We as a society need to freaking pay attention to what we’re doing to the environment right now! If all of the world’s pollinators disappear tomorrow that’d probably cause a global collapse of society, how would we sustain food production for 7+ billion people on the planet…
The health of pollinator populations is intrinsically tied up with global food security, the IPBES assessment notes. Altogether, nearly 90 percent of all flowering plants on Earth depend on animal pollination, and that includes about 75 percent of the world’s food crops.

Scientists don’t really know what’s causing the collapse but it’s pretty clear it’s an all of the above approach by humans with agriculture. We need to be farming in a sustainable manner or it’s just a matter of time before the house of cards we’ve built for ourselves comes crumbling over.
