Darn it…

I rarely talk about work on my blog but sigh we just got word that my company lost the account I work on. Not sure what that means for me, if I get transitioned onto something else or worse am out of a job but I guess I’ll find out soon. Not sure how fast the transition will be but I expect the other agency to take over starting the account’s new fiscal year which starts on July 1st.

Damn I hate uncertainty but this is the industry that I chose and got to take the good with the bad. I always land on my feet but now I have to put on hold everything I wanted to do this year…

Another Brandon filled weekend

On Saturday Maggie didn’t have to go into the office which was kind of nice and since it’s been a while, we had a dim sum lunch as a family and I really enjoyed it. πŸ™‚ We noticed later that Brandon had some bumps on his face and arms, after his afternoon nap they seemed to have gone away so we didn’t think much more of it but as the afternoon progressed they got worse. My mom came over in the afternoon and played with Brandon then we all went out for dinner at the spicy food restaurant that I like and that was fun.

Sunday morning Brandon had hives all over his torso, legs and arms and there were pink patches on his face though no bumps. πŸ™

I called my mom, she was concerned last night and I said I’d call if it got worse and yeah it did… Not sure what to do we decided to take him to Shoppers Drug Mart to consult the pharmacist and he recommended Brandon take some children’s benadryl and if it didn’t get better to bring him to the pediatrician on Monday. I appreciate the advice but lol that’s what I told Maggie we should do on the way there…

After dropping Maggie off at her business, I took Brandon and my mom down to the bluffs (yes again) as it’s a nice day and I figure we’d all enjoy it. πŸ™‚

For lunch my mom, Brandon and I went to the local Pho restaurant close to my home and it was good. Brandon kept telling us that he wasn’t tired but fell asleep pretty quickly which I always find funny… My mom went home after Brandon went down for a nap and I played on my computer a bit.

When he got up we played a bit and Brandon was complaining his left knee hurt. Not sure what happened, when I look and feel his knee it’s obvious that it’s swollen a bit though it didn’t really stop him and he wanted to go to the park. I guess he got enough bike riding this morning because this time around he decided he wanted to walk so we went for a stroll.

LOL in the last picture we found a worm in the sand and he was particularly excited about that. I told him that we had to put it back because it was cold and he gave it a nice burial.

Picked up Maggie and now we’re just relaxing… Oh Jeannie just texted me that she gave birth to her daughter so woo there! πŸ™‚

“God” help them…

I’ve noticed this shift with the religious community, now instead of debating the merits of a scientific theory religious nut jobs claim things/events/etc can not be verified because no one alive can confirm that those things happened. Haha perhaps I didn’t word that very well because I’m at work but this quote should give you all you need to know…

Jorge Delarosa, a 39-year-old architect from Bridgewater, N.J., pointed to a warm 2012 without a winter and said, “I feel the change. There must be a reason.” But when it came to Earth’s beginnings 4.5 billion years ago, he has doubts simply because “I wasn’t there.”
Source: Huffington Post

That’s great, not to believe in the age of the planet because he wasn’t present at the beginning… How is this guy an architect, he has to use logic and reasoning everyday except when he deals with religion. With that line of reasoning, how can we be sure that anyone or anything existed before we were born or before the immediate generations of people around us were born?

Religion is a cancer to civilization and the sooner we shed this dead weight the better.

Productive!

This morning after dropping Maggie off at the subway I went to Active Green & Ross to get my winter tires swapped with my all seasons and yay it only took an hour and a half lol. The location I go to is always busy, they provide good service so I don’t mind waiting, it’s not like I had anything to do anyway. I asked the mechanic to look and assess my tires and he said they were in excellent condition so yeah that’s good news.

When I came home I completed the yearly Microsoft ethical standards training, I had all April to do it but left it to the last day because I have been so busy at the office… Oh well at least it’s taken care of.

While I was watching Jerry Springer (yes I love that show, along with Maury) I decided to clean out my Nornico AR-15 upper and Norinco SKS. I probably didn’t need to clean the AR as I only fired around 300 rounds but I wanted to get to know the internals better and well with the SKS I had to clean it out because I’m firing corrosive Chinese ammunition. It was fun and something I really enjoyed though I didn’t have enough rags so I went through a lot of paper towel.

