So I’ve invested pretty heavily in Canon and RF glass and am frustrated to learn that the upcoming Canon RF 100-500mm lens is going to be in the range of $4k CDN.  My Canon EF 100-400 MKII lens retails for $2600 so it’s a pretty big step up in terms of pricing, that and at 500mm the aperture is a dark F7.1.  Sorry photographer speak, basically it’s very dark.  What pisses me off more the Sony 200-600mm lens is only $2500, so now I’m asking if I should change to Sony instead.

I could sell the EOS R, the RF 24-70,  RF 70-200 & the EF 100-400MKII lenses and go with a Sony A7III and equivalent lenses for about the same price.  Sigh what to do, I do like Canon and their RF glass is superb but is the premium worth it?  I know the upcoming R5/6 bodies look killer but I don’t really do video so I don’t care about the video specs, I do want more range though and that Sony 200-600 lens looks to fit my needs perfectly.
