Dual Opteron Goodness, kinda…

A couple of weeks ago, I bought two Opteron 240 processors on eBay for $65 ea which arrived on Wednesday. I picked up an Asus K8N-DL motherboard yesterday however I screwed up on the memory. Since each Opteron has its own memory controller built on die, four DIMM slots are required to be occupied (2 for each chip) however the memory I purchased (again on eBay ;)) turned out to be DDR2 instead of DDR memory… So much for a “computer expert” huh?

Luckily I was able to snatch a good deal on eBay for some real registered DDR memory which should be arriving next week. Here are a few pictures of my latest project, aside from the small hiccup, I’m very excited! 😀

Mr. Super G33k

Mr. Markus Templer, a co-worker of mine has got to be the biggest computer geek I know. 😉 I pronounce the computer geek stereotype of the overweight, pimply face kid (hey I match that discription…) dead!

Doesn’t that 2.0 GB OCZ Rally Flash drive around his neck make him look kewl? 😀 🙄

I got a couple of extra days off for the holiday weekend and I spent a lot of it on much needed R&R. 🙂

Went out with my cousin Douglas today to watch Wolf Creek and let me tell you, it’s pretty lousy. I wasn’t expecting an Oscar quality film but I have a hard time believing people are so stupid in reality. Oh yes Mr. Murderer is hunting me down so I’ll keep screaming… 🙄 The movie is not scary, at least I didn’t think it was and it’s something I would not recommend to friends.

Maggie and I also went on a 24 marathon and man that show is so awesome. 🙂 If you haven’t watched an episode, you’re really missing out! I must say though, I guess the producers really love SUVs and the big ones at that! Every vehicle used or shown is a large SUV, I guess for government agents it makes sense but man I wish a popular show like that would set a better example for people…

Anyway I’m outta here, I’m going to get in a bit of BF2 in before I go to bed. 😉

Xmas Dinner #2

Last night was Xmas dinner with my mom’s side of the family and you can bet I took a lot of pictures. 😉 It was nice to see Jorai and Jashen again, aunt Agnes (she’s always laughing) and uncle Raymond (as well as everyone else). It’s a shame we don’t hook up more often but I guess that’s the way things are… Anyway here is a small preview of the pictures I took last night, to check them all out make sure you look at this thread. 😉

Last night was a lot of fun, Maggie and I spent it at my parents place where the “Sun” family gathers every Dec 25th. I took a lot of pictures, watched one of my cousin’s get drunk on a few bottles of beer (hey he’s Chinese!) and ate some awesome food. Merry Christmas!

How are you celebrating Christmas? Well Maggie and I played ma jong with the room mates for about 4 hours and it was fun. Although I’m not familiar the rules it was quite enjoyable, especially watching Maggie be girly. In the afternoon we’ll be going to my parents place for the traditional Sun family Xmas party. That should be fun too, I just hope my ankle doesn’t hurt too much since it’s been bothering me the last couple of weeks. I’ll be sure to take a lot of pictures and will post a few on the main site as well as more in the forums. 🙂
