So I got my CSA vz58 back about a month and a half ago and the last two times I brought it to the range, it had problems extracting the steel cases from the chamber… Frustrated I decided to buy a new surplus military extractor and I installed it into my rifle tonight.
The original extractor is the black one to the left and you can see there’s some damage on the hook that grabs the casing, I wonder if that small defect was causing the issue I’m experiencing. Anyway I installed the mil spec version on the right (though there were times I wished I had 3 hands!) and will give the thing a go next weekend. If this doesn’t solve my issue I’m going to have to send the rifle back to North Sylvia for a second go around, too bad because the gun has been super reliable till I broke the bolt (probably went through 2k rounds). With that said I think I’ll also buy a spare complete bolt to keep as a backup, I have one for my ARs mgith as well get one for this gun too.
