So last summer there was a mass shooting on the Danforth and now the victims & families are calling for a ban on handguns.

Let’s say there was a ban, it wouldn’t have made one bit of difference because the gun was smuggled from the US and was not acquired legally anyway.  The shooter did not possess a valid gun license and even if he tried, his history of mental health issues would have barred him from getting one.  Also his brother is a convicted drug dealer / gun smuggler so please explain to me how a ban would have helped…

I get it, it sounds good and it’s good distraction politics which may be especially handy now that the PM is mired in scandal with the SNC Lavalin affair but can we be adults and deal with the real root causes of gun violence please.  No more damn token gestures, for gods sake these types of things are as stupid as climate change awareness.
