Over the weekend the GHOSTS and I went to play Operation Broadsword in Picton and I have to say the field is absolutely amazing.ย Formerly a mental hospital,ย the play area is huge and the indoor facility was quoted at being 130,000 square feet in size. ๐ย Here are a couple of pictures, Jason’s in the pic to give the buildings some scale…

The interior consists of large hallways, tons of rooms, a full kitchen facility and even a gym.ย There’s more to the building but I didn’t explore the place as well as I wanted. Pictures of the interior were not allowed because it’s currently a Department of Defense training facility and indoors we saw grenade pins, targets and a ton of breach holes (they’re surprisingly clean) in walls and doors. If you’re going to play here definitely bring a flashlight and lots of batteries, even with clear skies and lots of sun the interior can be quite dark, pitch black at spots.
The game itself was a bit boring I mean the GHOSTS were guarding the most important objective, yet I think we fired a handful of shots in its defence.ย The attacking team simply did not attack so it was a bit frustring, that and generally people on our side were not team players. Still seeing the field and picturing its potential was well worth the lousy game.
No biggie, Border War 3 will be held at this place too and with Brian in charge of the Canadian team, I’m sure I can pick and choose whatever task I want. Those who are under my command better be ready to run, I ain’t going to hold back just because we run into opposition. ๐

A picture of the my boys (and girl) before the game started, field was awesome but the game definitely was lacking.