20140421_09595020140421_104203

I was surprised at the amount of carbon build up on the bolt carrier group, bolt, firing pin and upper but it was easy to remove at least. I didn’t find the SKS too difficult to clean either, though all the cosmoline coming out of the wood work was a bit annoying to remove. I wiped the stock down the best I could and can still feel it when I hold the gun, oh well it’s only a matter of time before it works itself out. With that said I’m actually considering replacing the Norinco SKS wood, my gun is in poor condition with a lot of scratches and discolouration and I don’t have the skill to restain it myself. On CGN I’ve seen some nice Russian wood kits pop up every now and then, maybe I’ll buy one for my gun. LOL either that or go tacticool and get a Tapco stock on it.

I had no trouble putting everything back together and mmm both guns are cycling very smoothly, I can’t wait to go to the range again!

For lunch I met up with Mario for Pho, it was a bit out of the way but I wanted to return his airsoft guns that I’ve been holding since last summer when I brought some coworkers to play airsoft at UA. Haha he’s an awesome guy and it’s always fun to have lunch with him.

Before coming home I hit up my local CT to pick up some gun cleaning supplies and rags, I think I should be pretty set moving forward… Then again who knows I’m still a newb and am learning as I go.

A few weeks ago I jumped on an order for team flags with Brayden, he gave me mine yesterday and I put it up today on my wall.

It looks awesome in my man cave and really gives the room character, I love it!

Wee range day

So today I went to the Silverdale Gun Club with Brayden and his gf Chrissy, Laura was suppose to go too but she had to bail unfortunately. Still probably a good thing as I was driving and I had to lay one of the rear passenger seats down so we could transport the long arms. Anyway I was super stoked to go today because it would be the first time I could shoot my own gun, while I have my PAL/RPAL I can’t bring the restricted fun toys till after I get my ATT (working on that). I did bring Temir’s Ruger 10/22, my SKS and my Norinco AR-15 upper, Bray brought his NEA AR-15 & Glock 34.

20140420_11203120140420_11205620140420_11210520140420_112106

Hehe I had a great time shooting Bray’s lower with my upper. Tested the PMags I picked up yesterday along with the aluminum mags and they all fed very well. The SKS was a lot of fun to shoot too though loading it was a bit of a pain and the stripper clip I got was useless so I had to load bullets into the fixed magazine by hand. Good thing I’m off tomorrow, need to clean the SKS out as I’m shooting corrosive ammo and I’ll clean out my AR-15 upper as well. Funny the cosmoline that was absorbed by the wood was oozing out of the stock and I had to constantly wipe the rifle down, oh well after a few more trips I’m sure it’ll be good.

A bit later, we saw Jay and haha man that guy always has nice toys!!! I got to shoot his Vltor AR-15, Sig 1911, H&K P30 and some 357 magnum revolver… It was very nice of him to let me shoot his guns and damn it I really liked the H&K P30 and 1911.

Hehe yay I have tomorrow off though I’ll be running errands all day, nothing exciting planned but that’s how it goes and I’m perfectly fine with that.

Fun and busy day

Maggie went to do her tax business thing this morning so it meant it was mainly Brandon and I for much of the day which is ok, he’s a good boy and a lot of fun. πŸ™‚ Even though the weather was nice, Brandon preferred to stay at home for some reason so we just played around here. We watched some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and for lunch we had pizza. Haha it’s always cute to watch him eat that and I wish I took some pictures but I forgot unfortunately.

After lunch Brandon took a nap and always looks like an angel, one that snores pretty loud which I find hilarious. Sometimes I just like to watch him sleep, he looks so peaceful and it reminds me of what really is important in life. πŸ™‚

When Maggie got home at around 3PM, I stepped out to go to Al Flaherty’s to pick up some ammo for tomorrow. Brayden and I ordered some surplus Norinco 5.56×45 ammo from an online store in BC but it didn’t get here in time so we decided to get some locally, it was a bit more than online but meh whatever we need ammo and you really can’t have enough. πŸ˜‰ I also picked up 500 rounds of 9mm for him, 200 rounds of 9mm for Marcia and 50 rounds of .45 ACP for me, a couple of Magpul PMags and an ammo container.

