Dementia is sad

So this morning Brandon and I went to pick up Megan and Estelle to go visit grandma and she was happy to see us.  We were there for just over an hour and even though we were having the same conversations over and over, at least I could see that she was happy and that’s all that matters.  Every now and then I’d get Brandon to give her a hug and kiss and she’d just light up as she loves children. 🙂

Unfortunately when were leaving grandma got scared and wanted to come with us so I asked the girls to wait outside and to take Brandon too while I tried to console her. It was terrible what am I suppose to say to my grandmother…  I told her that other family members were coming soon and I left my phone number if there is any problem.  That seemed to work but man I think losing one’s mind is the worst fate someone could have, being frail is one thing but at least you’re still the same person if you have full control of your faculties but my grandmother is a shell of what she once was.

Still, grandma was very kind to me growing up and I will do my best to visit her regularly good or bad.

After I took the girls and Brandon for lunch and that was fun.  On the way to dropping Estelle off, we were on the DVP and traffic was pretty heavily my lane had to slow down rather suddenly and since I’m always scanning my mirrors I saw a car rear end the car behind me!  No one else noticed but man that was pretty scary, we were lucky in that one for sure.

Maggie took Brandon out mid afternoon while I stuck around the house to clean up a few things in the basement and I finally hooked up the TV in the basement.  Now the gaming systems, TV and Chromecast are hooked up, I’m ready to entertain. 😉

My grandmother was a great person and deserves a better fate, I’m glad I can still bring her a bit of happiness while she’s with us.
