A Liberal candidate Paul Chiang told supporters they should kidnap his former Conservative opponent Joe Tay, deliver him to the Chinese consulate for the $1 million HKD reward (Hong Kong authorities have a bounty on Joe Tay) and for some reason Mark Carney decided to keep his Liberal candidate.  Big misstep, I mean they turfed someone on Friday so why keep this guy around, they could replace him and slot someone else in quite easily.

Mark Carney’s response is even worse.

Liberal Leader Mark Carney says Paul Chiang will remain a candidate under his party’s banner, despite calls to drop the Markham-Unionville incumbent for suggesting people turn in a Conservative candidate to the Chinese consulate and collect a bounty.

“I view this as a teachable moment,” Carney said during a campaign stop in Vaughan, Ont., Monday.

Carney is facing external pressure to drop Chiang after he told a Chinese-language media news conference in January that people could cash in if they turned Joe Tay in to the Chinese consulate in Toronto. Tay is running for the Conservatives in the suburban Toronto battleground riding of Don Valley North.

Bold emphasis is mine but what?  Rumors are that the Liberal party is soft on Chinese influence and this does nothing but reinforce that image.  I certainly hope the Liberals make more of these idiotic mistakes and that it costs them dearly in this election.

I do not like the reporting in the Toronto Star, I’m ok with bias (everyone has that) but they’re simply not objective with their reporting and this article is a prime example.

For anyone who only reads headlines, that’s a big AH HA moment but there’s absolutely nothing there.  Pierre Poilievre bought a broad based Vanguard Canadian ETF that happens to have Brookfield stocks in it, it’s not like he purchased them directly himself.  By the headline’s logic, I’m a Nazi because I buy Vanguard VFV every month and it holds Tesla.  It’s so bad that the article rebuts the headline, so what was the point?

Unfortunately most people don’t read past the headline and will assume Mr. Poilievre is a hypocrite when that’s not justified (in this case).

TVA a private Quebec broadcaster cancelled its political debate today after Mark Carney of the Liberals refused to join its debate.  This isn’t an obscure thing, it’s been going on for a long time now (2021, 2019, 2015 as an example) but the Liberal candidate is skipping it and now it’s cancelled altogether.

Contrary to what he suggested Monday morning, Liberal leader Mark Carney will not participate in the TVA network’s Face-to-Face debate , which has decided to cancel this election campaign event.

“Why not?” Carney simply replied on Monday in Gander, Newfoundland, after being challenged to attend by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre. Sorry I don’t speak French so it’s translated by Google.  Imagine the Liberal outrage if Pierre Poilievre skipped debates but because it’s the Liberals doing it, it’s ok.  I understand why Mark Carney & the Liberals are skipping it, they’re trying to ride the honeymoon period of him becoming Liberal leader and win the election by default.  I can’t speak for other people but I like debates, it shows how someone performs under pressure and it also gets people on the record regarding policy…  Important to know for this election and the next but because Mr. Carney is skipping it, they’ll cancel instead.

Imagine the Liberal outrage (rightly) if Pierre Poilievre skipped a debate, man we’d never hear the end of it about how he’s scared or cowardly but because it’s the Liberals well it’s some how ok.

I’m obviously partisan but this is objectively bad and should be seen as a sign that Mark Carney can’t handle the pressure.

I mean this is just pretty funny, the Liberal party of Canada celebrating PM Carney getting rid of the consumer carbon tax.

With this & the higher capital gains inclusion rate (generational fairness remember?) Liberals are cheering Mark Carney undoing everything Trudeau has done and stood for.  What’s funnier is that they’re perfectly fine with the hypocrisy too.  Well I mean you got to give it to the Liberals, they do whatever it takes to win.

I just hope that Canadians are not stupid enough to fall for this crap, the last 10 years have been a disaster and won’t get better with a new face leading the Liberals.

Mark Carney has been voted in as the next Liberal party of Canada leader and will become the next PM despite having told Liberal supporters no real policy positions…  Funny because I remember Liberals complaining about the lack of policy from Pierre Poilievre but Carney well that’s ok.  To be fair the few policy positions that he has released (along with the other Liberal leadership candidates) have stolen a lot of what PP has proposed, I guess that’s ok since it’s good policy but yeah it’s kind of funny to watch the Liberals run away from everything they’ve stood for in the last 9 years.

Unfortunately Trump has shaken politics up in Canada and looks Liberal fortunes are on the rise, I certainly hope come election time people aren’t fooled by the same people who are now running on almost a completely opposite platform.

On the Conservative side, PP really needs to stop talking about the carbon tax.  You won, talk about how even without being in government, you’re able to get everyone to drop that lousy policy but talk more broadly about affordability or how the last 9 years of Liberal rule has left Canada weak and vulnerable to Trump and his antics.  Sigh what a mess but it appears team sport politics is most important and it’s maddening.
