From reading online about AR-15s, it’s obvious that a quality bolt carrier group will improve the function of the gun so I decided to pick up a NEA BCG and yay it was on sale. 😉 NEA is a mid tier AR-15 manufacturer but more importantly I bought it because it’s a Canadian company, NEA guns and components have a lifetime warranty and the warranty is something I can use if need be without all the red tape of sending AR-15 components to the US. I think US made parts are subject to ITAR or something, yes you can move parts around but why deal with the headache if I can get by with something local.
I’m not super informed about AR-15s (yet hopefully) but at first glance, the finish on the NEA bolt carrier group looks smoother so hopefully that translates into cleaner action. As you can see I got the full auto BCG, no that doesn’t turn my AR-15 into a gun that can fire full auto, rather there’s more metal at the rear of the BCG which adds mass and slows the cycling down slightly. The screws on the gas key are staked pretty well but then again so is the Norinco. I didn’t take it apart yet but the firing pin moves smoothly so I think I’ll leave it as is and try it out at the range tomorrow. 😉 Wiped down some of the oil and lubrication on it and I think it’s good to go!
Not sure if I’ll use the NEA BCG as my primary in the Norinco AR-15 or stick with the stock one but meh I just like having a backup. 🙂 Looking forward to the morning, taking Maggie with me along with some friends to Silverdale Gun Club and despite the rain should be a good one.
