Listed

Our house still needed some touch ups which were completed Saturday night and the agent listed it Sunday morning.  We had 3 visitors already and will be taking offers next Tuesday so I’m sure there will be a lot of people in and out during the next week or so.  Ugh my house is full of my realtor’s staging crap and my home feels so fake right now but this is what I suppose to make people interested I guess.  We’ve priced it low hoping that we can get a bidding war, unfortunately the market has slowed down substantially in the last month but I still live in a good area next to a lot of amenities so fingers crossed!  There are two other houses North of me which listed for $1.58 & $1.8 million so I’m hoping that makes my home look more attractive lol.

A walk in the park

Monday after work I went to the cottage, a delivery was scheduled for Tuesday and since I had an early morning meeting I figure it’d be easier to spend the night there.  I arrived in town just after 6 and decided to walk around the South Foster Park, it was lovely and there’s so many animals out and about!

There were so many turtles and a few small what looked like baby turtles which were very cute and a tern put on a show fishing.  I read that osprey are in the area too but didn’t catch them, I showed Brandon what I found and he was very jealous lol.  Next time we’re in town I’ll take the family for a longer walk and explore more of the park, quite a few people remarked at the size of the Canon RF 100-500mm lens, I mean it’s not that big but lead to some fun conversations with the locals. 🙂

Broke his heart

So yesterday I told my neighbor that we’ll be selling the house and it looked like it broke his heart.  To be fair he’s been a pretty great neighbor and I’ll definitely miss him, sigh I just wanted to give him a heads up before a sign goes up on my lawn.

Liberals are out of ideas

In the summer there will be a provincial election and the Ontario Liberal party must be pretty desperate if they’re talking about guns so early.  Are they really out of ideas already on how to improve the lives of people in this province?

I always ask, what’s the ultimate goal here is it to save lives or do anti gun people just hate guns?  I can respect someone’s argument that if they don’t like guns and think they should be banned but spare me the crap about saving lives because if that’s the case, gun deaths are not even a drop in the bucket compared to the even the top 10 leading causes of death.  307,205 deaths in Canada in 2020, 277 of them were from guns.  Hmm looking at the graph there was a sharp increase after Trudeau came to power, does correlation say Liberal governments are bad for gun crime?  Yes the last part was me being a smartass…

RCMP failure after failure

The public inquiry into the Nova Scotia killing continues and man this simply shows how incompetent the RCMP was that night.  Some officers wanted to send out a broadcast to the public, the bureaucracy took over and cost people their lives.

Two years after her father was gunned down by a man disguised as a Mountie, Charlene Bagley remains convinced he would be alive today had the Nova Scotia RCMP issued a provincewide alert early in the killer’s rampage.

“He usually would check the news on Facebook,” Bagley said in a recent interview, recalling the morning of April 19, 2020 when her father Tom was murdered. “That was his morning routine. But at that point, they weren’t showing the perpetrator’s face or anything.”

The RCMP’s communication with the public during the gunman’s 13 hours at large has become a focal point for the commission of inquiry investigating the worst mass shooting in modern Canadian history, which claimed 22 lives on April 18-19, 2020.

The RCMP failed the people of Nova Scotia that night, they had information about the killer, his fake uniform and police car within a few hours yet sat on it till the next morning then only relying on Twitter of all damn mediums to put out bulletins.  I really hope that heads roll and some actual accountability comes out instead of the ridiculous narrative about “assault weapons” and that banning would keep people safe.  If that were in place, it would not have stopped the gunman from doing what he did.

First weekend at the cottage!

We decided to head to the cottage Thursday afternoon to spend a couple of days there and it was absolutely great.  It was nice to have Maggie & Brandon around to help build some furniture but the first evening we just walked around downtown which was pretty much like a ghost town lol.  I guess small towns shut down on holidays so that was definitely an interesting experience.

We ended up eating at Swiss Chalet, it’s close to our cottage and easy which is nice.

Friday we went to the HR Frink Conservation area and it was nice to get out into nature.  A really cool place, I can see us walking around there a lot when the weather is nicer.  There is a nice boardwalk and I’m really excited to see what type of birds I might be able to spot in the future.

Hehe it’s very cute of the locals to put lost items near the entrance, pretty smart if you ask me.  It was pretty cold and windy so we didn’t stay on the boardwalk too much and the grounds were really muddy at certain points so we only walked around for about an hour and a half.  We then went for a drive and woo I found a bunch of Osprey, I love those things!

Mmm what majestic birds, I hope I can catch one diving for fish one day that’d be pretty awesome.

In the afternoon we went home and built the rest of the furniture and lol Brandon absolutely hated it.  At one point he said he realized building furniture is like adult Lego and now he hates Lego haha…  It took a lot of time but was worth it.

