Wee extension tubes!

Playing with the extension tubes and man I really can get up great macro shots with my Canon 24-105 F4L IS USM lens!

So I used my Canon 70-200 F2.8L IS II USM lens as a subject and focused on the “II”, the first picture is at the 24-105’s minimum focus distance, the second picture is with a 13mm extension, second is 21mm and the 3rd is with a 31mm. I could stack the tubes for even more magnification but by that time the I’m touching the longer telephoto lens with the 24-105’s front element.

Not as good as a dedicated macro lens but still a lot of fun to play with and if I’m shooting something that doesn’t move this could work. Note to self need to use a higher F stop next time as the depth of field is so damn shallow even at F4 at these magnifications.
