New toys are fun!

Earlier in the week Mike and I traded AEGs, I gave him my Echo 1 416 and he passed me his Echo 1 M14 SOCOM.  It was a good trade and both parties got exactly what they were looking for. 🙂  I ordered a few parts from eHobby Asia on Wednesday and got them today, damn that was really fast!  Anyway most of the parts were internal upgrades since Echo 1 QC is err questionable but anyway I was able to install almost everything aside from the M14 gears.  Seems like Echo 1 or whomever it sources for M14s use version 2/3 gears instead of version 7 (ver 7 spur gear is smaller) so I wasn’t able to install those but everything else has been pretty much replaced internally.

I’d like to change the outer barrel assembly from SOCOM to full length but that can come later.  Hmm I’ll probably have to get a new Prometheus inner barrel too but meh I can worry about that then. 😉 Anyway here’s a quick picture the rifle, I think the Aimpoint will be more useful than a rifle scope considering the engagement distances in airsoft.  If I play spotter/sniper I always have the CA M24.  Next up a sweet paint job…

On the origins of species 150 years later…

One of the most influential books in the history of human civilization was published 150 years ago today, Charles Darwin’s On the Origins of Species.  Considered blasphemy when it was released, the theory (albeit with slight modifications) has stood up to the test of time and is considered the gold standard of scientific theories.

Charles Darwin‘s On the Origin of Species, published on 24 November 1859, is a seminal work of scientific literature, considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology. Its full title was On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. For the sixth edition of 1872, the short title was changed to The Origin of Species. Darwin’s book introduced the theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection. It presented a body of evidence that the diversity of life arose through a branching pattern of evolution and common descent. Darwin included evidence that he had accumulated on the Beagle expedition in the 1830s and his subsequent findings from research, correspondence, and experimentation.

Thank you Mr. Darwin for revolutionizing the way we think about life on this small planet. 🙂

The big 3-0!

Today I turn 30 and it certainly sounds like a big number.  Maggie was bugging me about it this morning as are some of the guys at the office but in all honesty it doesn’t bother me much.  It’s just a number, lol mentally I’m probably closer to 12 but that’s another matter. 😉  Well anyway happy birthday to me woo…

Maggie got me a Playstation 3 slim and I picked up used copies of GTA4 and Street Fighter 4 along with Marvel VS Capcom 2 from the online Playstation store.  Fun stuff and I have so many games I have to play right now.  Thanks babe, it was a great gift!!! =D

Push forward, advance, ADVANCE!!!

So I picked up copy of Modern Warfare 2 on Tuesday and have been playing the last two nights after work, and in the process driving Maggie crazy lol.  The story continues where Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare left off or err it does but 5 years later, the world is still a messed up place and things are getting worse.  Won’t give away any more info, don’t want to be a spoiler but I have to say I rather enjoyed the single player portion of the game.  Multiplayer isn’t bad (there isn’t any of the cheesy stuff yet) though limiting matches to 9 vs 9 for the PC is a real drag.

Sigh the only problem is that there is so much cool equipment in the game and now I want to get a lot more gear for airsofting lol.  Yeah the gear bug bit me pretty badly, now I have a whole lot of stuff I need to buy. 😉

Oh I also picked up a copy of Gran Turismo PSP but I’ll play that after I’m burnt out on MW2.

I like cats

As I mentioned earlier I’m cat sitting Simba for my folks and man is it fun.  That cat does the cutest things (I’m sure every cat owner says the same thing) and I am really happy that there’s a cat in the house.   Maybe Maggie will notice and not get mad at me if I get my own cat later on… 😉  Anyway I’ve taken a lot of pictures and will post them shortly for everyone to see.

On Sunday I went to play Airsoft and I couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather.  Got to give the KWA MP7A1 a good workout and it’s certainly field capable though the 40 round magazines is a bit of a limitation for skirmishes.  For mil sims where there’s an ammo limit it’s not a big deal but going up against guys with multiple hi caps is asking for trouble lol.  I’ll post a review on it shortly, having too much fun playing with it right now. 😀  Definitely worthy of being my indoor/CQB primary from now on.

One Scared Kitty

I’m cat sitting Simba for my folks as they’re going on vacation for two weeks and man he’s so cute! =D  It’s the first time he’s been to my house and man is the little kitty scared, lol searching I found him hunkered in a dark corner.

Scared

Sorry about the crappy picture, was taken with my Blackberry and the quality of the camera is poor.  Woo for me it’s going to be fun to have Simba in the house.

Sick, piggy flu?

It happens every year almost like clockwork, when the weather gets colder I catch a bug.  It’s an odd one, I only have a slight fever but I do have a headache and muscle pains which leads me to believe I have the flu.  Well at least I lasted this long, the bug has been circulating around the office for a month now and I caught it at the tail end I guess.

Being sick at home sucks, Maggie is not here to baby me and man day time TV is boring as hell lol.  Oh well I guess I can’t complain to much, I’ve been productive and cleaned a lot that’s a positive right…

Yeah there’s not much to this blog post, I’m out of material and I think I’m going to make some soup.
