Productive!

This morning after dropping Maggie off at the subway I went to Active Green & Ross to get my winter tires swapped with my all seasons and yay it only took an hour and a half lol. The location I go to is always busy, they provide good service so I don’t mind waiting, it’s not like I had anything to do anyway. I asked the mechanic to look and assess my tires and he said they were in excellent condition so yeah that’s good news.

When I came home I completed the yearly Microsoft ethical standards training, I had all April to do it but left it to the last day because I have been so busy at the office… Oh well at least it’s taken care of.

While I was watching Jerry Springer (yes I love that show, along with Maury) I decided to clean out my Nornico AR-15 upper and Norinco SKS. I probably didn’t need to clean the AR as I only fired around 300 rounds but I wanted to get to know the internals better and well with the SKS I had to clean it out because I’m firing corrosive Chinese ammunition. It was fun and something I really enjoyed though I didn’t have enough rags so I went through a lot of paper towel.

I was surprised at the amount of carbon build up on the bolt carrier group, bolt, firing pin and upper but it was easy to remove at least. I didn’t find the SKS too difficult to clean either, though all the cosmoline coming out of the wood work was a bit annoying to remove. I wiped the stock down the best I could and can still feel it when I hold the gun, oh well it’s only a matter of time before it works itself out. With that said I’m actually considering replacing the Norinco SKS wood, my gun is in poor condition with a lot of scratches and discolouration and I don’t have the skill to restain it myself. On CGN I’ve seen some nice Russian wood kits pop up every now and then, maybe I’ll buy one for my gun. LOL either that or go tacticool and get a Tapco stock on it.

I had no trouble putting everything back together and mmm both guns are cycling very smoothly, I can’t wait to go to the range again!

For lunch I met up with Mario for Pho, it was a bit out of the way but I wanted to return his airsoft guns that I’ve been holding since last summer when I brought some coworkers to play airsoft at UA. Haha he’s an awesome guy and it’s always fun to have lunch with him.

Before coming home I hit up my local CT to pick up some gun cleaning supplies and rags, I think I should be pretty set moving forward… Then again who knows I’m still a newb and am learning as I go.

A few weeks ago I jumped on an order for team flags with Brayden, he gave me mine yesterday and I put it up today on my wall.

It looks awesome in my man cave and really gives the room character, I love it!
