Busy weekend!

Things started off Saturday morning, I met Mario at Colonel Samuel Smith park, I had a hunch the snowy owl would be around (it hunts during the day) and woo I was right!  It was sunning itself on the docks the whole two hours we were there and it was near the middle of the uh water (not sure what that U shaped area where the boats dock is called) so even at 400mm, it was pretty small.  It didn’t move around other than to look from side to side every so often but it was still pretty cool to see. 🙂

Too bad it wasn’t closer but still very cool to see in the wild!  While we were there we walked around the park and there were a few other birds around which were cool.

I think the ones on the left are greater scaups, middle long tail ducks and a mute swan.

I thought the left photo was nice, with the outline of the people and it was a pretty funny interaction with the racoon/photographer, the trash panda really liked him haha.  The last photo is of me that Mario took, he missed focus but it still turned out ok, the nice hard morning sun was nice. 🙂

I left the park around 10 then came home and Brandon and I decided to hunt birds more so we took a drive north and that was fun too.

Saw a couple of hawks in the trees, one which flew really close to us, some ravens and a blue jay!  We came home by the early afternoon and hung around the house the rest of the day.

This morning we headed over early to the new house, well it’s not technically ours yet as we take ownership on Friday but went with the contractor so we could tell him what we wanted done.

Kind of wish I had my wide angle on for this one but ahh well, 24mm is sufficient and I have to say this house is rather nice!  We measured the ceilings in the basement (should have done the main floor) and it’s just over 9′!  It needs a bit of work but once it’s done it’ll be ready to rent out and I hope that we can find a nice family that are trouble free (that’s the dream right) like with our other place.
