Weekend AAR

Well I certainly had a fun weekend, how about you? On Saturday Mark, Charlene and I hit up the FlagRaiders game Derrick was hosting and boy it was well an adventure. With a fresh dusting of snow from Thursday’s storm, we all knew it would messy but running around in knee deep snow was well… an adventure.

Initially I started the day with the CA G36, no drum mag this time it was just too cold for the AA batteries so I would be using it as a standard assault rifle. Things didn’t work out very well and that gun lasted a whole three shots (I was able to hit someone though :D) before the thing went down. The CA G36 doesn’t respond well to the cold (and as I would later find out on Sunday, this was due to faulty wiring) and I didn’t feel like figuring out the problem on the field. Luckily I brought the CA M15A4 CQB with me but with it shooting around 320 fps, I was giving up a lot of range.

The teams were divided pretty evenly by the numbers but my side was continually slaughtered by the superior team in white. Heh it’s ok my side was really disorganized and it’s damn hard to see a white target in the snow! I need to get myself a set of winter whites to play with…

Another memorable moment was when I was engaging Derrick in the drug lab, yes he was on my team but (and I blame him for this ;)) he had assigned his brother to be on the white team even though he was wearing multicam (had to be done though to even out the bodies on each side), anyway we spent a good 5 minutes shooting at each other before we realized we were on the same team. Haha good times.

My best game was when playing the defenders role in the landing craft scenario. I was able to sneak behind the SWAT van without the white team knowing and was able to take out like 6 players. Since my side was not allowed to advance, I just camped at that spot and continually picked off the players who came into my area. Unfortunately the rest of my team was not as fortunate, one second I see 4 teammates to the right, the next I’m mercied by Vlad (damn you! :)) while sitting in the SWAT van.

Mark, Charlene and I left the game a bit early at around 3PM. We usually stay till the end but running around in heavy snow is damn tiring! I had a great time playing but damn that snow is a killer. Still as usual I’m looking forward to the next game Derrick hosts.

Here are a couple of pics from the game although if you want to check out action shots, click here and here.

Heh Charlene picked up a pink Hello Kitty hat for me (why she thought I like Hello Kitty I have no idea, that’s more Mario’s thing. ;))

Unfortunately I did have a gun failure, the cylinder head in the TM G36C I lent Charlene broke rendering the gun useless for the rest of the day. Odd, this will be the second cylinder head that has broken in the month of February and that has usually been my most reliable gun. Luckily Mark has an extra and I’ll be picking that up from him shortly.

Most of Sunday I lounged around at home cleaning up my airsoft gear from Saturday’s game. I also took apart the G36 and G36C to find out what exactly is wrong with the guns, good thing everything is an easy fix. Went to my parents place in the early afternoon to help my dad out with a spyware issue and on Sunday night, my dad and I went to Wing Chun day festivities. It was nice to see everyone again and I certainly miss practicing.

All in all a great weekend, very tired on Monday but hey my brain can vegetate during the day. 😉
