Yesterday Mark and I went to Flagraiders for a large airsoft game (~60 players) and it was totally awesome. The action was fast, intense and everything was very well coordinated by Alex (game host). As usual the teams were split into two, digital vs analog camo and Mark and I were on opposing teams. Heh as hard as I tried to find the tall giant to shoot, there were too many bodies in the way and we really never had a chance to shoot each other.
In the first couple games, I played very poorly but as the day progressed I stared to do better. The problem was even though we had around 30 players on our team, for the most part we were all playing as individual and were not coordinated. I’m sure it was an issue for the other side as well but I just found things difficult without fire support. After a few games I hooked up with two guys with an awesome WW2 setup, Lee and Billy and we played well together as a unit. For the rest of the day we stuck pretty much together and I had an excellent time. That M14 Billy was using was darn accurate and great for laying down suppressing fire at long distances. π
I enjoyed the attack and defend scenarios, it’s easier when you’re playing with a group. In particular the pistols game was good till I was taken out by friendly fire. It’s a shame my TM Hi Cap 5.1 was out of service, the Glock 18C just didn’t have the range and it was difficult to hit targets over 15 meters. The Hi Cap has excellent range and would have worked well picking off enemies at longer distances, oh well… The terminator game was great initiation for the newbs, heh how would you like to be a newbie and have 30+ people (many left during the game) gunning for you? π
The last game where we broke off into four different teams was fun. π Heh for the second game instead of advancing on the objective, we decided to go left and flank one of the opposing teams totally taking them out. Near the medical building our team started to lose a bit of coordination and we were all pretty much KIA by the other two teams.
Overall the game was great and I’m dead tired. As some of you know, my job consists of sitting in front of a computer all day so I’m not in the best physical shape but every game I get a bit better. There were a few guys I noticed who were not calling their hits but I didn’t let that spoil an otherwise excellent game. I didn’t field my camera because I was busy playing so I only have this picture to post of Mark and I at the end of the game. The host took a whole lot of pictures and I will link to them once they’re online.
I love airsoft, it’s better than any FPS you can play on the computer… π
Edit: Alex has just posted the pictures of the game here :). Feel free to browse through them, there were a few good pictures of me there so I’m happy. π
Heh I’m not really conceded, I just wanted to post a few pictures I thought were cool. π
