So yesterday we didn’t do too much during the day, Maggie went to play badminton and Brandon and I hung around the house. In the afternoon I dropped him off at my mom’s place to spend the night so Maggie and I could take a nice long drive, we use to do that a lot when we were younger and it’s something we enjoy very much. Some nice tunes, going anywhere at random it’s a lot of fun! We had dinner in Beaverton Ontario, at some wing place and it was good.
Something I like to do is find something to eat in a small town, Maggie wasn’t really ready for the photo but I took it anyway. A bit later we were driving around some nice cottages and I thought the sun looked great over the corn field so I snapped a pic there too. Initially I wanted to try my hand at a bit of astro photography but the clouds rolled in and killed that idea. We ended up driving to the end of Hwy 35, when we decided to go home it was ~2 1/2 hour ride back and got home at 1am.
Just past Barrie on Hwy 400 I jumped into a service station to fill up, not bad numbers at all! 518 km driven with an average of 4.3L / 100 km (54.7 mpg) and with half a tank (at least according to the gauge) left! I just can’t get over how efficient this car is, yeah it’s slow but man trying to get better gas mileage is also a ton of fun!
Today with Brandon gone at least in the morning I took the time to give the house a good vacuuming and then mopped the kitchen floor. Ugh it was so sticky and dirty, I don’t spend a ton of time in the kitchen and man I don’t know how Maggie can stand it. While I was cleaning, I decided that next weekend I’ll rent a carpet cleaner from Home Depot so I can give the carpet upstairs a good cleaning as well, that should be “fun”. I picked up Brandon around 12:30pm, then went to get a car wash as there were a ton of dead bugs on the Prius. After that we went to Megan’s place so the little guy could swim and man he really does love the water!
Imran, Estelle & little Georgia was also there and while the women and kids were busy the guys were checking out the cars. Frank recently picked up a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and it certainly was very pretty! He got the large 5.7L HEMI engine and I think it’s got 360 or so HP so when you step on the accelerator it really goes! Tons of room so it’ll be good when they start a family though it is a gas guzzler but hey not everyone likes the same things I do, I get it.
After a quick spin around the block I showed them the gen 3 Toyota Prius, it’s boring but they agree the fuel efficiency is amazing and Frank particularly liked the storage area under the main floor in the back. I explained how the battery and hybrid system works and how to eek out the most mileage you can (best I’ve done in the city is 3.5L / 100 km or 67 mpg).
We left around 3:30pm, it was raining and well we just wanted to relax the rest of the day anyway. Sigh too bad there’s work tomorrow but the bills have to be paid some how so back to the grind after an amazing long weekend. 🙂
