Yesterday I took the family to Dixie Orchards to see the sunflowers and it was certainly an interesting experience. Apparently mature sun flowers face away from the afternoon sun while younger immature flowers that need a lot of pollination face towards it. In addition to the sun flowers, we walked a corn maze which was pretty darn neat.
The farm is in Caledon and definitely worth the drive. We went in the 4-6pm window so I could get some of that nice afternoon sun though for a lot of the pictures, the sun was in the wrong location lol.
This morning I accompanied Mike to go visit SR Knives, he was looking for a new pocket knife and well I like knives too so why not. I don’t remember which knife he ended up getting but it was nice, myself I bought a Benchmade 595 Mini Boost. I’ve been carrying a Benchmade 590 Boost for the last few years and while it’s served me very well it’s simply way too big, large enough that people do a double take when you use it for something.
The Mini Boost when closed is about 1 1/2 cm shorter and when extended a good 3cm shorter than my old knife. I guess I’ll retire the larger 590 to my car and move the CRKT to Maggie’s car… We’re outdoors a lot and a good pocket knife is a super handy tool, along with a small flashlight I almost always have one with me.
Today I took Brandon and went to to a small pop up amusement park at Bridlewood Mall with Estelle & Georgia. LOL it was definitely way too expensive for what was there but the kids had fun and I guess that’s the most important part.
The theme was dinosaurs and Georgia was afraid of the ones that moved and made noise, it was cute. Brandon was a bit big for most things (he’s such a big boy now) and took care of Georgia well. Sigh I definitely regret not having another child when we were younger.
We didn’t do much the rest of the day, stayed home and relaxed. Both Brandon and I have seasonal allergies and they’re pretty bad at the moment so that kind of sucks, at least we have AC at home and a good filtration system. Too hot and muggy out so it’ll be a quiet night before having to work tomorrow.
