Bad and good…

Today was certainly an interesting day…  In the morning, we walked around the neighborhood and hit up 3 garage sales both Maggie and Brandon enjoy that so I figure why not…  There wasn’t really anything good but I did buy Brandon a box of Lego so score for him.  Mowed the front lawn and did some yard work, god there are so many damn weeds but it was hot and humid so we decided to go out for pho for lunch and it was good.

As usual we went to swimming class but there was an incident…  So we put Brandon in private swimming lessons and the instructors are teenagers who participate in the more advanced classes (they compete nationally) and today we got a jerk.  So with the beginners, there are two instructors one who’s in the water and takes the kids for a personalized lesson and one out of the water, when the kids aren’t with the other guy they’re at the wall and kicking.  Brandon is 5 years old and has a limited attention span so he’s playing a bit and the instructor outside keeps using his feet to tell Brandon to not goof off.  Personally I felt it was inappropriate, I wouldn’t want anyone touching me with their feet to get my attention and he shouldn’t have but I let it slide.

Next to get Brandon’s attention (because the feet thing wasn’t working), he pushed Brandon’s head downwards and forced his face into the water again Brandon had goggles on and nothing bad happened so I just let it go but finally near the end of the class when the guy got upset then pulled Brandon up by the head I stepped in and said something.  He palmed Brandon’s head like a basketball and asked him “What’s wrong with you? Why aren’t you listening?” and some other things which I can’t remember at the moment and it really pissed me off.  I got up walked over to the kid, told him not touch my son like that and he had the nerve to retort “Don’t you want him to improve?” and I kind of lost it.  I replied “Yes I want him to improve but he’s 5 years old, he has a limited attention span and he’s much younger than the other kinds in his group”.

The stupid kid kept asking me if I wanted Brandon to improve so I was pissed and told him I’ll take it up with his boss (which noticed the situation and came over) so I did.  The head coached asked what happened, I explained how it’s inappropriate for him to grab my son the way he did and he agreed and relived the instructor of his duty.  It was totally wrong to grab Brandon by the top of the head, I get it he’s an athlete who competes himself but these are little kids we’re dealing with, if he can’t handle it without getting upset then he shouldn’t be teaching.  The head coach was very apologetic, I get it because an angry parent would be very bad for business but I’ve said it many times…  Do something to me no big deal but don’t mess with my boy.

I’d understand the need to be rough (there may be a sense of urgency) with a child if he/she were doing something dangerous but this teenager was just mad that Brandon wasn’t listening.

Anyway after we got home, Chantel & Janessa came over to play, another kid Jessie was suppose to come over with his grandmother but that didn’t materialize for some reason.  Anyway Brandon and Janessa get along very well and it’s so cute to watch them play. 🙂

We picked up some outdoor toys for the kids to play with at Dollarama and they loved it.  Both kids loved shooting me with the water guns and lol I did enjoy shooting them back. 😉  Later I set up the whale sprinkler and both of them kept running through the water.  Just after 5 Maggie fired up the BBQ (we eat early on weekends) and the food was good…  There were a lot of flies out for some reason so we moved indoors soon after and the kids were playing inside which was nice.  In the last two pictures Janessa is tickling Brandon and he loved it. 🙂

Overall a good day and never mess with my boy!
