It’s a start…

For those who don’t know Purolator courier, in Canada it’s almost as big as FedEx or UPS. Anyway when I walked by a Purolator van on my way to work, I see that there are a few that are hybrids. It makes so much sense, these things are on the road pretty much 365 days a year, so going with a Hybrid fleet saves on fuel and is better on the environment than a vehicle that uses a regular conbustion engine. Makes you wonder why the big boys from the US don’t do something similar…

When is the world going to figure out that oil is a finite resource that will one day disappear? Heh not before it hits us in the face I’m sure. 🙁

On another rather depressing note, the US government is going to pass “stricter” regulations on SUV’s when it comes to fuel efficiency but don’t read too much into it. Looks like a bunch of PR bullshit to me…

Proposed federal rules boost standards to 22 miles per gallon for 2008 light SUV’s.  By 2011, the rules change to just over 23 miles per gallon.

But this was my favorite part…

But those rules leave out the heftiest SUV’s, like the Hummer, Suburban and Yukon.  Now, environmental groups want those vehicles weighing more than 8500 pounds to have the same standards…

What a crock of shit, this is total BS. This does nothing for the environment and it only makes these jerks feel better about their damn gass guzzling jeeps. As I told my friend today, we’re all going to hell but at least we’ll have room in the SUV…
