I have a lot of vacation days left this year and can only carry over 5 so I took yesterday and Monday off. Yesterday after dropping Maggie at the subway station and Brandon at school, I took the Toyota to Don Valley North for routine service. I don’t mind trying to fix the small things but this time around I know that they’d do a full car inspection and from our last checkup, I know at least one set of the brakes needed to be changed and I’m not comfortable enough yet to do that myself though never say never…
It was really busy at the dealership, never seen it that swamped even though I got there at 7:30AM! Anyway I left the car came home then went to Al Flarhetys to pick up some goodies, initially I was eyeing some folding knives from their Black Friday sale but ended up walking away with a bit more uh as should be expected.
I have plenty of cheap .22LR ammo but CCI Mini Mags can still be difficult to come by so I bought 1k along with a box of Remington shot shells for clays. From the knife front, I bought a Gerber Answer FAST straight blade folder, it’ll replace my current utilitarian knife along with a straight edged Ka-bar. To be fair I only bought the big knife because it was cool and I figure that I’ll need a good solid knife when I go camping with Brandon so yeah forward thinking. 😉
After that I got home and had lunch with Stephen and Helene and it’s always good to see them. With so much time off in December I think we’ll probably get together a couple of more times.
Maggie’s car was ready in the late afternoon so I went back to Toyota, mechanically the car was in great shape but the brake fluid had to be changed and the front brakes replaced, that cost $774 which sucked but it had to be done… After picking up Brandon we played around the house for a bit then I picked up Maggie and we went to the spicy food restaurant for dinner and it’s always something I enjoy.
Brandon fell asleep on the drive to the subway station and to the restaurant and was groggy… Most of the time he looks like a young child to me now but when I see his sleeping face, I see the baby still. Anyway dinner was great we went home and relaxed the rest of the night.
This morning Brandon and I took Slinky to the vet for another booster shot and the kitty was pretty good overall. There were no “accidents” this time during the drive though it was pretty sad to hear his high pitched “mews” as the car moved around.
Slinky is very good with people though he didn’t like getting his temperature checked rectally this time around. He now weighs 1.92kg and in 3 weeks has gained 600 grams which is quite a bit considering how young he still is. One thing that was pretty cute, when the vet got the needle ready Brandon got a bit scared and hid behind me, haha I guess he can relate to Slinky’s pain since every time B goes to the doctor, he gets a shot too.
For lunch we hit up McD’s, I generally hate their food but the happy meals feature pokemon toys and I thought he’d like that. In the afternoon Maggie took Brandon to see The Good Dinosaur, it’s a kid movie so I stayed at home to clean up a few things and to get my stuff ready for the range on Monday. The rest of the evening we’ll just relax at home, I’m lazy and it’s exactly what I like to do. 🙂
