Yes more airsoft…

Yesterday I went to the Greater Toronto Area Milsim Airsoft Convention held at TTAC3 and it was fun. Things moved slowly but it was a great intro to the sport for newbies (and boy there were a lot of them). I was pleasantly surprised at the attendance level especially since in the previous couple of weeks, airsoft politics flared up and a few teams/retailers pulled out.

In any case I had a good time and if I had remembered that there would be a load out competition, I probably would have brought my gear down too. πŸ˜‰ Anyway here are a couple of pictures, I took quite a few but some didn’t want them posted online so I’ll respect their wishes.

I was very impressed with the WW2 airsofters, their setups looked very authentic. πŸ™‚

In the mean time I was able to score a TM Hi Capa 4.3. I won’t get into how I got it but in any case the gun is a perfect side arm for Maggie. It’s slightly smaller than my Hi Capa 5.1 but the mags are cross compatible and most importantly, it shoots very well. The TM Hi Capa series are a cut above most other GBB’s in terms of performance on the field and I can’t wait to try it out. πŸ˜€ It’s completely stock at the moment however I have a metal slide and tightbore inner barrel coming in which should improve things.

Picked up an additional two 4.3 mags (which look very nice in my 5.1) and Maggie is happy. πŸ™‚

My TM P90 RDS was not shooting up to its potential and the problem happened to be Guarder’s cylinder, it’s the wrong model for a shorter barrel weapon like this. I put the old cylinder into the gun and it’s firing a nice 105m/s (345 fps) with 0.2g BBs. πŸ™‚ I’m a fan of Guarder products but I’ve had a few issues with their polycarbonate piston heads recently. Last week my M14 piston head failed all together and after taking apart the P90, I found this…

The piston head makes contact with a rubber pad on the back of the Guarder cylinder head which helps absorb some of the impact yet it still cracked! The spring I’m using is a Guarder SP90 which is not a high tension spring and the gun was only fielded twice briefly. If you plan on upgrading your gun take note, it would suck if you suffered from the same issue too. I have a couple of aluminum piston heads handy, perhaps that’s the way to go with non Version 2 mech boxes…

Anyway the wknd is not over yet and I’m going to enjoy my Sunday afternoon, just wanted to make a post. πŸ™‚
