New Toy

I recently picked up a used TM MK23 SOCOMย  NBB pistol and man this thing is pretty big!ย  Definitely not designed for someone with small hands but damn is it cool. ๐Ÿ™‚

MK23

The LAM (laser aiming module) is pretty useless, other than for looks no one in their right mind would keep that thing installed.ย  The suppressor on the other hand does help dampen the sound of the gun and since there’s no blow back it’s probably one of the quietest pistols on the market.ย  I think I’ll be keeping this thing, heh mom and dad don’t worry it only cost me $100 so please don’t give me the 3rd degree. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Team Sponsor?

On Saturday a few of the boys and I went to One Shot Tactical to meet Darren the owner as he was interested in sponsoring Team GHOSTS. It was the initial meeting and things went well, I think it’ll be beneficial for both parties to move ahead but the everyone on the team has to be cool about it and I haven’t heard from every member yet.ย  Man I’m glad that I have multiple load outs already, if I didn’t I would be tempted to buy a lot of gear (and he’s got some first class stuff!)

Just a few pictures of what’s available and it’s all real combat gear.

Ikea sigh…

Earlier in the week I was trying to order a few things from Ikea’s website and man talk about backwards.ย  First half the things I wanted was not available for online sale (and I can’t call in my order either) and next in order to take advantage of the delivery discount, Ikea charges me in full ($169.99 yeah in store it’s $69.99) and then refunds me the difference later.

After having to talk to customer service a few times (for some reason Ikea has problems with RBC Visas…) I decided to cancel my order because it just costs so much more to deal online than in the store.ย ย  3 days later they charge my credit card anyway and will refund me (hopefully, I haven’t gotten it yet) early next week.

Oh well whatever, today Maggie and I went to the Vaughan store to pick out the stuff we need and end up blowing $1800. ๐Ÿ™ Sigh living in a house can be expensive and we’re not even done yet.ย  Still I’m glad we got what we did at least the main level is now pretty much complete, onto the second and third floors after my current debts are paid off lol!

Relaxing Weekend

This weekend has been rather relaxing.ย  Friday night I went to get some CQB action at TTAC3 and had a pretty good game.ย  It was fun to see the boys and play with some vets, we owned the night. The way we all played together was great, very coordinated, aggressive and decisive, that feeling was great and more satisfying than racking up a lot of kills. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also got to see and fire Brian’s new WE M4 GBBR WETTI and KSC MP7A1 GBB and both are awesome!ย  The WE M4 is fun to play with the but the 30 round limit turns me off, it’s ok for mil sims but anyone playing a skirmish (and that’s the bulk of the games) with one will be severely out gunned.ย  That and Maggie would freak if I got yet another set of M4/M16 mags. The bolt though is a heck of a lot of fun to play with!

The KSC MP7A1 on the other hand is something I think I’ll pick up myself. ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Even though the mags come as real caps (20 round short, 40 round long), for CQB it’s more than enough.ย  Already sourced one and will be adding to my collection hopefully within a month’s time.

Didn’t do much the rest of the weekend, today Maggie and I went to see some more furniture and one thing is definitely apparent, I need to make more money lol.ย  Everything we like is so expensive…

Oh well that’s it, I guess it’s a nice change to be posting about my life rather than complaining about the world’s ails.

Sore!

Man night games are a ton of fun but they certainly take a toll on your body (especially if you’re like me and not in shape lol). Another good night at FlagRaiders heh command is fun I like yelling at others, poor Mike I boss him around at work then I boss him around at the game. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That field can be quite difficult to navigate in the dark, there are lots of hills and gullies, I fell a few times and there’s a huge bruise on my right shin but the game was definitely worth it. Pictures are coming, Brian took a few and I’ll post them when they’re available.

Other than that I don’t have much news to report in my life, not really busy with anything other than work I guess I’ve just been a bit lazy with updates.

Great night!

Yesterday Chris held a night game at FlagRaiders and it was a lot of fun.ย  I haven’t played a night game in quite some time and man I have to get some night vision! ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  The mil sim was well run, clear objectives and simple play which is my favorite and kudos goes to Jeremy for playing a darn scary terminator!