We bought a sofa bed which is still yet to be delivered as well as outdoor stuff but we’re getting closer to having it ready for the nicer warmer! 🙂  There’s a licensing fee if we want to run a short term rental in Belleville so I’ll have to take care of that but yeah it’s going to be fun.

Finally this morning I woke up early, around 630 or 7am and saw this which broke my heart.

There was a morning dove mourning the passing of what I guess is its mate and from what I read some of these birds mate for life.  It was by its side till we went out in the morning around 9, it flew away as we exited the house and came back later.  Definitely very sad to see.

We hit a small farmer’s market then went back, lol despite being at the cottage Maggie and Brandon didn’t go to the water till the very end.  As we left I noticed that another morning dove made a nest under the awning at the front of the house which is pretty neat.

We took two cars, Maggie and Brandon went straight home while I took a detour and went for a nice drive.  Got back mid afternoon and we still have some contractors here doing some work, they’ll be here late and all 3 of us are in the small guest room because it’s one of the rooms that’s not all dusty…  can’t wait for the work to be done, we might have missed the peak of the house selling season but I still think we’ll do alright.  Hope to list in May and go from there.

Sore wrist…

On Saturday, I went to the cottage by myself to put furniture together it made sense to go myself because I figure it’d be a frustrating affair and that I’d be cursing a lot.  Surprisingly it wasn’t too bad until it was time to assemble the dining room chairs and my god they’re so difficult!  So many screws directly into the wood with no predrilled hole and I’m not exactly handy lol…

The beds are both doubles and JYST sells the mattress all rolled up vacuum sealed so I left sealed and will unfurl it next weekend so Maggie & Brandon can hear the suction sound lol.  Spent a full 8 1/2  hours putting stuff together before calling in quits, I still have 3 cabinets & a TV stand to put together.  Easter weekend is coming and we’ll go up for part of the weekend so I can get Maggie & Brandon to lend a hand.

My wrist really hurts from using tools and I suspect I’ll need to wear the brace for quite some time grr.  On the way back I took the backroads and what’s typically a 1 1/2 hour drive on the highway ended up being just over 3 hours but man it was so much fun.  Found some really nice twisty roads and by myself I took the corners pretty hard.  The Lexus IS 350 AWD came with a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires which are pretty good and there’s just so much grip!  Rewarding myself for doing a good job lol.

Today we didn’t do too much, Brandon had a friend over so in the afternoon I killed the kids in Nerf. 😉  After that I cleaned the garage a bit, I’ve started to pack and will store some boxes in the garage to declutter the house, we’ll be listing it soon and may have missed the peak a bit but we live in a good area next to a decent school so I’m not too worried.  In the long run we’ll be ahead quite a bit so that’s all that matters.

Short week, lol that means it’s going to be pretty busy but that’s how it goes.

Beautiful

There was a pretty heavy downpour in the late afternoon here, thankfully it was brief and when the sun came out this rainbow lit up the skies.

Mmm beautiful, it was so bright, the photo doesn’t do it justice.

Delivery

Early this morning I drove to Belleville to stay at the cottage as we were getting a large furniture order and it was absolutely beautiful out.  I worked out of the backyard, by mid day it got to a high of 17C, the birds were out chirping and I even saw some bees flying around!

I’m going back again this weekend this time to build the stuff, we still need a few odds and ends but picked up all the big stuff which is nice.  While I was there I had my Canon EOS R5 & the RF 100-500mm lens and I hope to catch something a bit more exciting than common birds, I have seen bald eagles flying around so maybe I’ll get lucky one day. 🙂

Needs to be fired

So this pisses me off very much, we give police officers a lot of power and responsibility and in turn, they’re suppose to be out there protecting the public.  I’m sorry but part of the job is putting their lives on the line and if that’s something they can’t do, they should find another profession.

Peterson told commission lawyers that he debated what do next. He ultimately decided to turn around and give chase but before doing so drove for another 1.2 kilometres while the gunman drove out of sight. Peterson explained that after deciding to pursue the replica police cruiser, the highway was too narrow to make a quick U-turn so he continued driving north.

“I’m trying to decide, should I stop, slow down, talk to this person, or keep going?” Peterson told commission counsel.

“So, I said, ‘If I stop and this is the bad guy, I’m going to get shot here, I’m going to get killed. If I continue on, that will give me a chance to turn around and pursue him, or to do something,’” he stated.

This officer should be fired at a minimum, dereliction of duty and due to him not confronting the killer at the first opportunity probably cost people their lives…  Failures at all levels of the RCMP but it’s ok the Liberals say banning guns will solve this problem, ridiculous!