Ammo_CrateAmmo_Spam_DetailsAmmo_Spam_OpenRS_Stuff

Hehe there are an additional 4 aluminum AR-15 mags (pinned at the front), I purchased them used from a friend and he gave them to Marcia so after I dropped by the store I went to her home to swap goodies. πŸ™‚

After I got home, Maggie wanted to go out to eat but Brandon put the kibosh on that and wanted to stay at home for some reason. Went for a nice family walk after dinner to the local Tim Hortons, Brandon and I both got Iced Lemonades while Maggie got a French Vanilla.

20140419_18284620140419_182910

Hehe it’s so funny that when Brandon drinks, he walks slower… I dunno why I took a picture of our shadows, I just thought it was cool.

Mmm looking forward to tomorrow, too bad I can’t bring my restricted guns yet but I will sign up for the ATT class in May and get that stuff done sooner than later!

Lots of Brandon time

Mmm I love long weekends and with Maggie busy during tax season I have a lot of time to spend with Brandon. Last night before Maggie got home I took Brandon to the park and he was pretty cute and this morning I took him out to the Bluffs to feed the birds and so he could ride his bike at a new place.

20140418_10311520140418_10361920140418_124010

Brandon was not use to riding on gravel and it was cute to hear him grunt when riding over sticks or up hill… He must have tired himself out because on the way home he almost fell asleep a few times. After lunch he said he wasn’t tired, I told him to lay down just to try and haha within a few minutes he was snoring. πŸ™‚

Didn’t do too much in the afternoon, it was raining so we just played around the house. I’m glad Maggie came back relatively early today (she had to go into the office even though it’s Good Friday) because I was freaking tired… A quiet night and now the boy is asleep and I have some time to myself. πŸ™‚

Cheap AR-15

So woo today I received my Nornico CQ-A yay. Yeah it ain’t the Daniel Defense MK18 I originally wanted but I want to buy a new car this year and do some renovations to my house so I had to skimp somewhere. From all the reviews I’ve read and from talking to a few friends who own this rifle it is a decent value for the money so I figure why not give it a try… If it doesn’t work out well hell I’ll just sell it on CGN, these things sell pretty fast when listed for the price I paid for it. πŸ˜‰

CQ-ACQ-A_2

Haha yes I already added accessories a real KAC RIS (which was a real bitch to get on), real Aimpoint M2 and a repro Surfire M962 flashlight… I have a real Surefire M962 weapon light but I actually prefer the LED repro as it’s brighter and has a better spot. Let’s see how it handles being on a real gun. Anyway I plan to go to Silverdale again with Brayden but since I don’t have my ATT I’m only bringing the upper along. πŸ˜‰ I’ll use Bray’s NEA lower and at least can sight in my Aimpoint and have a bit of fun with the upper receiver.

We’ll see if I keep this thing in the long run, quality is mediocre at best as there are apparent casting lines on the lower receiver, the selector switch doesn’t give you a real tactile clock when the gun is set to fire and there’s wobble between the upper and lower but then again it’s cheap… I’ll have fun with this thing for now and get myself a nice DD MK18 next year. πŸ˜‰

Another family day

Today after dropping Maggie off so she can run her business, I went to my dad’s place to help him with his yard and man what a disaster. The ice storm back in Dec brought down a lot of branches and there was a don of other debris all over the place. LOL he had just gotten up and by 11:30AM we were all busy talking so instead of working he decided to hire professionals, phew! LOL I got off lucky, as a kid I always thought if there was a personal hell that mine would be gardening/yard work and lol if my dad needs help, I have to help right… While we were talking my mom was playing with Brandon and he had a lot of fun chasing Simba around too.

20140413_11210720140413_11210920140413_115505

Hehe in the second picture I was trying to get Simba and Brandon together like the first but the cat had other ideas… Decided to post it up because I thought it was a nice picture of my boy. πŸ™‚

Since it was around lunch time I took my parents out for Pho and it was fun… Hehe after all these years I still enjoy feeding Brandon limes. πŸ˜‰

Brandon didn’t want to sleep after we got home so we played a bit of basketball with the thing I bought him yesterday and lol it reminds me why there are so few Asian basketball players haha. A bit later we went out again so he could ride his bike and lol I love the smile he has when he’s riding his bicycle.

20140413_15114920140413_15310320140413_15311420140413_153131

After riding around the block a bit, we went to Brandon’s school to ride around as there is a large open that he can go nuts in.

Now we’re just relaxing at home and I’m looking forward to next weekend’s long weekend already haha.