Here’s a quick team picture yeah a mish mash of camo but at night it doesn’t make a big difference.ย ย  It was a fun night and I can’t wait to play with my boys (and girls) again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Combat Machine M4A1 First Look

With the outdoor airsoft season starting to heat up a lot of friends have recently expressed interest in trying airsoft out so that means I’m in need of a solid gun to act as a loaner. Yes I have quite a few guns as it is but nothing I’d want to lend out to a newbie, if this new one breaks well at least it was cheap. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just picked up a Combat Machine (G&G’s entry level subsidiary) M4A1, yeah I know another plain jane M4 but newbs like this type of gun and I already have mags/batteries.ย  Here’s a few pics of the gun and next to the PTW to give you an idea at how it at least cosmetically matches up.

I’m told that the plastic body is fibre reinforced and it does feel more solid than TM/JG’s ABS plastic bodies but if you fall on Combat Machine M4 or bump it hard it’ll still break like most other AEGs; something I am a master of… The package comes with a longer than average 450 round hi cap magazine and 1000 rounds of 0.2g BBs. Out of the box it chronies in at 320 fps which is perfect for newbies, I won’t be upgrading this thing.

It does have one cool feature, when you fire the thing the fake bolt moves back and forward.ย  Certainly a neat but gimmicky.

Anyway I’ll pull the gun apart to do a complete review later, it’s Sunday and I want to enjoy the rest of my weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Awesome field

Over the weekend the GHOSTS and I went to play Operation Broadsword in Picton and I have to say the field is absolutely amazing.ย  Formerly a mental hospital,ย  the play area is huge and the indoor facility was quoted at being 130,000 square feet in size. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Here are a couple of pictures, Jason’s in the pic to give the buildings some scale…

field1field2

The interior consists of large hallways, tons of rooms, a full kitchen facility and even a gym.ย  There’s more to the building but I didn’t explore the place as well as I wanted. Pictures of the interior were not allowed because it’s currently a Department of Defense training facility and indoors we saw grenade pins, targets and a ton of breach holes (they’re surprisingly clean) in walls and doors. If you’re going to play here definitely bring a flashlight and lots of batteries, even with clear skies and lots of sun the interior can be quite dark, pitch black at spots.

The game itself was a bit boring I mean the GHOSTS were guarding the most important objective, yet I think we fired a handful of shots in its defence.ย  The attacking team simply did not attack so it was a bit frustring, that and generally people on our side were not team players. Still seeing the field and picturing its potential was well worth the lousy game.

No biggie, Border War 3 will be held at this place too and with Brian in charge of the Canadian team, I’m sure I can pick and choose whatever task I want. Those who are under my command better be ready to run, I ain’t going to hold back just because we run into opposition. ๐Ÿ˜€

A picture of the my boys (and girl) before the game started, field was awesome but the game definitely was lacking.

PTW Back Up

Special thanks to the boys at Empire Airsoft for letting me grab the last Super Max PTW motor. My original 490-A motor has been causing me problems since pretty much the beginning and died last week. It’s a known issue with this series of motors, just sucks that my gun was affected…ย  Anyway the new motor has been installed and the gun is running great, well at least to the best of what I could test at home.ย  Should get a better idea this Saturday after gaming the PTW. ๐Ÿ™‚

On another note my MSN is still down and now I’ve lost access to my Hotmail account.ย  This is supposedly a known issue that affects many people (I’m the only person I know with the problem) and Microsoft is working to resolve the situation, god I hope it’s soon because I’m going crazy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

CA M249 MK2

Today I picked up a “broken” Classic Army M249 MK2 LMG for a relatively cheap price and had to share. ๐Ÿ™‚

Heh I had to make a deal with Maggie, if I get this thing I have to sell the A&K M249 Para which is ok since I’ve always liked the MK2 model more. Not only is the new gun a better brand, it came with two box mags and a full sized battery. Yeah it’s technically broken but I found the problem and it’ll cost ~$10 to fix. ๐Ÿ˜€

CBC Marketplace: The Trouble with Fake Guns

A few weeks ago a CBC film crew came down to TTAC3 to talk to players and to get some footage for a story about fake guns.ย  I did a lengthy interview but it wasn’t put into the piece, I guess they weren’t interested in hearing someone talk about responsibility and safety. ๐Ÿ˜‰ In any case the piece can be found here, yes I’m on camera a few times but I doubt you’ll recognize me with my face mask on.

Overall it’s about as balanced as I could expect. Personally I think anyone who commits a crime with a fake gun (be it airsoft, BB or nerf) should be dealt with as if they’re using a real firearm, which is the case when it comes to prosecution and charges.
