I didn’t want to go swimming…

Took the day off today because I had a doctors appointment in the afternoon. Anyway in the morning I went to Silverdale and surprise, the 10 yard action range was out of service as they were repairing the target stands so I went to the 20 yard action range and woo a swimming pool.

I wasn’t too worried, I wore my waterproof Magnum boots but they don’t work when the water comes up over the top…  Who would have thought that, it was pretty muddy too and my feet got stuck every time I went to change targets.  Laura and her father Mike went to Silverdale too and she let me try her Henry Mares Leg in 357 magnum and that thing is a lot of fun!  There’s no stock so you hold it out in front of your face, took me a while to find the sight but after a bit of practice I was able to drill a bulls eye at 20 yards which is good.  Recoil was mild as the rifle is heavy, I would have preferred if the wood was more grippy, all sleek it was rather slippery when firing.

In the last picture I show the size difference between a 357 magnum soft point cartridge and a FMJ 9×19 round, yeah the magnum is quite a bit bigger!  The HK SFP9 shoots like a dream and I absolutely love it!  No hiccups today and I probably put 300 rounds down range so I’m very happy with its performance.

Later I joined Laura & Mike at the 100 yard range to do some shooting with the Ruger 10/22.  They like their .22 LR rifles so I brought Maggie’s rifle out and at 100 yards with CCI Mini Mag 40gr bullets there’s a point of impact drop of around 5″ (rifle is zeroed for 50).  Once I figured it out though I shoot a big higher and was able to hit what I wanted at that range.

Called it a day at around 11:30am, came home and woo I got my first survival box!

Hehe Maggie thinks I’m nuts with this survival stuff but it’s fun, anyway I have a monthly subscription and it gives me all sorts of useful goodies.  In the intro box, I got two Wise dehydrated meals, two packets of emergency drinking water, a Wise fire starter, water filtration tablets, 5 candles, a survival blanket, a LED flashlight, some paracord and a carabiner, some waterproof matches and a waterproof container, a bo bo first aid kit, a knife and fire strikre rod and a small binder with some camping/survival tips.  Pretty cool, I have everything here already but lol now I don’t have to look for stuff and it’s like a monthly fun present, I couldn’t say no.

At 3pm, I went to see my doctor to get a physical and woo everything is normal and fine.  He didn’t even tell me to lose weight, says for my height (5′ 8″) and weight (165 lbs) I’m normal so that’s a good sign. 🙂

In the evening I don’t really have anything planned, Maggie’s working late as usual so I guess I’ll just play with Brandon at home.
