Relaxing…

So yesterday I took the day off to recover from the airsoft game on the weekend and it was a good idea as my back was super sore and I was moving around like an old man lol. I did have an action plan though and in the morning I dropped by Le Baron to pick up some gun cleaning supplies. Hehe as I strolled around the store I wanted to buy so much stuff but ended up with just an ammo can, a can of gun cleaner and a bore snake.

After lunch I took a stab at cleaning the Norinco SKS and it was pretty easy. The spray cleaner worked alright but I still had to dig out the cosmoline with a rag and sponge and man was that stuff everywhere! I removed as much as I could from the stock as well but it’s really caked there and I guess the rest will rub off with use… Mmm I can’t wait to go to the range and shoot my own gun. 😀

Yeah it’s old school looking but I like it and will leave it stock I think. I need to buy a front sight adjustment tool as mine is way off center as well as more stripper clips so I can load the gun easier. Pictured is ~700 rounds of 7.62×39 surplus Chinese ammo, it’s corrosive so I’ll have to clean the gun thoroughly after shooting to keep the rust away.

Hehe oh on another note I picked up another toy… I bought a Norinco CQ-A, yeah I initially wanted to get a Daniel Defense MK18 but I also want to renovate my house and don’t want to drop $1,700 on a gun so I’ll just settle with the CQ-A. If it sucks meh I’ll just sell it on CGN, every Norinco AR listed seems to sell rather quickly so we’ll see… The reviews on YouTube seem pretty good, I know it’s not a match grade rifle but I’m just learning and will get that MK18 down the line. 😉 Wonder what I’ll do to it, I guess I’ll turn it into a SOPMOD block 1 gun a dated look but I got all the real parts on my CQBR so I’ll pull it off that and then I’ll have a blank slate to work on there too. 😉
