Training Newbs is fun!

On Saturday I ran an airsoft team training day for new/novice players and it went very well.  The purpose of the session was to help new players be more effective on the field and we discussed (and practiced) things like field communication, target identification and flanking techniques; things which are not immediately obvious to new players, but essential when playing in a team environment.

The day started slowly as I had to make sure that the players were all at the same level before we got into the more advanced stuff and the rain certainly didn’t help… I cut the lessons short when it started to rain heavily around 11AM and went into a bit more action since standing out in the rain watching people practice maneuvers kind of sucks.  Luckily the rain let up after a short intense soaking.  In the afternoon I got all the individual fire teams to work together and assault defended positions and they performed very well.  I was particularly pleased  with how well the teams communicated and coordinated their attack.

It’s a shame I had to leave the field at 4PM as I had a dinner to go to but ya the training session went well and I think I’ll hold another one, perhaps a more intermediate level training session with more emphasis on fire and movement and discussions on radio communication. 🙂
