Man was it windy, anyway I dropped by Chris & Tom’s office to pick up a FCC Gen 2.5 PTW motor for my 2012 PTW and Brayden’s ACOG. 🙂
I’m happy I got the motor but this ACOG is freaking cool! It’s real so it has the illuminated chevron sight and man the optic is so clear! It was a great deal too, gotta love teammate sales… Anyway I’ll pass it to Bray on the weekend after I’m finished drooling on it, though I’ll admit it’s not as cool as his Elcan Spectre DR.
So on a not so cold night, a pipe in my garage burst which happened to flood a portion of my basement. My fault though, I forgot to shut off the water to the outside so yeah this one is all on me. The storage/furnace room had probably around 3mm of water on the concrete floor and soaked everything touching the ground.
Maggie and I took the day off work to clean up and short the crap out. At 9AM we went to Home Depot and picked up a RIDGID 45L Wet/Dry vacuum and it worked very well. I guesstimate that there was around 65L of water on the floor as it was almost one and a half vacs full of water. Sigh now it’s smelly in my basement, gotta get all this wet cardboard out before it starts getting moldy.
LOL funny side note, in the storage area you have to crouch and I kept hitting my head on the beams so I took off all the crap off my Ops-core helmet and wore it. 🙂 Saved my head from many other bumps, a bit later I also put on my Alta knee pads… I told Maggie “See dual use!” though she didn’t seem impressed for some reason.
Chris got his hands on a FCC 416 PTW (who then sold it to Eric, bastard but still in the team lol) and put up a review of it on Youtube.
I think he did pretty well for his first review especially since it wasn’t scripted, not too many “umms” or “uhhs” and haha got to love the trigger control. 🙂 Man I can’t wait to check that thing out in real life, I’d love to get a FCC PTW but I already have two Systemas and they’ve served me pretty well… Never say never, who knows what the future will bring right.
It makes sense for us to do more and more reviews, we all like our technology and definitely go through a lot of it… LOL myself included I’ve been lazy and haven’t done any reviews of toys I picked up recently.
Hehe yesterday we decided to take Maggie’s folks to have dim sum (and so I could get a hair cut) and as we’re pulling into the mall, Brandon immediately says “no haircut!” His hair was pretty long and we’ve been meaning to get it cut for a while now lol I guess he could sense it. Lunch was fun, I haven’t had dim sum in a while so I definitely enjoyed the food. Near the end, I went out a bit early so I could get my head shaved and Maggie & Brandon joined me soon after. As expected he was scared and very fussy but we had no choice his hair was just too damn long… After about 10 minutes of crying we were done thank god.
Later we came home and everyone took a nap, well I didn’t but the rest of them did. In the evening we went to the restaurant Paradise at Leslie & Finch with my folks and sisters, it’s fancier than the average Chinese restaurant and dinner was fun. Brandon was very good and kept playing with everyone, hehe he’s so damn cute but I guess all kids his age are. Didn’t do much after we got home, I played with Brandon a bit but then he went to bed.
Haha it doesn’t sound too bad but yeah I hate busy weekends, I like to relax and do nothing if I can. 😉
Maggie took her folks to Pacific Mall to walk around, no way I would go as I hate that place so I’m happily sitting at home relaxing… Too bad there’s work tomorrow and it’s going to be a busy one!
So last night we went to pick up Maggie’s father from the airport as he’ll be spending the next month or so with us. 🙂 I was worried about the drive but other than the typical rush hour traffic, the roads weren’t too bad despite the snowfall yesterday. As we were heading to the parking lot, Maggie warned her father that it’s the coldest day of the winter so far at -15C and his reply was that it’s ok because Chang Chun was -30C when he left!
It was nice to see how happy Maggie’s mom was when she saw her husband. Brandon was good he wasn’t afraid like last time, this time around he was busy playing with his cars and watching YouTube on the iPad. He did warm up to him later and said he loved his grand father later in Mandarin which was cute. He didn’t seem to jet lagged which was good but I’m sure it’ll take a few days to adjust anyway.
Maggie wants to take her folks somewhere warm but I’m cool to the idea, lol because I’m cheap and don’t want to spend the money haha… We’ll see what the future brings.
So I’m happy to let the world that Maggie got a new job! It’s just a temporary gig, 9 week contract but the new firm has other positions available after she done with the current job. She’ll be paid an hourly wage and it’s actually more than I make which is a pretty huge jump from where she is now (more than doubled her pay woo!) The new job starts on March 1st so she’ll have to put up with RBC’s BS for just over a month but at least there’s some light at the end of the tunnel now.
With her new wage, our household income will increase ~38% which is absolutely awesome! No new toys though, we’re going to put that money away till she lands a permanent job then maybe after we’ll increase our investments for retirement. Yeah we’re boring lol!
Brandon’s black eye is getting better, I was talking to Maggie earlier and we agree that we’re lucky he didn’t injure the eye itself.
While Brandon has learnt a lot from the day care he’s at, I’d like to move him to the one in the elementary school next door to my house instead. We just have to get potty training down, he’s making progress but it’s slow. Ahh well he gets it when he gets it right.
Last night the boys and I went to Ultimate Airsoft to play, it’s been a while so some of us figured why not. There was a large crowd at UA, I guestimate that there were at least 40 people at the height of it so the UA staff divided the people into groups A & B and we rotated having access on the field. We were part of group B and to make things fair the ref split us up between the walk ons which was fine by us. I think we played 6 or 7 games and they were all great, these were the types of games where if you get shot you think “damn that was nice” and congratulated your opponents after the game.
At the end of the night management decided to put both groups together for one last big game and that’s where things fell apart. I’ve always had problems getting the guys from Pacific Recon (they were in group A) to acknowledge hits, whether it be at UA, Flag Raiders, TTAC3 or where ever and knew it probably wouldn’t end well and yeah I was right… It wasn’t just us, a few guys from the 1st Rangers who were playing with us (good guys, played for years with them) also had a ton of problems. Non calls were one thing, Chris even had a propane tank thrown at him at one point!
The blatent cheating was so bad a few of us just walked off the field since it wasn’t worth it. I was next to Tom when he tried to get one of the PR members to go with him and talk to the ref to which he replied “I’m not talking to the ref” and ran away. If there is no honour in airsoft then it’s not worth playing.
It’s too bad because we got along great with the founders of the team but they don’t play much now and it’s gone down hill… I guess that shouldn’t be a surprise when the only criteria to join the team is that you’re Filipino… Please note I’m not trying to paint all Filipino players with the same brush, there are plenty that play fair (hell we have a couple on the team, who helped PR get off the ground) but this group is definitely making all of them look bad.
I posted my thoughts in a constructive manner on Airsoft Canada and a few guys who were running in my group posted video evidence of the BS we had to put up with. We’re suppose to be playing for fun, what’s the point when the other side cheats and ruins it for everyone…
Brandon’s eye didn’t swell up much further but it’s starting to turn darker… I guess it’ll be a full blown black eye very shortly, sigh so sad but it’s kind of cute at the same time.
He also does this funny thing where he pokes the bruises then makes a funny face, it’s pretty cute but I wish he’d stop that haha.
So I get a call from Maggie today informing me that Brandon fell at day care and hurt his face… When I get home I see the damage and it looks pretty bad, totally breaks my heart.
I understand that kids will fall and hurt themselves but I’m a bit upset that we’re getting different stories… The official report says he fell on the stairs while his teacher told Maggie that he fell on the slide. Sigh I know this is going to happen but it still hurts when it happens to your kid. 🙁 Good thing is he’s as active as ever.
