 it’s definitely something you should check out!

Toronto Airsoft Convention 2011

Yesterday the team hosted a table at the Toronto Airsoft Convention 2011 (TAC11) at FACT and it was fun. I think this was the fourth or fifth time we’ve done this and every year I have a blast. Much of the team volunteered to help Brian run things and they did a great job. Myself I spent most of the day at our table talking to newbs about guns, gear and general airsoft tidbits, which I hope will help them with their airsoft careers. A bit later in the day a guy who hosts his own Youtube channel Wolf’s Den got this girl to interview me about airsoft and that was fun. LOL I don’t know why she was wearing what she was but whatever I won’t complain haha and best of all Maggie thinks it’s funny. πŸ™‚

Phil had also set up a booth serving food, what a great idea that was as there aren’t any places to eat close by. The newbs loved looking through Chris’ ACOG which was cowitnessed with his PVS-14 NVS as well as checking out my NVG setup. Brayden brought down his PVS-14 as well so we had three gen 3 mil spec night vision goggle/scopes on the table, man that is sweet! All the guns garnered a lot of attention but definitely the A&K M249 Para and A&K M60E4 were the stars of our table.

I didn’t buy too many things, I picked up my yearly supply of BBs, a used Pantac Paca vest in black and a really nice Condor soft shell jacket in coyote tan. Bernie also gave me a set of custom grips (with our new team logo etched into them) for my TM MEU and my god are they cool! πŸ˜€

All in all another great convention and I already look forward to next year’s event. If you live in the Southern Ontario region and are interested in airsoft, this is definitely something you have to attend!

Got my old TM 1911 back!

A couple of years ago, to fund another project I sold my TM 1911 which was upgraded with a full Guarder Army metal kit and pretty much since that day, I’ve been kicking myself. Well the other day I was able to buy it back, and $75 cheaper than what I sold it for! The gun itself looks exactly like the day I sold it and it has been pretty much sitting in a box the whole time. I’m certainly happy as getting a full metal kit in Canada these days is very difficult and finding the exact model I’m looking has been near impossible.

Hehe to the left is my FMU TM MEU, the new/old FMU TM 1911 and a plastic TM 1911. I guess I can sell the latter now since I do not need two, anyway Colin is happy… πŸ˜€

JOTF-SOG 1st Outdoor Training Session

In May, the team and I will be playing a large mil sim and today we had our first outdoor training session.Β  We practiced CQB at the Belleville Craig Complex Hospital, while the May game will be a field game practicing CQB builds team relationships and dynamic.Β  At first the Task Force Battle Group (the platoon under my command) struggled with clearing rooms, angles and aggression but as the day progressed, the guys started to gel and did quite well.Β  As the “point of the spear”, TFBG suffered the most casualties with the last mission but then again we had the most of the engagements.Β  I think between the various teams on my side (AFO, TFBG & QRF) we’ll need better comms, that was pretty obvious at the end when I asked AFO to sweep the rooms on the left.Β  They did not advance as quickly as my guys and we got cut down by Jason who was in a good position.

Still the day went well and even though I didn’t fire many shots I still had a good time. πŸ™‚

Heh in between missions we took a team picture. On March 26th I’ll be hosting a training session for the TFBG (though everyone is welcome) and we’ll practice section movement, radio comms & map reading/relaying coordinates.Β  Woo this will be something special for sure.Β  For the time being this post is private, after the game I’ll make all the posts public, don’t want op-for to read my thoughts. πŸ˜‰

Tuesday Feb 22nd 2011 Edit: Chris took some video with his iPhone and uploaded to Youtube.

Yeah the facility truly is awesome! πŸ˜€

Busy busy weekend

On Friday I took Jorai to play his first indoor airsoft game at TTAC3 and well I certainly had fun. πŸ™‚Β  I don’t think I got to shoot him that day but it’s alright it was great to play, I think before that the last time I played was at Brian’s FTF game back in November.

On Saturday we went to the Oriental Center at Sheppard and god knows where so I could pick up some airsoft parts to fix up the Masada while Maggie and her mom bought some other stuff.Β  Later in the day we went to my parents place to celebrate Chinese New Year with my dad’s family and that was fun too.Β  Heh as the newest addition to the family, Brandon is the star of the show and everyone wants to hold him or play with him.Β  Good thing the kid is not afraid of strangers and man I’m very fortunate that he’s so well behaved when we go out!

Maggie’s mom certainly had a lot of fun playing with my dad’s Xbox Kinnect. πŸ˜‰

Today we went to visit Cindy and her husband (whom I keep forgetting his name) to meet their son Leon who was born about 6 weeks ago.Β  LOL man I remember when Brandon was that small!

Too bad when we got there Leon was tired but that’s alright I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him in the future.
