I like projects and picked up an upgraded but broken ICS AK74 AEG. According to the seller the gun doesn’t fire and he simply doesn’t know why so I figure what the heck I’m pretty good with these things. 😉 Initial impressions of the ICS AK74 exterior anyway are good, it’s very solid and feels quite comfortable to hold. Not quite as heavy as Mark’s upgraded TM AK47 however there’s no wood here, just metal and fiberglass.
Tearing it apart, my suspicions turn out to be correct and the stock ICS trigger mechanism has melted at the contact points. I’m not sure if I mentioned this but a few weeks ago but the same thing happened to Jason’s ICS MP5. Having seen the same thing in this gun (which is suppose to fire 360-370 fps), I feel it’s safe to say if you own an ICS AEG and plan on upgrading the spring to fire 360+ fps you’ll probably want to upgrade the electrical system. It won’t die immediately but it’s definitely the weakest point in the whole system.
Not a pretty sight eh? Well I ordered a Guarder AK butt stock wiring assembly and hope it gets here before the weekend because I wouldn’t mind gaming this sucker. 😀
