Muddy Winteree

So today the Agincourt Beaver colonies held their annual Winteree at the Woodland Trails Scout camp and boy was it a messy one.  The temperature was around 5c and with the rain yesterday, much of the snow had melted and the ground was an absolute mud pile…  Still that didn’t seem to damper the mood of the kids, I think there were maybe 50-60 of them along with parents, leaders and other support personnel and it was great.

I was with Tanya manning our part of the course so I didn’t get to go along with Brandon but he had a good time.  Dave, Chris’ dad took a bunch of pictures and will be sending them to me, when I get them I’ll post them up. 🙂

At our event, the kids had to play two games.  One was memory, go into the field look up some pictures of pirates and pirate things (this year’s theme), come back and tell us how many they remembered.  There were 10 pictures and two teams got 9 but no one was perfect.  The next game was a treasure hunt and the kids were to find 9 things hidden in the forest and they seemed to like that one.  Regardless of how well they did everyone got to open our treasure chest to get a gold coin (foil wrapped chocolate ones) and it was fun to see the faces light up when they got the first look at all the candy.

The event was 2 1/2 hours long and it went by pretty darn quickly.  Unfortunately even though it was warm, a few kids got wet feet and a few others were cold so I handed out heat packs and even lent another Beaver an extra pair of wool socks that I keep in the car (yes I’m a geek).

With that said, no one got hurt, everyone had a great time so job well done by everyone.  Brandon had such a good time he’s still singing the songs from the afternoon in the evening lol.
