Battery problems

I had some trouble with the Mini yesterday, the battery is almost 7 years old and when I took it in for service back in May I asked the BMW guys to check it and let me know if it needs to be replaced. They said it was fine so I left it alone, well yesterday it wasn’t even that cold but it wouldn’t start when we were out.  The battery wouldn’t crank over so I asked Maggie to continue shopping while I waited for CAA to come.

It took about 45 minutes but the specialist got to me and said my battery was drained, not sure why but yeah it was too low.  He gave me a boost the car started and recommended I buy a battery charger to give bring the battery back to 100%.  After dropping Maggie and Brandon off at home, I went to Canadian Tire and picked up a battery charger then hooked everything up in the garage.  According to the charger my battery was at 60% capacity and I guesstimated it’d take about 3 hours to fill up.  After that time I went out to the house and the charger said “LO” which meant 50% or less charge ugh.  I disconnected the battery charger, reconnected it and in the evening when I went to take a look it was full.

Went outside just now to hook everything back up, I wanted to see where I was and had 90%+ capacity so I guess that’s good.  I’m off for a week at the end of the month so I’ll get the thing replaced then, it’s a “smart’ battery so that means I can’t just buy one from the store to replace myself ugh.

Anyway the weekend has been pretty good overall but I’ll give an update there tomorrow.
