So today I went to Silverdale with Marcia, Brayden, Chrissy & Brian. Since Chrissy is unlicensed Bray and Brian kept her company at the action range (brought some 10/22 mags and the S&W M&P22 for her to use) while Marcia and I played at the comp range. We set up a small obstacle course, cover/concealment is sparse so we had to use our imagination but it was fun. I brought the LBT 6094b vest and it was fun to wear a plate carrier again. A bit later, swapped the level 4 AR500 plates for his level 4 ceramic plates, initially I thought they were level 3 but no apparently level 4. Frankly I would have preferred level 3 as the ceramic plates I got were still heavy, but that’s as much as I’ll complain.
During this one run, I think I pushed a bit too hard and at the end I was a bit nauseated and wanted to throw up. LOL I kept it in though but did need 5 minutes to regain my composure, I don’t feel bad Marcia did two tours in Afghanistan and I have no problem admitting she’s much tougher than I am!
Hehe I love my AR15s and was super stoked that the PSA 7.62×39 upper ran almost perfectly (had a failure to eject and a misfeed), considering the thing is brand new and sometimes guns need a break in period, I was very happy with how it performed. Recoil is slightly heavier than the DD MK18 shooting 5.56×45, I’m sure I’ll get use to it very quickly and costing roughly $0.15 a shot vs $0.40 makes me happy. 😀 Unfortunately my 7.62×39 AR mags haven’t come in yet and due to Canada’s stupid magazine laws (limit is 5 rounds for rifle mags :(), I was only able to fit 3 rounds of 7.62×39 into my 5.56 PMags so that was a bit of a bummer.
Here’s some video from the ContourROAM on the side of my MSA Sordin ear muffs… Again we had to use our imagination when dealing with cover/concealment and where possible I tried to shoot left handed. Not great shooting left but I can get combat effective shots on the targets. 🙂
Oh poor Brayden the extractor claw on his “new” NEA bolt broke as you can see in the last picture and man I hate to say it but NEA sucks ass. He’s snapped two bolts, sheered off the gas key off the carrier and now the problem with the extractor, all in two years. Can’t wait to hear what the excuse is this time but yeah to any gun owners looking for an AR-15, stay away from North Eastern Arms! I keep my Norinco BCG as a spare just as a backup and when he put it in his rifle, everything functioned perfectly.
All in all an excellent day, everyone had fun and I almost puked so uh woo! Can’t wait to do it again, I don’t get out to the range enough. 😉
