Why people like Bernie

For the first time I think it’s safe to say that there is a US presidential candidate that’s more liberal than our Canadian politicians and while our system is moving rightward, Bernie Sanders is pulling at least one party leftward.

He’s been very consistent throughout his career in government and his fight for fairness is not a new one, I just wish more of my American neighbours would wake up to the political reality that their system is corrupt.  Unfortunately the corporate media and political establishment have teamed up against his candidacy and his odds of claiming the Democratic nomination are slim but I’m hoping that the movement he’s started continues on well after the 2016 election.

He’s already proven that you can win by appealing to grass roots voters and that one doesn’t need the huge corporate/rich donor money to succeed and let progressives around that country learn from his success.

I’m going to Feel the Bern well after 2016 because whether he wins or not, Bernie is right.

  1. God Bless America! Regardless of its imperfections the Free World has benefited from the USA’s protection. We are far from perfect but the world as we know it today would be far different if the States hadn’t played such a lead role. Our time is passing, who can take up the leadership role? Canada?

  2. I agree, America has been a force for good overall. The country may have its issues but with that said, the people can still change and make the country an example for the rest of the world to follow. Bypass congress, get a constitutional amendment to get money out of politics and have the politicians work for the people again. The stink of corruption crosses party lines and can be done if there’s the will from the people!

It’s not too late, I have hope that the people can fix things still. 🙂

  3. You must believe in miracles then! To accomplish what we know needs to be done in the USA is unlikely given the current crop of potential leaders, sigh. In some ways I envy Canada as I think a fresh faced Prime Minister like Trudeau might bring new ideas to the table. I don’t see anyone here in the States with the same potential. Sanders is way to old to serve two terms.

  4. LOL I guess I do then. I follow The Young Turks on YouTube and they’ve set up a group called Wolf Pac which seems to be pretty good at lobbying state governments to have a convention to add an amendment to the constitution. It’s possible, I believe it can be done. 🙂

Mr. Trudeau is a breath of fresh air compared to our previous PM Stephen Harper on social issues however he’s still very pro business. 🙁 Our current PM supports TPP & lower business taxes though he is slightly better on the environment (though he for the Keystone XL pipeline). Of course considering he’s only been in power since last Oct, it’s a bit too early to say what type of leader he’ll be, at least he’s for the public subsidy for political parties.

Sigh it’s too bad Bernie is so old, if he were even 10 years younger he might have a chance to make another run but yeah I do think he’s too old.
