Brick Works

This morning Brandon and I went to the Brick Works park with Alan, Eddy & Mike.  We got there just before 9:30am and it was already packed so while we tried to avoid people as best we could we had masks on almost the whole time we were there.  Brandon was excited to test out his Canon EOS RP & Canon EF 70-200 F4L IS USM lens along with the 1.4x Extender while I was hoping to see some birds before the cold weather comes and we were both not disappointed!

Many of the trees were in full fall mode and the colours were beautiful.  We walked around and found an abandoned rail road track so we walked around on it which was neat.  We were also lucky enough to run across 3 red tail hawks flying around in the sky!  Man even with the Canon EF 100-400 MKII lens and the Canon EOS R5, I wish I had either more range or more mega pixels so when I can get closer to the birds.

Brandon had a good time too, he doesn’t really understand settings that well yet and while his static shots are great, I should have dialed in the shutter a bit tighter than 1/1000 for the birds. 🙁

The Canon EF 70-200 F4L IS USM is super sharp even with a 1.4x extender on so if the bird photos are not tack sharp that’s my fault for allowing Brandon to use such a slow shutter.  We left around lunch time, got some take out and hung around the house the rest of the day.  Initially I was hoping to go out with the family but Maggie had to do some work so that was out.

Tomorrow we’re going to look at a few more houses, it’s not fun anymore but I’m hoping to get another house before the end of the year so fingers crossed we find something nice.
