Friday night Maggie, Brandon and I went to the spicy food restaurant and it was good, it always was… I wanted a big dinner because there was a family gathering on my mom’s side on Saturday and it would be a buffet…
Ahh my angels, I’m lucky to have them. 🙂
Saturday was a pretty busy day, Maggie went to play badminton in the morning and I initially wanted to take Brandon to the park or something but an airsofter I know wanted to pick up his PTW so we stayed home and did stuff instead. Cam came by around 11 or so but by that time, Brandon and I were busy so we just waited for Maggie to return. Had lunch at home, then we went to swimming class and Brandon graduated to level 2. He’s easily the smallest kid in that level by at least a head and lol he was having too much fun not listening… We could hear the instructor call his name many times and asking him to watch but he was playing and laughing.
In the evening we went to a swanky buffet restaurant (that I can’t remember the name to) to welcome my cousin Cindy, her husband Aaron & son Evan to Canada. I think they’re here on vacation and it’s the first time I’ve met them, at least I think so anyway… Their 2 year old son was SO cute, lol I loved the Michelin man arms and was totally not afraid of strangers. Dinner was good and since Maggie is badminton crazy, we went to Jessie & Jason’s house so the women could play a bit more.
Jason, the kids and I played badminton for a bit but since it was so hot we went inside, the kids were playing and Jason and I were giving each other a hard time like usual lol. Since it was a Saturday we stayed over till around 9:15pm I think then left. When I returned home I packed my stuff for the range and ugh I always bring so much stuff…
I found out last minute that I would need to pick up Mario because his dad was a bit flaky but that’s alright because he lent us his Robinson Arms XCR-M and that thing is hella cool! More on that later, anyway after picking up Mario I swung by Brayden’s place to pick him up too and boy was the Mini loaded up, I could feel the engine straining when we were going up hill lol. We met up with Temir, Henry & Wayne (Temir’s friend) at Silverdale and started to have our fun.
We all shot a variety of guns, I brought my Daniel Defense MK18, CSA vz-58, H&K HK45CT & P30L, Glock 17 and M&P22 while Bray brought his AR-15 & Glock, Henry his two 1911s and Temir had some pretty cool guns a double barrel 12ga shotgun and a really nice Marlin lever action in 30-30. We also borrowed the XCR-M from Mario’s dad as mentioned above and boy is that thing a beast! With the bipod, heavy barrel and optic that gun is definitely over 10 lbs, shooting at the action range is a bit of a waste of its power but boy was it fun. For something that shoots 7.62×51, it’s surprisingly mild and double taps was relatively easy.
I shot the P30L a lot myself and boy does the trigger suck… I guess I’ve been spoiled by the HK45CT as it has a match trigger which is really crisp, but the P30L trigger is mushy and long. Will need to see if there’s something I can do about that because I definitely wasn’t happy with how I performed but the gun is new so I need to give it some time. I shot pretty well with Henry’s Kimber Tactical Custom II and now I want a nice 1911. A decent 1911 is already on the list of things to buy but after shooting one, maybe I’ll expedite the process.
I’ve been shooting some Tulammo steel cased 5.56 ammo and today one got stuck in the chamber of my DD MK18! I was busy helping some newbs so Brayden and Henry got the case out but it was jammed in there bad, they needed to use a brass cleaning rod and hammer the case out! Bray got a small cut along the way on his knuckle but was no worse for the wear and I appreciated the guys helping me out with my rifle.
A bit later two of Maggie’s friends husbands came and they had a good time shooting my stuff too. The one with a member (I forgot his name) doesn’t have his ATT yet so he couldn’t bring any of his restricteds but still had some nice toys.
We wrapped up the range day just after 12 and as we were leaving we bumped into Mike, his wife, daughter and Milan. I got back home just after 3pm after dropping the boys off then I cleaned my guns and picked Maggie and Brandon up from the park at 4 then we just relaxed the rest of the day at home. A very busy but fun weekend, I’m not happy with how I shot the HK P30L so I’ll have to work on that more next time out.
