RCMP Failures

As I grow older, I find myself more cynical of the government & political parties because let’s be frank they’re not forward thinking and well politicians lie, only saying what they need to in order to get elected.  Anyway another authority figure I am losing faith in is the police force and I’ve been consistent in the fact that I do not believe in trading my personal freedoms for “security”.  Now gun ownership is not a right however if government wants to seize my lawfully acquired property, I think they should be better first and am glad that there’s a bright spotlight on the RCMP over it’s failures in the Nova Scotia tragedy.

Previously unreported details about the Nova Scotia mass shooting last month are raising serious questions about the way the RCMP handled the nightmarish onslaught.

While Nova Scotians grieve their 22 dead, including an RCMP officer, they remain universally sympathetic to front-line officers still on the job. But law enforcement officers familiar with details that have not been made public are wondering aloud if at least some of the shooting deaths could have been prevented.

I believe that the Liberals wanted to ban guns like the AR15 but the OIC announced feels rushed, as if the government felt like it had to act after the mass shooting, After all why include items like cannons, mortars & missile launchers on the ban list if you’re talking about recreational firearms?  Of course their action is way off the mark, the NS shooter was unlicensed & acquired his guns illegally (not subject to the rules I have to follow) so none of what the Liberals have done would have made a damn difference.

What would have saved lives are not relying on twitter, something tells me rural Nova Scotia is not a hub of tech activity…  Why the hell didn’t the RCMP look into the report of illegal weapons?!?  And if you ask me, it was the guy’s replica car & RCMP uniform that allowed him to get close to others without cause for concern.

But it’s easier to blame the guns right…  I demand better from my government and you should to, deal with the real issues and do not issue policies simply to feel good.
