I really don’t know what to think when I read things like this… I mean I’ve hated big financial banks before it was cool but to let them sleaze their way out of the paltry fines the US government gives them is just disgusting.

Deep in the legalese weeds of the settlement documents lies buried treasure. Big banks such as Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase will receive deductions against the corporate tax that will amount to between half and nearly three-quarters of their multibillion-dollar settlements, at least. Meanwhile, midsized banks and nonbank lenders generally get to deduct the whole shebang.

Well that’s great now isn’t it… Drives me up the wall that the governments around the world coddle these financial institutions, their leaders should be rotting in jail with all their assets seized. Won’t undo the damage that was done but it’d certainly make many people feel better.
