Stunning view

I had a pretty busy weekend but Saturday was definitely a ton of fun.  We decided to do a day trip to Algonquin park to do some hiking and so Brandon could swim in a lake and well it was amazing.  Hehe while we were up there I wanted to check out the Centennial Ridges trail specifically because it looked like it had a ton of potential for an astro shoot and well yeah it does.

The trail has a moderate degree of difficulty and probably the hardest trail that Maggie or Brandon has ever done, took us about an hour and a half to cover 2km but when we got to the top it was well worth it!  The view overlooking the lake and island is directly South West which means the galactic core should be right above it.  Want to go back again at night to try, no joking around up top because it can be quite dangerous.

Brandon used my MARPAT assault backpack and packed it with supplies himself, a boo boo kit, flashlight, whistle, compass, snacks and water.  Pretty smart of him, I told him to bring a bag and those were the items he thought of.

In the last photo, there’s nothing really special about it except for the chip munk and that the Canon EOS R5 locked right onto it’s eye despite being such a busy scene!  This thing is absolutely amazing and the 45 megapixels really helps with cropping.

Brandon likes to swim so we stopped by the beach at the Lake of two rivers and he had a blast.  I’m not sure who put up the perimeter but he swam in and out of it looking for “treasure” lol.  He did find an oyster which was neat, put it back before we left.  While at the beach I also tried the eye AF on the Canadian Geese and it again it worked really well.  This thing makes taking photos of animals a snap, really…

It’s a long drive to Algonquin but we like road trips and had a blast.

My Sunday was good too, I met up with Mike to help Ali at the store she works part time at to help her take some product photos and that was quite a bit of fun but it was awesome to see her, man must be 8 years since we talked in person.  What’s nice, knowing a friend like that is doesn’t matter how long you’re apart, the jokes pick up right where they left off.  Still editing those photos, if there are any good ones I’ll post them here but if you don’t see them, then they were meh lol.
